Edit: i also just discovered that on the portrait of every hero ingame there is a small white dude at the botom left of the square if u click on him u get free 3D view of your hero, Try it its very impressive I used other kind of item with new gems like Blade Dance Crits on Diretide. Stats are counted. Scrolls kinda stupid atm, where you can only choose your first page item during crafting. Selecting the 2nd page or afterwards just make the crafting item turns gray box.

For me, this is the first time i've seen someone do so. I bet there is other information as interesting as above. all the contracts can be found on their facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SpeedGamingTV/posts/481094865337498 Also article by Cyborgmatt about this with all the info: http://www.ongamers.com/articles/speed-gaming-reveals-their-player-s-contracts-in-an-effort-to-improve-transparency-within-esports/1100-150/ Very nice to see this kind of information so we can have a better view of the "progamer life". That base salary is really low imo. 1000 dollars or roughly 740 euros a month, damn.

If they are getting a base $1k/month (and if Nexon counts they might be looking at $2k/month soon) while being provided free room and board and retaining the majority of their tournament earnings I think they've landed in a pretty nice deal as far as esports goes.

Stupid comparison for sure, but a job is a job, and that salary is low. It doesn't matter that they just sit in their chair playing games all day, office workers also sit in a chair facing a pc all day. To be honest, I'm not sure if playing dota 8 hours a day for 6 days a week would even be fun? You have to keep in mind that a lot of gamers did not complete their education to get into gaming, and have not much to fall back on once their gaming career is over. I dunno, looking at these contracts kinda explained the "win TI or get screwed" attitude. Loda mentioned in his blog that it is still "fucking hard to make a living out of Dota 2" and if you look at these numbers it's pretty obvious why.

You might also want to take into account, that there are many "classic" sports where it is also damn hard to make a living out of them (or downright impossible), that goes even for some olympic sports..

The payoff is massive once you reach the top though, enough money to last you literally for lifetimes if you don't squander it all away. In professional gaming, woopty doo I won 1 million dollars split 5 ways, not to mention taxes from the U.S. Government or my own national government, etc. And realize you have to bust your ass and literally be the BEST team in the world. To make it in other sports, you just have to be in the top 50-top 100.

Next to no one can even afford to do them full time, let alone witheout goverment aid...

They do get bad conditions if they win TI4, but on the bright side they can very quickly renegotiate. Plus they're made men should they win TI4. I can't imagine a TI winner not having good position to get favorable contracts with every organiztaion right afterwards. Until then salary is nice.

They won't have to pay any living expenses. Their food and accommodation is paid for by the team once they go to China (there was talk of a stipend in the meantime but I don't think it's officially mentioned anywhere?) and they'll get the salary on top of that. Teams are volatile, the game can be volatile, and almost nobody is a one org for life guy in esports. Shorter contract durations just reflect the nature of the scene for the time being. Perhaps you get longer contracts signed by the Chinese players, but they have proper infrastructure and procedures for trading players between teams and buying out contracts etc afaik.

I mean sure, it's not a huge amount by comparison to major sports, but that's a bit much to expect. When I was unemployed and studying at University I got $250 AUD a fortnight (so approx. $500 a month) from the Government and did "alright" for myself.
