Honestly past the point where you're able to get 60+ lasthits in 10 minutes 1v0, it's more productive to 1v1 people because most of the things that result in you not getting lasthits are the enemy hero in lane and not you being unable to get the lasthit.

I'd argue that this just acclimates you to lasthitting with the lowest possible damage, when you pretty much always want to lasthit at the highest possible damage, not the lowest.

So many heroes can rape unfair Sniper bot. E.G. viper, QOP, Necrolyte, Drow etc. The problem is that if you do not use these heroes, then unfair sniper bot dominates you not by last-hitting, but through headshot.
But the general idea of playing against unfair bots to improve lane control/dominance is good. One can learn how to control creep equilibrium, hero positioning, line-of-sight, last-hitting etc.
For specific last-hitting practice, unfair viper is a good challenge. With adequate positioning, it's possible to stay out of his 500 range and focus on last-hitting practice (because viper has a huge advantage with nether-toxin).

I did the SF exercise for a while and found it helpful though I know a lot of people make the (probably correct) point that it messes you up a little because you're adjusting to a bizarro world that never happens. I think most people, though, are hitting too early and not too late so getting a lot of practice to adjust yourself down some is fairly helpful for anyone looking to actively improve that skill.

I think it's better just to host a bot game and play vs bots on hard since they will deny like there is no tomorrow.

Sniper bot.
Just Sniper bot.
Seriously that thing is just brutal. With the instant hit attack and the headshot damage to chase you off the wave good luck getting LHs or denies. Especially as a melee hero and/or with low base damage.

Obviously if you pick heroes that can completely outlane by killing the Sniper bot then sure it's easy, but if we're simply practising last hits, then he's pretty good for it.

Valve should release Achievements for stuffs like that. They can even do it for every hero. I'd consider cm out-cs a unfair sniper bot as a life time achievement lol.
On topic, I don't think anyone needs much last hitting practice, for example as a safelane carry, one just needs to put 90% concentration on last hitting for first 6-8mins and then you shouldn't have problem to last hit after that. Just grab a replay of freefarming Burning/Black playing AM as a reference and practice a few games with what you watched.

How do you choose what hero the bot will pick?

Lasthitting decent = creepstalling when possible.
And many, many, many people just don't do this at all... I actually think to train alone, whiteout any opponent at first helps you more than against some überbot.

Ya, lane control/maintaining lane equilibrium is critical in a carry player, which is why i mentioned burning/black's replays. But i think when people say they want to practice last hitting they are onto the more basic stuffs.

Or the guy just starts autoattacking the enemy Cata while your own is still at 100% :D.

every hero is pretty different when it comes to last hitting. im solid at last hitting (beat most ppl at mid with sf doesnt even matter if they have high base damage heroes) and watching mushi makes me feel like a complete noob. gotta play more to get better, not watching replays. it doesnt even help you at all past the very very basic things like how to last hit under tower.

One of the issues I have with the SF exercise is that it gets you used to last hitting...with SF. Every heroes feels a bit different, and the thing that messes me up with SF is the fact that he has next to no turn rate, and underestimating turn rates is one of the main reasons I miss last hits (especially since i have auto attack off)
I consider myself really good at last hitting in FF conditions, but that kind of practice doesn't help at all when 1v1ing mid.
