Eh not really. It's a bit of a shock since almost everything does -something-, but it's not that bad.

Quite simple? You get base items and recipes that's basically it.

to be fair I had trouble navigating the shop until I just decided to typ the items I wanted lol.

i pretty much stopped typing item names in the bar once they implemented the grid feature. now i just have a custom list (recommended items thing) for pretty much every hero so i never even need to look for anything

ow yeah I do that too, add items to the reccomended items, like Meka force and phase for Windrunner

This isn't 100% true, especially mid lane. There's a lot of times later on around level 4-6 where I want the lane pushed so I can get the rune or look to dive them on tower, so even if I have a 100% chance to deny a creep I won't for that reason alone.

I felt dumb after figuring this out.
PROTIP!: After you've become accustomed to the shops. Toggle the views (4 Yellow squares, top right hand corner of the shop window, next to "Suggested Items") It toggles between the default and alternate shop browsers.

Coming from Dota 1 I found the shop to be confusing at first, but then I realized it's actually the exact same thing. You have one tab of consumables (ancient of wonders), one tab of stat items (sena) etc.

Also useful is changing your recommended items, and using Quick Buy.

lol in dota1 i used to hotkey all the shops in fountain in control group and when ever im about to die use the hotkeys to buy what i need.... cant really do that in dota2 bc the shop hotkey system suck

Someone else mentioned this before but, if you have stuff on quick buy, you just mash your quick buy key and it tries to buy all the recipe components you can afford.

just have your next item in the quick buy slot and then just right click them as you're dying? that's what i do...
edit: or mash the quick buy key like theyango said.

If you spam your quick buy hotkey quickly it skips some of the stuff but removes it from the quick buy list. A little annoying. :/
