There currently is no good way to split people who want to tryhard from those who want to dick around. Most of the time I dont WANT to play seriously, and personally I dont give a flying fuck if you want to tryhard the game that I want to build a mask of madness on Zeus. Imma do it.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the fact that Valve has dragged its feet on establishing a way to split the different mindset of its players. don't bring this shit here. You not liking the fact that its true doesnt make it any less accurate.
I think he meant to take it to an appropriate thread outside of GD, where it will be discussed by having people yelling the same arguments at each other for 30+ pages until the thread is finally closed.

This.
Every discussion about that topic goes to shit, so don't do it here.
Hell everyone knows where people stand already and those threads end up being either a few particular people arguing circles around each other making no headway, or low post-count users that don't read the thread saying the same shit that's been said a hundred times. It's simply not a topic worth discussing unless Valve gives us something new to work with.

But remember that there are nine other people in the game, four of whom are on your team. When EE does something like bottle-crow one-position jungling Storm and demands his team play around that, he's implicitly saying his fun is more important than theirs. It's not any better than that random douchebag the QQ thread is full of posts about, that guy who last-picks Drow and is all mid or feed. And that kind of thing gets worse when you combine it with the attitude of tryharding and the assumption of captaincy. It's basically the player saying, "I am better than you, therefore I do not need to try. You are bad and therefore can only function with my guidance, which you will accept without questioning." And that may be true, but just because someone's fat doesn't mean you need to say so publicly.
Edit: Demon is a good comparison. He got flame because of the way he played in competitive matches, but in pubs he was entertaining as hell by doing stupid shit like QB/SB KotL. His belief was that pub Dota is for trolling and having stupid fun, and his play and in-game attitude reflected that. Merlini tries pretty hard in pubs. He wants to play well and win, and his play and attitude reflects that. His games are fun, but they're also pretty serious business. The disconnect with EE is that he has different standards for himself and for everyone around him. He can go QB/SB KotL, but you better not, and you better leave the chicken alone and pool his KotL regen so he can afford that QB. Why do people think he's purposely doing stupid shit? Unorthodox doesn't mean awful. KP's played QoP / Storm / Invoker solo safelane in actual matches before, and Envy's done the tranquils ---> soul ring build on Storm in those games. It has nothing to do with it being bad. It has everything to do with the fact that playing that way warps the game experience of the other 4 players on your team given how they have to play around you. Which in general is a self-centered and shitty thing to do to pub teammates.
Whether it's good, or trolling, etc. is irrelevant. It essentially puts your teammates in a situation where they have to choose between winning and having fun because if they don't submit to letting you do what you want (e.g. hogging crow in order for jungle Storm to work), you are far more likely to lose the game.
Granted, this is not exclusive to Envy or even to unorthodox play. It applies to even "conventional" carry play. I will always insta-repick things like Anti-mage, FV, or PL, because I hate playing those heroes in pubs and if I trade them, everybody loves to play those heroes in a "you have to baby me and play entirely around me" way that I absolutely abhor playing with in pubs.

Consider this me banning any discussion on ranked ladders/visible MMR unless Valve makes a change to the game that warrants the discussion at all. The discussion simply degenerates very quickly into meaningless argument and there's really nothing to discuss until then.

In that case can we also ban talking about tryharding, pros attitudes in pubs, and the like? Its the same stupid argument.

Still, it's an argument that has drawn on long enough to lock threads before. Regardless of who is right or wrong, the argument has been beaten to death already, probably best to leave it at this.

Again, it has nothing to do with EE "trolling" or anything like that or not trying hard to win. The way he chooses to play might be legitimate. But in order for it to work, it requires his team to essentially be his bitch by giving him everything (pooling him, letting him hog courier, etc.), which is obviously un-fun for other people.
It's exactly like LuckoftheIrish said--he prioritizes his fun over other peoples', which is to an extent natural, but the extreme to which he takes it isn't.

I'm sure he has to let off his steam somehow from the amount of ancient stacks he made for Loda.

Imagine the training regimen: 8:00 breakfast 9:00-12:00 train stacking ancients 12:30 lunch 14:00-20:00 scrims 20:00 dinner
Constantly having friends who are way worse in dota than me, I have spend too much time thinking about what kind of nonsense training people could do to become better. My favorite is still running laps around the map for half an hour as warmup. Over the years I have actually become decent at shouting smart and correct(yes, I wish) things at people during games.

I dunno just from watching EE stream it usually seems like his teammates appreciate his tryhardness and like playing with him... I think there is also a factor where people just have to accept that for better or worse different standards WILL apply to popular pro players. Its not just that they can get away with it, its that behaviour that would be bad/unthoughtful for most players actually isn't for them because of how it is received by their teammates. (ie its not "unfun" to play with EE doing that shit)
Myself, I think EE tryhard soloqueue is much much better from the perspective of the pubber who queues into him then say Merlini who allways 5-stacks (I love merlini and his stream dont get me wrong) so 1) you never get to play with him 2) you very rarely have a chance playing against him.

I'd add that, from a support perspective, it's much more fun to sacrifice yourself for your carry when you know before the game starts that he's half-competent to make something out of it. If he's not a douche about your "support duties", of course.

I hate when carries are douches.. The most annoying things are mid pudges, who dont even check ward inventory (to notice that all obs wards have been bought + placed) and keep raging "wards plz mid river" every minute lol at least check the inventory to see its been sold out whole game.
I'd love to play for EE because he takes his $^^@$^ seriously and is trying to win the game, not play carry on a meepo just because "lol im a pro player, I can do whatever I want" mentality.

So, with the advent of the DOTA2 MLG league I was actually thinking about trying to find a team/in house with some peeps... I know there is an SC2 team thread, is there a similar one for DOTA2 on TL and I'm missing it?

There was a LFT thread but it dried up a while ago afaik. In-house thread is down in dota 2 general somewhere.
