Thinking MLG not having any financial incentives is much more unreasonable than other way.

LOL, the way people were talking I thought he did it in a real match, it was a pub game, lets get serious here. 1 in 5 of my pub games has someone pause spamming.

Why are you guys saying EE's playstyle is suited for ixdl? Have you guys even played a game there? There's a reason he prefers pubs over that league.

EE does shit like using the crow constantly throughout the entire early game while deliberately avoiding having any impact on the game after picking a high-impact hero. That's something akin to stealing last hits with a support: playing in such a way that negatively impacts your team. And then, on top of that, he makes tons of demands, so he ends up being a burden on the team a significant portion of the time.
The reason he tends to WIN is because he's tanked his MMR with his shitty Storm build enough that the people he plays against are bad enough that he can get away with poor strategy.

You clearly missed Slasher's interview with Eric Johnson @TI3 where Eric basically said "we don't see subsidizing the scene as a healthy model for growth and the future". There's no way there is any kind of special deal here. Eric also stated that they were actively working with organizers to help them provide value to consumers and to help them basically make money off of providing that value.
Considering MLG's Gamebattles/Play system, and how it is gonna be integrated into their upcoming "seasons" leading up to Anaheim, and considering that valve Tournament information page that was being linked not so long ago, I'm guessing MLG and Valve were working out agreements regarding making players pay to participate in Dota 2 Tournaments (something that is by and large new to Dota 2). There may even be some kind of sweet client integration but I doubt that part.
TL;DR: MLG and Valve were merely working out the licensing and legal issues involved in running a pay-to-enter public online league.

Pretty sure one of the main ways EE got big was from being the top ranked player in ixdl (and contested with rtz for it).
Probably doesn't really play there now that he has a legitimate team.

Never base pro skill on what you see in pubs. Rare is the game someone like EE is actually going to bother REALLY tryharding a pub.
Look at actual matches, not pubs.

Look at actual matches, not pubs. The issue with his play is that he's tryharding in all the wrong ways. He's tryharding in pretending that he's the team captain and the 1 position of every pub game, while playing shitty builds at the same time. Things like that are incredibly obnoxious, and he definitely deserves all the ire he draws from the people unlucky enough to end up with him in their games.
Disclaimer: sometimes he is in fact the 1 position. A lot of the time he shouldn't be trying to be the 1 position on the hero he's using.

People can say one thing and do other things behind it, that's the good thing about being private owned companies.

I'm a huge EE fan, but even I can't disagree with what Acritter is saying here.
Pick storm, go mid, hog crow 90% of the game while split pushing and jungling exclusively.
Using Storms ability as a mid to create space for his team? Nah, gotta play him like Antimage.

The other day he EE played as AM and didn't do well after the laning phase (he went mid, got bottle, phase boots, PMS against Pudge). He even got pooled so he got the PMS early. Anyway, after he got killed over and over, then he just gave the excuse that he's a roaming support AM.

Who the fuck has any right to criticize how someone plays in their pub games?
Today your telling EE not to play like a selfish fuck, tomorrow youl be telling me not to get totally trashed, queue up a game, pick tree and forget that living armor can be used on anyone but myself. WHERE WILL IT END?
