The only thing she lacks is harass potential. How exactly is she not amazing? Lacking harass potential? She has 320 base movement speed, 5 base armor, and a 130 damage aoe nuke.

Her low melee damage means she can't just right-click someone out of lane. You need another hero for the right-clicks while Siren stacks and pulls. Also, she has 6 base armor.

Also, I managed to steal Medsa's ult several times but was just too close to it to use it effectively. Once I stole it, I got turned to stone and died to split shot.

I don't think Naga is very good on paper, but she's good against the 2 most OP heroes in the game: wisp and batrider. This makes her one of the best supports now, imo.

And actually, she's probably worst against Bat, because he can just kidnap and kill her before she can get her ult off, which gives your team a lot more leeway in the next fight.

She has to run up to hit them, and has to use mana to make it work. Sure, she can pressure an offlaner, but she can't harass out a trilane like, say, Visage can. That's her big weakness.

To be honest though I still like Naga as a carry...
...no I'm not just saying that because she's one of my best heroes. >_>

That said naga's broke as fuck. 130 damage at level 1 is pretty goddamn hefty for an 80 mana cost spell. 220 at rank 4 or something like that @.@

Once it gets to that level, you're looking for the -armor much more than the magical damage. But at level 1, there are something like four or five heroes who can deal more damage than her with a single spell, and none that can do an instant AOE cast like that.
I stand by my guns. It's high-damage.

220 isn't high damage. Armor reduction is not damage.
At level 1 its nutso broken though. As is the rest of the hero.

Because carry Naga > support Naga.

Even if you think the damage on riptide itself isn't that spectacular it's still AE, -armor which is going to be coupled with a right click hero. That auto attack damage is going to more than make up for the nukes mediocre damage. Put her with gyro flak cannon and people absolutely explode to what would otherwise be harass damage.
I love her, she's quite fun and has everything you could possibly want from a support minus the range. But, she makes up for that in spades. Just have a semi competent team that understands song and life is good.

I find it funny that ultimate orbs (the only "orb" in dota excepting OOV) don't provide any orb-effect (attack modifier/buff placer/whatever).

the best thing about riptide is how good it is at low levels

I was so happy to see Naga picked so much at TI3 but I was so sad it was as a support.
Those swords are made for cutting up the other team damn it! Built-in Manta, BKB-piercing way to stop escapees, AoE nuke/-armor and a built-in initiation/escape mechanism. She's the complete carry package! D:
