She needs to block better and get past the fact that OD crushes on man-fighting and last-hitting level 1. If the OD is bad, she's a hero that can punish that in the long run, but if the OD is good, it can very quickly become hopeless for her. On September 26 2013 23:33 Sn0_Man wrote: OD isn't so bad IMO. He makes mid criminally boring sure but TA was kinda like that too @TI2. I don't like this comparison at all, because a really good TA has always been incredibly entertaining to watch, given how much of a finesse hero she is. A good OD is still just an OD.

Her advantages are like Viper's, so she has a chance, but lacks Corrosive Skin. Has the same weaknesses as Viper as well.

You forgot the part where TA generally takes over the midgame in a way that OD just doesn't, and rewards rotations significantly. It's not just about whether they're fun to watch, it's also that the heroes operate very differently.

Afaik, OD has the highest base armor of any ranged hero.

You'd still have a really good 1v1 laner, but one that isn't so boring, doesn't completely restrict a wide range of heroes, and doesn't stop your opponent from being able to cast anything. If you take away OD's ability to dominate 1v1 matchups, this hero would never get picked ever again. That's why this hero is popular.

Afaik, OD has the highest base armor of any ranged hero. Yup. He's .3 armor ahead of Storm. OD is kind of a fundamentally flawed hero. His schtick is dominating mid, and because of how mid really isn't much of a break-even thing outside of two people taking turns nuking down the waves (which OD patently prevents), the hero turns into a win-hard lose-hard sort of pick. If he's good enough at his job to force a lot of other heroes out, he greatly lowers the picking pool and thus the meta's diversity. If he's not good enough, he never gets picked. The only real middle ground is to rework him so that he fails to counter a lot of heroes and counters a few specific heroes far more or to generally rework him so he becomes an anti-hero version of Dragon Knight. Either way, he fails to be all that interesting.

Right now he seems to just do more damage, take less damage and wins 1v1s. He just seems like the lowest risk of picks for mid.
