I thought that's what we were talking about O.o ah the patch nomenclature is what is misleading. patches = bug fixes, porting heroes. Versions = gameplay changes.

I think i'm correct in thinking that that his core is pretty much treads>blink>armlet (i'm of the personal opinion that blink is pretty crazy on him with his short cast animation on crush I'm not sure on skillbuild tho, max bash or sprint second?

Also consider BKB, really important on him. Sometimes before/instead of armlet. Firstly, its worth noting the first two points of sprint are better than the third (+20 +7 + 5 +7). Mine is usually Crush, Spring, Crush, Sprint, Crush, Amp, Crush, Bash, Bash, Bash, Amp, Bash, Sprint, Sprint. Unless you are an rngod, I dont find E worth maxing until you have good AS items. Sprint is good because it lets you disengage / catch up to blink distance really well. It gives a lot of maneuverability in fights if you time it properly. Comes down to experience with the hero. Also I'm convinced this hero is a Lifestealer Counter.

i was just thinking about choosing to max bash first is because its a damage increase, as well as a reliability increase

4-4-1-2 is the build virtually always. The question is when do you take the first level of bash instead of a sprint (since its almost always before you finish maxing sprint). It's pretty situational depending on how many enemies you are hitting but usually you have the damage and stuns to get kills and you only need to worry about bash once BKBs are up or w/e. That said, I'm usually a sucker for 1/3/1/1 @6 just because RNGG. Pretty sure lifestealer molests slardar assuming decent play but I suppose I could be wrong. It takes 5 seconds before LS's slow decays to the point where sprint 4 even just balances it out. Yes amp damage wrecks LS when its on him but if you amp first then LS can rage it off and if you save it till after rage then you aren't stunning him and therefore you are probably losing your right-click war quite handily since feast is practically as good as amp and if you use sprint then you kinda self-amp as well. Yes you can be a bashlord but by the time you attack fast enough LS is probably a bashlord too and abyssal is OP as fuck (wish void could buy that item). All that said, Slardar certainly does better than some vs LS. LS also doesn't need a blink to initiate assuming decent draft (puck/storm/whatever) which is also quite big.

When you get that 1st rank Bash depends a lot. If you are in a vs. melee lane, the point of Bash is good for trades/man-fights, but against ranged heroes or in a freefarm lane, having 1 point Bash doesn't do anything compared to the loss of level 7-9 gank/man-fight power. Armlet is situational. Blink, BKB, and AC are your core items, and Armlet can be good if your development is good to enhance your solo-killing ability and general DPS, but it's simply not a game-changer the way the other 3 items are.

The thing is, this is a bit misleading because the relative value of movement speed goes up at higher amounts. Pretty much everyone can get to ~420 MS because +10-15% MS boosts are all over the place (Yasha, Drums, Track, Empowering Haste, etc.). It's the later ranks of Sprint that actually pull you ahead of the pack. Of course, those later ranks might not be necessary if your team has some of these other effects to fill the gap for you, but it depends on the game.
