Anyway yeah the meta changed but given some thought something sorta struck me. A while ago you needed to commit to a draft to pushing and win the game in the mid game. Neither IG and old Na'Vi played their games out late either (IG was always weak even in their dominant peak at playing out the late games in terms of decision making). I still feel games can spiral out of control and snowball in terms of gold/xp advantage ever since the kill bounty was increased, games ending in 20 minutes happen more frequently now then it did.

Vampiric Aura should generally not be skilled in lane, as it ruins your lane control. It is best skilled at the point in the game where lanes break up and you want one or more ranks to be able to farm neutrals while staying full HP. If I spent 45% of my mana pool on one spell it better be a golden bullet, not a 2 second stun with crappy damage. It's not even good for stealing kills as half of it is damage over time. The damage scales from 110-400. For a nuke, this is actually VERY good. It's only 45% of your mana pool if you deliberately choose not to build any mana itemization despite several options being quite good for him. Mathematically even if you are only getting 2-3 stuns in a fight (which is actually very doable with typical item selection on SK e.g. Wand+Drums), you need to get like 3 crits to match the damage of that even with Treads+Armlet, which requires you to be able to stand and autoattack for 20 straight autoattacks. This just doesn't happen until you have a BKB--you simply don't have the mobility to get that many hits in without one in a normal fight. So 4th rank Crit by level 7 is really pointless.

Itemwise I'd do something along the lines of Treads Wand Midas for early game, then Armlet + BKB or Armlet + SnY into whatever.

It's still fairly good. 300 damage on a 140 fixed mana cost nuke is fine, and the value of crit simply doesn't get high enough until you have damage items and you're high enough level to have both maxed anyway. With regard to items, Drums are extremely good for SK given that he actually needs every stat provided by the item. +All stats is very important for SK early. You want mana to abuse the ridiculously low CD of Hellfire Blast, and MS is a very high value stat for SK going into midgame due to his mediocre base movespeed and no blink/mobility skill.

The spamming of his heal I kinda find to be great if you can get the boots up. i don't know that i'd rush them on dazzle. perhaps if i got a lot of gold early, a first blood or some kills in lane/ganks I'd pick them up. I generally like to get urn or medallion on dazzle first depending on what is going on.

Well I do actually tend to pick up a kill early through his heal, just wait for them to be around loads of creeps then boom, people always underestimate it. Medallion though? cool, I've never got that on him before, urn I used to get but I kinda felt it becomes slightly redundant after you get mana boots and even more so with mek later.
