The ability of removing Naix's slow, DK's stun and ability to dive tower with bomb shield can bring back some aggressive plays. It removes all buffs, but certain triggered buffs are re-applied at certain intervals because they are triggered and re-cast by a dummy unit. For example, Naix's Open Wounds is triggered this way for the diminishing slow % (though Valve broke the buff removal interactions for this in DotA 2-purging Open Wounds causes the buff to be removed completely, see: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=52000).

Just realized that I have 20 wins in 25 games with Mirana since I started to play her like support. When Icefrog will stop it?
|
Why would he? Potm isn't overpowered...

I feel like Mirana is a decent carry, the problem I have with her is just that the arrow is huge, slow and makes tons of noise. The rest of her skillset is really good. Starfall is a good early game AoE nuke, Leap is good for every situation ( chasing or escaping ) and Moonlight Shadow is just super OP.
Playing her as support is a waste imho.

Just spam Aphotic Shield on creeps for good harass (should be very effective now that it explodes even if it doesn't absorb all damage), pull creeps and save you carry with shield + death coil.
He's not a bad ganker, his spell do a decent amount of damage, but he doesn't have a disable, so the other support really needs to have a stun. And he also probably has mana problems if you want to harass with the shield. I think he could be ince paired with a Crystal Maiden, or something... how is he not a bad ganker, give me one hero that is currently played 4th, 5th position thats isnt a better ganker than him Keeper of the Light, Dazzle (early poison sting is just, and if you level it up the hero becomes even worse). I would say support Gyro is as bad as a ganker as Abbadon - good with a disabler, useless without. Tree is about as bad too. AA is a bad ganker without a setup, too.
Sure, non of these are first pick/ban supports, but they do see play every once in a while.
I don't think the Aphotic Shield on creeps harass is bad. You throw it on a creep that is low and about to be lasthitted by the enemy, and he has to run 650 range away, or get the damage. If he runs, he's probably missing that creep and another one as well.

Mine is ignore game, boots first, roam around and shoot arrows at people until you hit.

Playing her as support is a waste imho. She's quite mediocre as a 1st position core, mostly because her late-game fighting ability is still pretty underwhelming. Her damage dealing ability is heavily dependent on her items, even compared to other carries (e.g. comparable ranged Agi carries like Drow or Luna get a lot more damage off of their skills in a teamfight than she does), while she also doesn't have outstanding farming power unless you really buffer her mana regen to the point where she can spam Starfall (e.g. Linken's).
The appeal of support PotM is that she is a great solo ganker if your lanes have initiating stuns because she can throw arrow from beyond Smoke break range or night time vision. If your roaming is effective, you can transition into a Hand of Midas and farm your way into a midgame 2nd/3rd core.

What? 3 Poison Touch before maxing Shadow Wave is very typical.

It's just worse than putting it on yourself and running at him, though. You push the lane in either case, so you may as well pick the option that more reliably puts damage on him and gives you the chance for the kill.

Dude you're the fellow wanting me to gank on Mirana and THEN get a midas.

Depends, obviously. If you are doing some cheesy sd Dazzle + stunner trilane, maxing shadowave is preferred. Otherwise, i can see getting 3 in poison touch.

I'm aware that there are a lot of situations where Wave first is the right choice, but the implication that leveling Touch early is bad is wrong, because it's very normal to get 3 Touch first to get the ministun.

It's not good if your roaming effectiveness is low, but if your roaming effectiveness is low, PotM will be useless from that situation regardless of what happens.
Mirana is going to need items and levels really badly regardless. She doesn't have the skillset to operate as a full-on support. But as a support/roaming hero, it's going to be hard to find that farm/levels off lanes, and in general having PotM as your 4th position hero will stretch your team's resources thin. The Midas lets you get the most out of the meager farm available (particularly allowing you to do hard jungle camps), and it's perfectly acceptable for you to step back and farm when you've ganked lanes successfully and set up the rest of your team to control the midgame.

dude you could get an actual useful item for that money. like mek. and unless you are like five kills/assists by ten minutes that midas is going to be slow as hell. by the time it pays itself out game will be decided. i think that shit is fucking weird.

It's not even a ministun, it's a full second disable, getting level 3 poison touch is pretty much standard in plenty of team compositions.

How long does a stun needs to be so that it is no longer a mini stun?

It's not good if your roaming effectiveness is low, but if your roaming effectiveness is low, PotM will be useless from that situation regardless of what happens. That's kind of the issue with mirana - her early game ganking utility and just general utility is great, but she is nearly a useless hero if your ganking / roaming doesn't go well. You can't really safelane free farm her for an extended period of time (well, you could, but there are so many other heroes you'd rather give that kind of farm to), so you practically need this hero to go around the map roaming.
I'm not sure I'd recommend midas though.

Some good disables start at 1s at level 1. It's also an issue with Dazzle because IIRC he has/had a ministun in all levels of poison touch that disables TPs, apart from the late 1s stun at levels 3/4.

I think she's great at pub level as an offlane. Not against people who gank good or against certain heroes, but your usual pubber can't beat level 1 Leap and you can get sit and get xp for your skills so you can go gank. Early if you want since you are not reliant on your ultimate.
She farms and carries from the safelane, as long as your team isn't moronic and decided to take it to 50 minutes for no reason. In a reasonably organized team that understands the importance of finishing a game as soon as possible she's imo a fine carry. She will be a force much sooner than usual suspects like Naix, AM, Void, etc.
She sucks if there are no setup abilities on your team though.
edit: as a bonus, she counters pudge (most played hero loll) really hard. if he hooks a teammate, 5 sec arrow and kill him for the trouble. if he hooks you, start mashing Leap and you're usually fine, especially if the pudge player is on a bit of ping.

So Cold Snap and Winrunners shackle (when only on one target) are proper stuns?
