Constantly stacking with multiple people of which 1-2 create new accounts reguarly (+ the obvious pick of op shit )

His main account: http://dotabuff.com/players/93945652 2400games, 60%
I wouldnt worry about it anyway, not the first Wisp stacker, won't be the last

I dont know what you want to say with the first sentence, winrate has very little to do with skill, if thats what you're trying to say. (Especially not when u stack in the majority of your games AND pick the ridiculous heroes)

Edit: I haven't encountered more than 1-2 wispstackers in ~1500 games (this doublestarguy), and i play where you would probably meet those guys, so its not really an issue.

EDIT: Stacking with friends who are better than yourself usually leads to a bad winrate if you dont play exclusively in stacks.
Nearly all my friends who started playing Dota with me have a sub 50% winrate UNLESS they queue with me.

I didn't actually mean to quote you.

Hard to imagine dota2 taking over LoL in korea or even catching on a little. It'd be like warcraft taking over starcraft.

About a year/year and a half? ago WC3/Dota was more played than SC:BW in PC Bangs rankings. If you search through TL/Google you should be able to find the rankings, maybe even something more current.

Maybe for a very brief time it was. But it's arguably 10x harder for the same thing to occur right now. LoL is at the peak of its popularity with koreans at the top of the world, it doesn't have as much hardware requirements, and I just can't imagine koreans liking Dota's graphics. Not just that but LoL managed to top dota2 even in China. I think Dota 2 is just too late now. Who knows when stable servers and a good amount of keys will be distributed over there?

But I guess some players is better than none, and LoL players over there might be curious and just try it out. Hopefully Nexon will put out enough advertisement.

Personally I thought the commercial was terrible. Seemed like they made an assumption as though people already knew what dota2 was and aimed it at those people instead of new players.

I never really understood this whole "LoL is currently the most popular game in Korea, therefore it's impossible for another game to become more popular than it" How do you think LoL got to be the most popular game in the first place? Obviously it surpassed the other top games that Koreans played, so why can't another game surpass LoL once it's released as well? Also, hardware requirements don't matter because a vast majority of video games in Korea are played in PC bangs anyway.

And of course LoL is bigger in China right now than Dota 2 is. How does LoL "manage to top Dota 2 in China" when Dota 2 isn't even released in China yet? Unless you meant Dota 1, which then I don't know the info on that. But Dota 2 was JUST put into an extremely limited closed beta like a month ago, and Steam isn't used in China (or rarely is), so what did you expect? Obviously a game that has been fully released is more popular right now than a game that isn't even available yet lol.

I'm not saying Dota 2 will or won't ever become more popular than LoL in China or Korea, who knows what will happen, in fact LoL probably WILL remain the more popular of the 2 if the success in America and Europe are any indicator. But the reasons you're giving for why LoL will never be surpassed in those countries just seem a bit silly.

The lol allstar match had half a million viewers on fengyunzhibo, while the g1 league final at the same time had 80k.

And LoL got popular in korea cause broodwar died, same kinda happened in china, by splitting between dota1 and dota2.
So you logic kinda fails, as LoL didn't just surpassed all other games, it just came in time to fill the "void" after broodwar died. So seems quite unlikely that the majority will ever switch to dota2 as there is no need.

Abbadon is more support so yeah, arcane mek is good. Whatever comes after that is situational, but shivas could also be good.

Some alternative early game items could be urn, tranquils, ring of basilius. Soul ring seems like a lost item nowadays on anyone except tinker. Bottle perhaps as well.

So is 6.78 implemented in dota2 now? It says "3rd June patch", but I didn't see my steam download anything in the last 2 days. I guess it's only in test client?

It's only test client, will come to main client some time this week depending on how many bugs there are ( can be tomorrow, can be next monday if it's really bad)

Maybe the plan is to release some heroes tomorrow so they wanted to test all the new patch stuff earlier. (considering they don't have much time to put new heroes in to be allowed for TI3 and they've been holding them back for the qualifiers)

Either way I'm assuming wed or thursday night is when the patch comes to main client.

Ah come on, Meepo is great. Update will just make him even better.

First game I played pub Meepo (either random or a swap from random, can't remember) I actually got an even K/D and had a really good time in-lane. Unfortunately some of the other lanes fed so we lost. But I actually got a "good job, Meepo" at one point in my first Meepo pub game. So proud. X-D

Admittedly I'd put in about seven hours or so vs bots to practice multitasking on Meepo at that point...and I've been too scared to actually deliberately pick him yet. >_>

Really want to play more Meepo. Although I just flat out can't get the hang of that blink-poof combo. My fingers just sort of...completely fail at it.

it just takes practice practice practice, like play vs bots a few games and just practice poof blinking and you should have it down in notime
I got called notail once when I played meepo and I aint even good with him :D, he shouldnt be that much of a challange to starcraft players

I know I missed the discussion by like 5 pages but sometimes i get veil on veno if I dont need to buy any big support items.
makes his aoe ticks hurt really really bad.

yeah meepo isnt actually as hard as people make him out to be. I mean, hes def one of the harder in the game, maybe the hardest, but hes much much more manageable then everyone seems to think. The hardest part is just managing control groups properly imo, and we are all starcraft players so that shouldnt be too much of an issue XD

Meepo is the only hero that actually take real micro.

That's why in pubs.
In all my 300+ games played, the amount of time I have seen this hero played is next to zero.
No one dares to try out Meepo.
That's why Icefrog buff his innate magic resistance from 25% to 35%( this is actually a huge buff).

Though there are other factors.
In Dota 1,the speed of his net/AoE is faster/bigger than the one in Dota 2.
Possibly the Dota 2 Engine.
Same like how TA Psi Blades being better in Dota 2 due to difference of engines.

Earthbind actually has huge delay compared to DotA1. Proper selection-boxes don't exist in DotA2 too. There's also some other things I can't really describe, but it definitely feels easier to play Meepo in DotA1.

I actually had this attitude when I started practicing on him "hell, I do more multitasking than that when I'm in SC2, easy right?" It still feels different though. Not terrible just a bit awkward. Like I psychologically know I should be able to handle it but my fingers just won't always do what I tell them to.

That being said I agree its pretty overblown, but people still avoid him because he's harder than most others. Personally I've rebound my hotkeys to Z through to B for other unit micro in DOTA2. I like having items on 2-7; so its a little different to my SC2 setup.

I dunno, meepo is so much risk for so little reward, even with the buff. Not that I don't think it's an intelligent change, just that the hero is so pointless. I mean, sure you can jack off farming the entire jungle at once but PL can do that just as well/better while actually using the farm. You have to pull off some sick farming the whole jungle AND ganking with meepo but that is so incredibly optimistic for a hero with quite poor base stats and an incredibly unreliable stun/root.

I get that certain people find him fun to play due to the incredible amount of "play" in the hero (similar to a hero like puck, although somewhat different skills involved), but I just don't see how meepo can ever be a good hero

I dunno, I think meepo can be very strong as a carry in the right lineup. That is, when there isnt anything that can just straight up gib him. He makes good use of the mass woods farm because he benefits from the exp. The root isnt terribly unreliable once you have many meepos, because at the very least you can block enemy heroes escape even if they do micro away from the net.
I dont know how well he would actually work in comp play but I think he is actually quite strong at least in pubs.
Poof hurts like a bitch in the midgame and he can be quite a monster in the lategame as well.
That said he has like the worst early game of any hero ever. At least he has good base armor.

Don't agreed.

His mid-game potential is one of the best(lvl6-11).
He has huge damage potential.
He can farm faster than PL during the mid-game due to Poof.

He is the only hero that can level up much faster than any other hero in the game due to his clones mechanics( Each clone counts as a separate hero hence he can farm multiple lane and even the jungles simultaneously.
Hence, this gives him mid-game dominance due to faster leveling and more farm.
And theoretically speaking, Meepo also has great split-pushing power.

The weak thing about Meepo is that he is weak to high-burst nukes.
And he has low base stats in the early game.(His net got " nerfed " Dota 2 due to engines difference same case with ES).

It was Niuwa. I don't remember many competitive matches of him but he destroyed high level chinese pubs which is legit.

Go check some VODs of his play, Meepo can be a legit hero it just takes a lot of skill. No hero can do as much split pushing as meepo once he gets boots of travel.

Meepo really really isn't strong level 6-11. He is strong post 11, sure, but strong is relative. He is still squishy, has low right click damage, etc. Yes, for a short period he may farm faster than pl, and poof is awesome at both damage and at mobility once you hit 3+ meepos. That doesn't make him a legit hero. The fact that his power curve kinda flatlines after the 5th meepo pops out is another issue.

I mean, when pro-teams can't run AM anymore because they can't guarantee that hero a fast enough battlefury without costing the rest of their team too much, you know that running a meepo isn't really a possibility.

EDIT: bfury and aghs cost around the same amount. ~13 minute aghs meepo would be pretty awesome to see. Could you hit 16 by then?. Yes this is a bit of a tangent.
