IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

Glad I don't play on EU. Seems like wisp stacking is a fad over there

I dont know what you want to say with the first sentence, winrate has very little to do with skill, if thats what you're trying to say. (Especially not when u stack in the majority of your games AND pick the ridiculous heroes)

Edit: I haven't encountered more than 1-2 wispstackers in ~1500 games (this doublestarguy), and i play where you would probably meet those guys, so its not really an issue.

EDIT: Stacking with friends who are better than yourself usually leads to a bad winrate if you dont play exclusively in stacks.
Nearly all my friends who started playing Dota with me have a sub 50% winrate UNLESS they queue with me.

How to get awesome winrate

The "sheever" effect:
Have good friends which are actually good.
Play "ok" yourself (just don't feed and do your basic job .
Only play in 4+ stacks.

Breasts help when you want to achieve this.

I dont think they help with the feeding part

Breasts are made to feed on. That's what I learned in elementary school here at least.

A girl i know managed to be in the Top 10 of Dotabuff winratings when playing only with "her" stack (as a standin and she never played alone).
It works... You just never ever can play alone ... Or they have changed something with the MMR since then.

And yes, your teammates need to be really good ^^ (not pros, but approaching that level).

Seems nexon are quite serious about it.
Ah well, if nexon can't break through in korea i can't see anyone else having a chance.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

apparently, from reddit:

Something like
"This person enjoys Dota 2.
blahblahblahblah
smartphone app blahblah easily accessible dota community blah blah hero/item/league info and find like-minded groups of players to team up with blah upload replays to circlejerk
so we have made this a reality blahblah
now enjoy the dota 2 homepage on pc AND mobile!!"
nothing about dota 2 itself, perhaps they're banking on people's curiosities upon hearing about dota to check it out on their PC and ... MOBILE! omg

Hard to imagine dota2 taking over LoL in korea or even catching on a little. It'd be like warcraft taking over starcraft.

About a year/year and a half? ago WC3/Dota was more played than SC:BW in PC Bangs rankings. If you search through TL/Google you should be able to find the rankings, maybe even something more current.

Maybe for a very brief time it was. But it's arguably 10x harder for the same thing to occur right now. LoL is at the peak of its popularity with koreans at the top of the world, it doesn't have as much hardware requirements, and I just can't imagine koreans liking Dota's graphics. Not just that but LoL managed to top dota2 even in China. I think Dota 2 is just too late now. Who knows when stable servers and a good amount of keys will be distributed over there?

But I guess some players is better than none, and LoL players over there might be curious and just try it out. Hopefully Nexon will put out enough advertisement.

Personally I thought the commercial was terrible. Seemed like they made an assumption as though people already knew what dota2 was and aimed it at those people instead of new players.

I never really understood this whole "LoL is currently the most popular game in Korea, therefore it's impossible for another game to become more popular than it" How do you think LoL got to be the most popular game in the first place? Obviously it surpassed the other top games that Koreans played, so why can't another game surpass LoL once it's released as well? Also, hardware requirements don't matter because a vast majority of video games in Korea are played in PC bangs anyway.

And of course LoL is bigger in China right now than Dota 2 is. How does LoL "manage to top Dota 2 in China" when Dota 2 isn't even released in China yet? Unless you meant Dota 1, which then I don't know the info on that. But Dota 2 was JUST put into an extremely limited closed beta like a month ago, and Steam isn't used in China (or rarely is), so what did you expect? Obviously a game that has been fully released is more popular right now than a game that isn't even available yet lol.

I'm not saying Dota 2 will or won't ever become more popular than LoL in China or Korea, who knows what will happen, in fact LoL probably WILL remain the more popular of the 2 if the success in America and Europe are any indicator. But the reasons you're giving for why LoL will never be surpassed in those countries just seem a bit silly.

Wonder how strong Ursa/Io laning will be in pubs. With FS being buffed 6->15 I can't imagine there's anything that could stand in lane with Tether/fast brown boots.
Ursa in general, should be pretty great now. I wonder if he'll break into the pro-scene beyond being a "flair" pick.

They seem to be pretty close to releasing abaddon. He's one of the few remaining heroes that I'd really want to get ported over, besides terrorblade.
How do you guys usually build him? I remember going for phase, urn, armlet then whatever. Also built basher but I used to do that on many heroes. I think drums would also fit him quite well but I think I quit dota 1 before that was introduced so I don't really know.

Because a lot of the games it surpassed were much older and of a different genre? A lot of people have brought it up, but people also don't want to leave the game because of the time and money they invested in it. Champions that people have unlocked or bought, runes, skins, etc.

And LoL isn't just bigger than dota 2, it's bigger than dota as far as PC bangs go in China.

:D

For Aba i did Phase boots-> MoM-> Basher. But more seriously, i think Aba should go for arcane into meka into quelling blade and wards. Vlads also is now mandatory for a team and he's a good carrier of it so why not.
You can't be burst down so you're the best meka/pipe/gem holder imho. Another fun build was fast Radi since you're so fucking annoying to kill.

I had a phase in DotA pubs when the only thing I played were strength melee heroes and I always had the exact same build: Treads -> Vanguard -> SnY.

Later on I only played Clinkz, Drow and Venge. I always built Orchid on clinkz, Lothars on Drow and both Lothars and Orchid on Venge, so that I always had invisibility and silence on all of them. :D I thought I was a genius, it was good times.
