Glimpsing over this page you almost get the impression that every permutation of the 5 positions has been argued. Either way, I'm impressed by the degree to which people seem to be able to caregorize the difficulty of roles.

I think it's similar to saying X race is harder than Y in Starcraft. There are aspects of each role/race that are harder and can't be directly compared which leaves a lot of room for opinion.

Rly, out of the 1000's of dota game show me a few recent ones where the 1 position player played perfectly, not missing a single lasthit, not dying to ganks ect.

Well sometimes missing a last hit is playing better than getting one this is true at least once every game. so what you are asking for is an example of a game in which a 1 position player got free farm all game and the game ended before his presence mattered. in which case, you know what the 1 position players skill didn't even matter beyond equilibrium control

no Im asking for games where the 1 played perfectly, that is all, I dont care if he got 100 cs by 5 mins or 80 by 20 mins

"Perfect" support play would also mean immaculate lasthitting (and with lower levels and no items to help) -- its just that people don't notice as much when the support misses lasthits on pulled creeps.

I agree and I think its easier to find game where a support doesnt miss any lashthits than a game where the carry doesnt miss a lasthit

What is your definition of perfect. There are plenty of games where the 1 player has shown perfect ingame decision making. That usually shows itself in stompy games. Im sure in those G-1 games you will find atleast one game where the carry literally did not make a shitty decision given his game knowledge and current situation. As a spectator some things might be seen incorrectly because we have full knowledge.

Basically, unless you clarify, we cannot provide.

While it affects the impact a carry player can have, the carry player can still play perfectly under the circumstances he's given. His argument still stands.

What argument? That there does not exist a game where a carry played perfectly? There doesn't exist one where a support played perfectly either. The whole discussion of "is X harder than Y" only exists in the realm of theory.

I think this is a really dumb way to look at thinks. Noone plays perfectly, when someone says "perfect" play it's obviously not literally. It's how hard it is to play a role in the same level the best players in the world do, or something like that. Either way, last hits are just a small portion of the skill set and just looking at it doesn't make sense.

In the end it's subjective, the issue is when people say X role is so much easier and has so little impact in the game when compared to Y. It's close enough that this discussion won't get anywhere.

comparing decision making is a lot more difficult because there are so many factors and what makes a perfect decision in a certain situation would be to hard to agree on but things like missing lashtits, other mechanical thingies can be easly comparable

yes but lasthits are a thing you can measure easly and if a carry misses lasthits you cant say he played a perfect game

Perfect play can't mean getting every single last hit. Even with perfect play you'd miss last hits due to random damage.

I think your decision making can be perfect but your mechanics cannot be. A perfectly played game on both ends would end at the draft all things being equal.

It's time to do a Dota TAS with both teams playing "perfectly". It may look really cool or stupidly boring.

These games are why I love dota. 70 fucking minute long game, both sides have lost raxes. Win vs the same 5 man stack that stomped me the game before. God winning long, close games makes up for all the rage you feel when pubbing otherwise.

WEE, now I have an exam in the morning and I KNOW I WILL ACE IT BECAUSE I WON THIS GAME. YES.

Update: I did not do so well.

This discussion is retarded by the way. In theory this and that.

My personal opinion is that Carry role is hard in a completely different way than 4/5 support is

being on the 1 means that in the early game, all you really have to do is farm, maybe get active if there's a dive or something, its pretty easy in the overall scheme

But as the game goes later and later, more and more rests upon your shoulders, and your PERSONAL DECISION MAKING becomes incredibly important, your map awareness, playing carry is a game of endurance and mental stability, its quite different from playing a support
don't tell me to provide a legend for those charts cause we already got shaella in this thread - eieio | Bulba is my waifu
