wow i didnt know that at all o.o i thought the germinate orb doesn't stack with other orbs

Geminate didn't work with orbs in WC3 Dota

It doesn't "work with" Geminate, the same way other orbs don't. The difference is that in DotA 2, non-proccing attacks can apply CD/proc-chance orbs, while in DotA 1, those orbs overrode other orbs even on attacks they didn't proc.
Maelstrom bear is in the same vein. In DotA 1 you could either get only Maelstrom procs or only Entangle procs, whereas in DotA 2, they can't proc together, but you can get them both separately.

So while it can't proc MKB or crit, it does benefit from the -armor.

same as lifesteal orb and maelstrom orb where mael overrides the lifesteal when it procs?

Does any other orb proc on hit instead of on attack like germinate?

Yeah. Thats pretty much exactly how it works
Welcome to the craziness that is Dota mechanics

tranq urn aquila wand
aka the 4 most efficient early game items in the game (aside from PMS, which is meh on weaver)
vit booster if needed
midgame weaver
this transitions very well into any major 4-5k item into a decent lategame, since your midgame combat potential is equal or better than some joke treads->linkins build 3000 gold cheaper, you can go bkb, deso, radiance or whatever at that point and transition smoothly
it also has a better laning phase and a better power progression

The second attack releases correctly when the first attack finishes, but Geminate's CD check is supposed to happen when the attack is released.

I personally value the Spell Block on Weaver just because of how weaver's played. Its the only hero that I feel can make use of the spell block from Linken most effectively. Your right about the poor build up, I totally agree, but I think that the power of Swarm/Germinate/Shukuchi should be able to tide over that build up period easily. Swarm is a very underrated skill that reduces enemy armor significantly if they cannot find an opening to remove the worms on them, thats what I mean by mid-game presence. Your definition of midgame is different from mine. For me, mid game is by game time 6mins-25mins or so. Usually this period is the time where the first big item is secured depending on how well they farmed etc. Weaver with a Linken by the 25mins is no different from another with a BKB at the 25mins. Its still 1 big item...however the linken provides so much more for weaver imo. About the regen, with a linken there's no reason ever for the weaver to go back to base even if/when the weaver is spamming shukuchi. He wont run out of mana, thus can continue pushing/farming. For me, i find that a weaver after the linken, even just getting a cheap Crystalis gains huge boost in DPS(swarm/germinate) The spellblock on weaver is only useful for split pushing. Weaver isn't even a good split pusher. The stats are AWFUL for weaver as well. You may as well just get a bkb if you really need it. Seriously, can anyone else justify getting a shadowblade and then getting a linkens on top of that? No.
Seriously, the stats are so bad, and bkb is much cheaper and better. Anyone who's played weaver will know just how useless the mana regen is.

I don't know why you think weaver is a bad split pusher. Germinate is so good when you're hitting towers and Swarm/Shukuchi makes clearing waves/getting away so easy.

In any case, linkens isn't even that good for split pushing. Bkb will do the same except it's actually useful in teamfights and more efficient, and his own skills is enough to survive any 1 man gank while split pushing. Bkb will also save you from 2-3 man ganks a lot better than a linkens will.

Also, weaver escapes from 2-3 man ganks really easily with just linkens, because the initiation stuns are usually the ones blocked, and once thats gone.. Its -very- hard to catch weaver

If you've got a magnus, that's a dead weaver. And you're right, weaver is a very slow split pusher without radiance, but I cannot imagine the type of faceroll game you'd have to have to warrant a purchase like that.

I think if you have a decent solo safelane then it's doable but solo safelane never really happens in pubs lol.
