Am has still been trending way down. according to: http://dota-academy.com/hero/19/
I meant more to talk about new heroes being chosen, and that it isn't just buffs or nerfs, but trends do just change regardless.

That's a pretty good situational pick to me.

His pick rate is more or less in line with his pick rate around TI2. http://metagamejournal.com/feb-2013-draft-trends/ According to that, even after ti2 and after his nerf he was picked less often, then more often, then less often, then more often. I don't like the idea of quickly nerfing heroes that become the hate target of the month ala pl, because of how trends take time to change more than anything.

It's very likely that if Icefrog nerfs KotL (which is somewhat likely given KotL's extremely high pick/ban rate, and probably more justified), PL will sort himself out.

Fair, I went off gut feeling without checking as much, but nyx was still a good example of a hero not being picked even after he was just buffed, but taking time for people to "figure it out" so to speak. http://metagamejournal.com/feb-2013-draft-trends/ Look how long after 6.75 it took before nyx began to see more action in general.

Which is what I'm talking about. The fact SEA or china started picking it much faster than western teams even when western teams had the exact same availability shows that a hero being good doesn't mean that it will instantly be popular. It takes time.

It depends what team is playing. DK is happy to pick AM, even with second pick, whereas other teams prioritize naix/druid or even gyro. I think chains is supposed to be a big AM picker?

You can whine all you want about your pub games, but he is far and away from being the best carry. That would go to lone druid. Lifestealer? And also, winrates really don't mean anything. Okay, that's not accurate. It means something, but not a great defining factor. That's part of the beauty of Dota: carry heroes in isolation can only be, to some small degree, compared to each other. The truth is, it's a LOT about synergy, game plan, and team line-ups. For example, PL currently is played mostly as a split push hero + turtle to 60min and then win. But other carries like Lone Druid, Jugg, and even Naga can be played as a big mid-game, 30min gg win line-ups. It really depends. Win rate is hard to use as a really great indicator of strength of a carry simply because it highly depends on the game-plan that is being employed. For example, there's an amazing stat about Jugg and how he is almost unbeaten when games end within 25min, but almost can't win a single game in games lasting more than 25 min. Stats like that help figure out what is behind the win-rates.
