Golem is an amazing spell though, I always seem to get 4-5 people in it. I also think maybe people just don't realize how good F.Bonds can be

I dont like warlock as a whole though. The cd on his ult is just too long. pretty sure you can get something like 200 damage of hp removal which is fantastic for a level one spell.

), and has decent str growth. His heal is pretty powerful with 135/225/315/405 heal, and a good harassment tool especially combined with 600 range and fair damage for a ranged support. But with tranquil boots, harassment just isn't as good. Why harass when they can heal up in 5 seconds and come back and use instant nukes+stuns to kill you and then push the tower. He isn't that good in a tri vs tri situation, can't stop ganks, etc. A victim of the meta game.A couple of things that I think could help him: Giving a speedboost/slow to the heal/DoT. Helps someone being ganked get away, or helps secure kills in lane. Making upheaval instant cast. Allows you to throw it at a gank then run. Alternatively, (I don't know if this would work in wc3), the slow could be increased only when you are channeling, so you can choose whether you need to cast and run (ie saving people from a gank), or if slowing the opponents is more important than anything else you can do (in a teamfight after you cast your other spells, or if an instant cast upheaval won't save people from a gank).

To bring my belated opinion on that matter, KotL/PL lane is simply trending right now, like Dazzle/Huskar lane was in the past, too. People that don't really know how to play either hero try the combo and get results anyway. I've seen that more than the lane played to its best. Kinda disheartening to see someone absolutely fail at playing Phantom Lancer. Maybe I just suck with all heroes that aren't PL.

This can be remedied by forming a trilane with a support that adds to the lane's kill potential (e.g. NA), but in pubs, trilanes aren't a guarantee.

OD Bane should do a decent job of it. enfeeble keeps PL from farming while you are avoiding illuminates and constant astrals keep PLs mana too low to escape regardless of kotl, orbs insta kill illusions and both bane and OD can win the matchups 1v1 if the situation comes to it (where bane goes after kotl charging out of the lane and OD goes to kill PL) But thats just judging b the abilities of the heroes. you still have to play well.

Pretty sure there is no way to just "kill Kotl" unless you massively towerdive or the kotl is bad. I know that approach does work in pubs, because most players are bad with kotl. That's what I wanted to say originally: Most players I see pick that lane though they suck at both heroes. And it kills me a little inside, because apparently not everyone is as good at PL as I am. Which I find hard to believe, because I don't really enjoy PL's playstyle. Though I have to admit, the lane really has lacking kill potential.

I find a PL/KOTL lane isn't so much about the killing potential rather than the pushing people out of lane potential. There's nothing you can do against that much lane harass. Even if KOTL fails to land his illuminate, the PL 6sec lances will still force you out of lane in less than a minute(assuming 60sec= max 10lances, give it half, 5 lances....you will still be forced to run away)

increase casting range of word or upheaval slightly decrease his ultimate cooldown to something more reasonable (less than Ravage)

Your offlane will have a much larger amount of levels and even CS then their opponent.

Which means you can dual mid, dual off lane or jungle to make up for it.
