Now I can't stand playing him. I just get fatal bonds + stats for the hell of it.

At least he has good animation and range. you obviously have never played warlock then upheavel is honestly one of the strongest mass slow spells in the game. use it in a team fight and no one is escaping also shadow word does 40dmg a second or heals 40 hp a second......learn to either throw it on someone with fatal bonds or heal your damn allies.....

. Maybe it's because he just doesn't seem to fit support role in current game.EDIT: I actually think it might be because everything in his kit takes time to materialize. Only his ulti really has instant impact.

And ultimately, saying 'x spell is good' doesn't really equal 'x hero is good'. A lot of spells are good. Out of the 400+ abilities there are in Dota, there are probably more than 350 I'd rather have than upheaval in most situations.

EDIT: I actually think it might be because everything in his kit takes time to materialize. Only his ulti really has instant impact. Actually even his ultimate takes time, Warlock causes more pain over the course of a team fight than most supporting heroes, and his golems deal immense amount of damage when controlled correctly. The only spells i'd prefer to Upheaval, besides ultimates would probably be alacrity/bloodlust or broken stuff like fissure.

I think the main problem is that he doesn't really offer much protection or roaming power. Supports generally need to offer one of the two if not both. A kotl offers protection in that he just does a crapton of damage and in constant skirmish -> disengage he provides mana which is a hard to come by resource early. Could be wrong since I just have a bias against warlock EDIT: Freaking ninja edits! The instant I'm talking about is the stun. You know it's just done something when you throw it down, the rest of his spells you kind of just chill and it kills stuff.

Something like clinkz offlane with Warlock with a couple supports in a defensive tri lane stuff like that.

I wonder how well he would do as a mid who rushes a mek. He can't stand up to every mid, but I bet he could do well vs quite a few of them. Even if he is good in pubs and was good in competitive, I still find him boring to play. People treat him as a support and all you get to do is heal the carry and auto-attack between ults. zzzz

If I ever saw someone drop it in the jungle, I would yell at him. You drop it in lane to get a kill, then send it into the jungle to farm for you.

Current meta: high mobility and utility and stun stacking heroes out of position means long set-ups to quickly resolved teamfights. In theory, warlock is good at teamfights, but in practice, he's meh. His winrate is high because winrate is not a good indicator of anything except how often he is on the winning team in a pub. My winrate with him is around 70% even though I'm terrible with him because he has such a small impact on the game.

-AR Meepo, Viper, Void, Tinker, WR versus KotL(me), Pugna, BH, Rubick Razor ... ... ZERO-MIN PUSH STRAT GO LOL funniest game of my life, but I'd replace Razor with something with a heal(warlock, dazzle, enchantress, chen?) to make the strat perfect. Way too many times we were low on health. Maybe we needed an urn. Oh, if abaddon existed, he'd be perfect on this lineup.

Teamfight heroes are definitely not "small impact on the game" bro...if thats true Teamfight(aka Ultimate heroes) like Magnus, Tidehunter or Engima are useless then. Fatal bonds + Golems is insane in teamfights. It's ginormous stun range is insane and the golems does great damage. Throw in fatal bonds and the entire team has just taken a ton of damage, even fatal damage.
