Got a question. Is there a limit of strange modifiers You can have per item? F.e I have Invoker's piece and it contains Sunstrike/Tornado kills already, is it possible to put more modifiers in it? Or I have to find one more part of set which is strange and put it in there?

I THINK the limit is 5. I have a bounty hunter item with 3 modifiers not including the kill count

Ahhh... so good, thanks for the answer !!! I just need to get Towers Destroyed or Gold Earned modifier then :D

Pretty sure there is no way to just "kill Kotl" unless you massively towerdive or the kotl is bad. I know that approach does work in pubs, because most players are bad with kotl.
That's what I wanted to say originally: Most players I see pick that lane though they suck at both heroes. And it kills me a little inside, because apparently not everyone is as good at PL as I am. Which I find hard to believe, because I don't really enjoy PL's playstyle.

Though I have to admit, the lane really has lacking kill potential.

I dont know. I find a PL/KOTL lane isn't so much about the killing potential rather than the pushing people out of lane potential. There's nothing you can do against that much lane harass. Even if KOTL fails to land his illuminate, the PL 6sec lances will still force you out of lane in less than a minute(assuming 60sec= max 10lances, give it half, 5 lances....you will still be forced to run away)

Which is what Yango is saying, in a pub it could be a little hard but seeing as it doesn't really have much kill potential:

Most offlaners will have a great time in terms of experience
You can trilane your safe lane, crushing the enemy and most likely keeping them very much underleveld, KOTL PL can't really do that. Your offlane will have a much larger amount of levels and even CS then their opponent.

Kotl +PL has the advantage of "winning" against all offlaners though. Which means you can dual mid, dual off lane or jungle to make up for it.

Kotl PL has terrible kill potential unless the enemy offlaner messes up badly. It doesn't "win" against all offlaners compared to many other dual lanes. An offlaner doesn't have to get farm to "win" the lane. If he's getting experience while your offlaner isn't then he's "winning" the lane. The advantage of Kotl+PL is kotl can farm the jungle a lot better than most other supports. He also has good stalling power which PL needs. It's a decent lane but I think it's not as amazing as people tend to think. I'd much rather have a trilane safe then two dual lanes since then you are guarentied to push the offlaner out and kotl can farm the jungle. Two dual lanes could just lead to you drawing even on two lanes instead of winning a lane and drawing even on another. Then again dual lanes are amazing in pubs where people don't know how to tri properly

EDIT: When pulling mid was easier we actually experimented with kotl+pl mid and defensive warding around mid. It was surprisingly effective. I haven't tried mid pulling since changes though

I'm actually not too fond of kotl / pl mid - I'm very hesitant about running dual lane mid without one of the dual laners being a stunner (hell, at least someone with a slow). KoTL / PL is surprisingly vulnerable to smoke ganks, and you will often lose 2 heroes to the smoke gank. Usually when I draft KoTL / PL, its to trilane (again, usually with a stunner). I've had success running offensive trilane with kotl pl, but its hard to say whether it was enemy composition incompetence or its a good lane. One thing's for sure - if the lane goes even until kotl hits ~level 3, you will end up winning the lane, just because of mana advantage.

Yea it was just fun experiment. This was back when you could keep the creeps at mid tower perma with creep pulling and nyx wasn't really that popular yet. Everything you said is 100% kotl trilanes with a disabler is super hard to deal with. Normally get around this by having a mid that can dive into the back line like a qop/bat etc.

I feel like i'm physically obligated to run offensive trilane against any kind of PL, and I have to draft some kind of large impact mid hero (usually QoP) to deal with PL - if I give him even a little room, it'll just be gg.

I hate this hero. I even feel bad when I draft him.

We tried a naix safe with storm middle. It kind of worked even when we were mega behind due to naix bombs punishing positioning mistakes so hard. PL is really weak if you get him without any illusions so you just have to chain disable him. That's kind of the idea behind the storm but don't think it works vs better teams. It was fun though!

Wait I lied just remember it was sylla solo safe with naix trilane and storm middle. Yea man that's why you go naix bomb with storm. Across the map initiation with a fat Mexican. Funniest shit ever Think had a nyx too so nyx naix bombs with storm jumping in later. 3 man rape train.

Problem with drafting that is you fuck yourself if they haven't PICKED the PL yet but you think they will. an AM destroy storm so hard its not even funny.

Obviously you could pick the storm in second stage and you probably did. But if they dont pick the PL and surprise you with an AM.

PS. Kotl/PL it isn't all about the laning. The free TP and easy counter push is also a huge advantage to kotl. Everyone underestimate how mcuh time a single KOTL can create for PL to farm in the midgame.

Yea I'm just joking about it being legit. Don't really think it works vs good teams anyway. Just think it's funny as shit to have a flying fat Mexican with a naix jumping out of him.

Meh, I think the biggest problem about it is that you have to lane Storm mid, which is really situational. It isn't that bad of an idea, tbh - similar to naix / wisp in effect, but a little more burst damage. Works well against non-5 mans.

Pretty much. He's not particularly vulnerable to random ganking, and shutting him down early with an offensive trilane is pretty much the best way to stop him from being a problem later.

Or you take gyro/lina/rubick and HOPE that you can AOE down the illusions until you take a rax.

This actually pretty good vs kotl pl.

Not only do you have that long range gank potential on the PL, but sometimes if the other team if trying to 4-1 recall the pl in, you'll be able to jump the kotl before he can recall pl and get a free 4 kills)

Also storm has surprisingly good AOE, is mobile enough to not get hit by a lot of illusions, and the overload slow is pretty significant against illusions.

Might make more sense to solo safelane the storm, IMO.

I just...don't like storm mid much :[

So, I know that Dotabuff is no longer particularly accurate with ratings, but I noticed that in recent games marked "Platinum" (most of my current games are in Gold), the overall skill on my team was clearly lower than that of the other team. They also happened to be games where there were some particularly ragey people on my team, but I'll chalk that up to luck of the draw rather than causality (though that does contribute to the lack of team skill, since there's no cooperation).

Am I being required to carry these games in order to get the next step in bracket? Has anyone else been in the position of having to carry a game like this, and soon after jumping up in bracket?

This is for solo queue, btw. Unsurprisingly, when I stack with people already in high/vhigh brackets, my games aren't as lopsided.

Ignore your MMR bracket, ignore your "DBR", just play as well as you can, every game. Do your best to improve, and not to flame. Over-thinking ratings and stuff is utterly pointless and only leads to misconceptions.

Oh wow never expected a pro to come along. That was our logic behind it too but thought it required positioning mistakes to really be effective so thought that it wouldn't really work out against better teams. I guess out assumption was wrong then if you like it too.

Found that that gank potential forced PL to be with team otherwise they would always be vunerable since they can't 4v5 if you initiate first and team can save pl if he gets initiated on.

Or build MoM phaseboots on treant.
