Not sure if this has been posted but valve plans to add a solo queue rating.
Someone asked Gabe if there would ever be public matchmaking stats in Dota 2 and why they "shut down" Dotabuff. He responded that, yes, Valve will provide public matchmaking stats, but NOT until they get their matchmaking just right. He said the reason it isn't public now is because they made the current system when they were relatively new and "stupid at it" and that he doesn't want people basing their skill levels off it yet. Since Dotabuff uses the same sort of system that Valve has now, he didn't think it was accurate or informative, hence the implemented privacy settings.
More in the reddit thread but this is what stood out to me.
He also said in the solo queue department they plan to "To give users a better more robust mechanism so that users know how well they play" When referring to them adding a rating system

Sven has to be the worst melee carry to pick razor against. Use a fixed -damage spell vs against a hero with massive + damage. I'd rather see him against void or naix,

Although I cannot account for the validity of the comment, I think it makes sense. For me, with this whole DB debacle, it sort of made sense that Valve's actions would make sense if they had planned on doing it themselves. Now, no clue to what degree it will show stats, but it is pretty neat nonetheless.
Plus, it does make sense. MMR although to some degree it is working, it still feels flawed enough to where I can see how they would rather not have us rank ourselves when the system by which we play is inherently flawed.
Basically Gabe in his interview admit that the matchmaking/player rating of dota 2 is bad, they implemented it quickly to have something that works but still didn't really worked on it.
Obviously I don't find the quote anymore, I read it this morning and can't find it >< edit 2 : rho, in fact my source is this very thread xD
