Curse of the Silent can be used to punish the other team for poking with spells and having nothing to follow up with after or force them to use high cost spells that would reduce their ability to actually fight when forced to. I wouldn't say it's a good teamfight spell but it can be very useful situational and depending on how your team positions before and/or during an engagement. | ||

As for a teamfight spell, yeah it's mediocre at best. In the midst of fights they tend to just be removed instantly or near instantly through regular needed casts. Though it can be used to get in some dmg here and there on certain heroes or retreating enemies. | ||

You missed the core idea behind curse, that sucking mana ability. During laning curse can be an autowin ability for the lane vs many heroes and during teamfight the ability can render 1/2 oppo heroes to be useless with the right combo, especially during early/mid game where some heroes have very tight mana pool (notably those underleveled supports). Maybe i wouldnt call it a 'nuke' but with the new Last word silencer can lock down at least one hero permanently in a team fight with the right combo at the right timing. For whatever reason silencer is mostly seen as a support hero in EU/US -_- He hits so damn hard if he was given any farm and not to say if he could steal some int in early game then the game is pretty much gg before 10mins. But yeah without a team keeping in mind that they need to help out a silencer from time to time he wouldnt work that well, which is the common case in pubs (not so much in chinese ladder from what i have seen though xD). | ||
