yep some other spells linger like that too, it is very stupid.

Weaver's Time Lapse tracks time back before you died, so you can buyback and Time Lapse back into a fight.

Bottle-crow lets you go faster since you don't have issues with running out of mana that way.

Firefly vs. Napalm level 1 doesn't really matter because you're going to pull until level 2 anyway.

I have a question for long time dotaheads regarding IceFrog's competitive intentions. Do you think he has any interest in balancing characters who are virtually never seen at the highest level? Or does he just think "well, some of these heroes are just going to be used in pubs for fun"?

For instance, we're never going to see Treant in a serious match. We're never going to see Skel King, Ogre, Witch Doctor or Visage in a G-League or International final. We rarely (if ever) see Omni, Weaver, etc, etc. The reason for their spare usage is (usually) that other heroes simply do the things they do better. Or do multiple things better.

Do you think IceFrog *wants* to balance these never-seen heroes so that they are used in top-level competitive play? Or, at the end of the day, are some of them just always going to be "fun pub experiments"?

Picks change over time, be it due to patches or more hard to pin down trends. For example, not too long before DotA 2 came around, WD, Visage and Weaver were all staple picks in the competitive scene. I don't know for sure what IceFrog's exact philosophy is, but I could imagine he tries to encourage variety.

What happens if you Time Lapse back to a time you were dead? Say you wait 3 seconds while dead, buy-back, wait 3 more seconds, and then Time Lapse. Does Time Lapse kill you? Or does it reset you to 2 seconds before you died, meaning it doesn't track time while you're dead?

All of the heroes you've mentioned have been seen in serious matches at one point or another, many being first pick/first ban status at one point (visage, weaver, omni) . Treant is being constantly reworked, most people think icefrog is just desperate to get him to competitive status.

The only fun pub experiment hero is slark. If meepo's earthbind still went through bkb he would probably be picked.

Well, in the case of Treant, you can see he is *trying* to make him competitively viable. What generally happens with most heroes is that he will continually make small buffs to heroes that aren't seen in competitive play often and over and over and over until they are finally picked often. For example, I think its only a few small mechanics that stop treant from being picked often (and some damage on his ult). He usually only nerfs heroes heavily that are banned a lot, and usually he doesn't morphling them.

...I miss morphling.

It's still on the list of known bugs. If it's fixed, someone forgot to remove it.

holy shit, i didn't think that the new agi gain on PL will be this good.

PL is the ultimate pub destroyer, rushing tranquil + ring of basilius into diffusal, radiance then manta/heart/bfly whatever. farms so fast, pushes so fast. <3 i think i found my third favourite hero (after rubick and invoker)

The simplest solution is ask nicely that you need lvl2 from whoever on safelane (and then you promise to gtfo right away).

If you're not getting Radiance first as a farming item, it's not really compelling to get Radiance at all.

quelling blade and diffusal is better then radiance imo. Apparently qblade works on illusions so your illusions still become farming machines and you get the more efficient/better teamfighting power.

my starting items are 2x ring of protection and a quelling blade, i usually farm a tranquil boots fast enough to not warrant a regen item unless i feel they're gonna offlane a ranged, then i just get qb later. farms pretty damn well with qb + diffusal as mentioned above

Or just pull the easy camp. Firefly requires you to expend a lot of mana, and while Bottle-crowing solves your mana issues, it's troublesome for your laners if you have to tie up the courier that early.
