Pub games are only bad if you treat everyone in a way guides like that teach you to treat everyone imo.
@fb: My point about that isn't that I think TA isn't hard - it's about claiming VS is great for starters. She is what I'd call the most difficult support hero in the game simply because positioning/split second judgement are more crucial on her than anyone else.
LoL community is bad -.-
Stupid surrender.
Coming from any other community, however, you HAVE to get used to the idea that you will suck, you will be flamed because you suck, you will be flamed a lot until you stop sucking, and then the flame reduces only by a little bit. Other games just don't have that (or at least, not to that extent). The guide is a somewhat friendly way of saying this. Its a better way to break the news than by learning from experience.
Unrelated: Does any LoL player think that slark feels like a LoL champion? Short cooldowns, mobility skill, can't dive towers well since they reveal you, and generally feels like a LoL bruiser.
Nope, his design screams "ruin enemy team's fun" which is totally opposite of LoL design philosophy (at least that's my opinion, but i got used to slark before i started playing LoL so maybe someone who haven't played dota1 before LoL would be a better "test subject")

yeah slark in pubs goes into 2 categories:
the slark player who upon seeing slark released retreated to a monastery in the mountains of tibet to train for years in secrecy to be the ultimate slark master and who has just recently come back from training.
Or
I AM INVISIBLE FISH I WIN slark has been owned by (literally the entire team)
Damn MMR is volatile in first few games. Smurfing is kinda hard lol. Went from "no experience with the genre" to only playing in very high after 6 games.
Officially done playing dota solo queue, love how entire team picks carries and then when i choose tidehunter and buy wards for LITERALLY the whole game (Only getting blink dagger and boots of speed) i'm the one who get's insulted when we lose. I also had about 75% assists of all our kills, but clearly it's my fault

It's also the hardest thing to learn in gaming. just tuning out the other players without becoming arrogant and without closing out legitimate criticism and advice.
One kind is made out of comp level players who just want to play some pub matchmaking games. These guys get matched with the best of the best of the pub ranking system, but they are still way better and stomp the games. It is something that is normal, since it happens in the highest tier of pub play. Getting better at that point is hard, and seeing the way a pro handles different situations is the best way to improve at that point.
The second type are average players who want to deliberately play with lesser skilled players for whatever reason. This is the kind of behavior that needs to be discouraged, since it ruins the game for new players. Do you think those that struggle to last hit and to make basic decisions can learn anything by being outplayed by a smurf? The only thing they can learn is the importance of juking and of fast reactions. They don't understand the importance or proper positioning, the reason why some heroes should farm and why others should not, these are concepts they can't yet properly understand until they have the basic mechanics under control. These kind of smurfs deserve a special place in hell, no offence.

Can confirm this can actually enhance solo queue pleasure. I do it quite consistently on my new account. Why won't they give us some fucking visible ratings ttttt. I am unable to play with friends because they're far too low rated and when we play together they have no chance at having fun, I want to know how badly it skews the average rating when the highest player is a lot higher.

There is another kind of smurf where high MMR people queue with friends who are new to the game. Because its way too hard to teach the game when queueing together with your normal account because everyone is way too good for a beginner. Even though you are way better than the others you spend a lot of the time teaching and watching your friend. Which means you wont play optimally, even though you will still play way better than the other 9. If they are smart as well they pick heroes that don't have much impact on the game because you dont want to increase the MMR too fast.
