so I don't think there's a thread like this and I'd like to see how opportunistic people have been able to get via the GAH

I think the most I've made off of buying an item low and selling higher is a few 100K but to start off this thread, I'll just start off with a 65K profit

people can add tips and ideas if they want, but my buy low, sell high method is purely coincidence and I just do it when I'm trying to determine a price for an item I'm going to put on AH and find something that appears to be underpriced

Due to a 15% AH tax and the highly unstable AH, this is a very risky venture.

The only tips I could give is look for great items with no buyout price. Bid it so it would keep track in your auction tab. Wait until the timer run out and bid till you think you are not in for the profit. You can also sort by highest buyout and start from page 3.

Str / Vit / High Res all

Monk :

Dex / Vit / High Res all

DH:

Dex / Crit Dmg / AS

WD/Wiz:

Int / AS / High Res all

People frequently price Magic Find gear without taking into account the Magic Find. I would search for Magic Find + Dex gear for my DH and usually find an underpriced item at the first search. I would buy it and start using it for a little bit. A bit later, if I searched for the same criteria again, someone else had priced an even better item for even lower! I ended up in a cycle where I would find better and better magic find gear and sell the old gear for profit.
I think I've hit a wall on this strategy, though. Sitting on 1300 Dex and 143% MF from armor gear with less than 400k gold spent total. Unlike armor, I found underpriced MF+Stats ammys and rings to be very rare.

Edited the amount of Dex I got from just armor.

Bought MF ring with primary stats and all resist for 3mil, resold for 20mil. Bought 1k dps weapon for 2mil, resold for 10mil. Some other stuff as well not worth mentioning.

put up my full monks gear on AH for 1k gold a piece when i decided to quit. included a 1188 dps dex/vita/AS axe, 500 LoH +50 res amulet, 20% string of ears, and a decent stormshield.

Bought a Tyrael's Might for 120k and sold it for 1.6 mil. That was my best one so far, made some off a string and ivory tower too but only 500k or so. I dont specifically search AH for bargains to resell, I just come across them when I'm browsing for items I might personally want. A good thing to do is on every search you do quickly skim through and look for auctions with over 1d11hrs remaining as good deals can go very fast. Also don't stare at items too long if you think you found a bargain someone else will snap it up, auction time is a good indicator as an overpriced item will stay up much longer.

Bought a demon hunter cloak with 3 empty gem slots, 16% MF and +8 to max discipline for 60k last night. Put it up for 860k and sold overnight. Small but I feel like I'm only starting to finally understand the interface of this AH to start playing it a little.

INSTAbought Lacuni Prowlers for 100k on the AH with 1 day 11 hours remaining, and sold for 6m

Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 60k sold for 1m
Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 10k sold for 800k
Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 180k sold for 1.4m
Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 200k sold for 1.75m
Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 900k sold for 3.5m

And my most daring:

Socketed 2H Crossbow bought for 5m sold for 12m

Just bought 2 items 6 mill and 4.5 mill respectively worth at least 5 mill more than that. Second one probably maybe 9 mill more. It's luck, but more often than that it's often about patience and opportunity.

edit: actually both are probably worth 9 mill more

This makes me sad because im fucking awful at this, as i was in WoW aswell.

Why is it you got so much from those crossbows just because of socket? Crit dmg gem that good for DHs?
While on that topic, what is actually the best stats in the current meta for each class. Help me so i wont continue to undersell like a retard.

I picked 2H socketed xbows because as a DH I always need them. It is better to have a socketed 2H xbow with 900 dps than an unsocketed with 1000.

It doesn't matter what I would have picked, whether it is 1 handed weapons (probably a better market to be honest as more classes use them and there is more activity), people list things for dirt cheap either by mistake, because they want a quick sale/ have no understanding as to how much their item is worth.

I picked one thing and stuck with it because I would be familiar with the prices and would know when to instantly buy something or not, and often that is the difference between getting a 950 dps weapon for 70k which I sell for 500 and not.

I bougth jeweler plan for 360 gold and sold it for 155k 10 min later.

Ladies and gentleman, that is 43000% profit.

Other than that, Im actually suprised that you can make decent profit from this. How much is an average per hour/day of work or so?
