I haven't been able to play any game for the past few weeks because of anticipation for d3 release.
I'm done with school and have a few weeks off before my internship starts.
I almost renewed my WoW time (lol). and almost bought dead island for $30 KNOWING that I will likely never touch it again after d3 is released. Luckily I didn't because I still have a shred of sanity left.
What are you guys doing to pass the time until d3?
I'm passing the time by reading posts like this. I'm going insane. I can't believe I'm actually pushing for the weekend to end as quick as possible... I'm slowsolving some mathproblems, watching old Big Bang Theory episodes and surfing TL. Oh and today I ate a whole pizza and a big mcdonalds menu.... Roughly 3000 calories in two meals. WHAT IS HAPPENING!?"#?!"#¤!??
Well, SFxTekken got released yesterday for PC so I'm playing that. Pretty good game, aside from the sound issues online. And then monday there's a stress test of Guild Wars 2 I can participate in so that evening is spent well for me. Then I'll go to bed early, wake up early and play Diablo 3 for the rest of my fucking life..maybe :p
I played D2 HC with a necro.. died at L50 in the Kurast Bazaar because I was stupid
I had so many nice things too... Maxed FR and PR, so it was certainly nice.. even the potential for Max IR. I had the poison resist unique BP, the ice resist unique splint mail.. found the undead crown, had some good rares on everything else. Was looking for a 4 socket sword to put the spirit runeword in.
Might do it again, it was pretty easy to play. Diablo and Baal kinda blew, especially diablo.
I gotta finish my contract with a non profit in idaho today too. It's not much more work, probably about 5-6 hours. Then I get 650 dollars :D
just play anything competitive. good thing is whenever you fail you can say to yourself 'fuck it im out of here in 3 days anyways'. works for me in both dota2 and sc2
Man I really am not able to think of anything else lately. Took 3 days of instead of 2 canceled my language classes next weekend... i don't think that i've ever been as obsesed with any girl as SC2 and D3's releases :D (i didn't have beta for SC2 too :/)
I have a bunch of schoolwork to do but i cant freaking focus, ive never wanted a game this bad. SC2 wasn't even close in anticipation. Diablo 1 was my first online game, Diablo 2 at its release became my second. So many memories, and now like twelve years later i can play yet another awesome diablo game. Ghaa cant wait,
I've actually played more games than usual just to distract myself from the anticipation. For example I finally got around to playing Heroes of Might and Magic VI.
However, like Grobo I avoided buying new games, which was kinda hard since I really wanted to try the DayZ mod for Arma 2, but didn't want to pay $30 for Arma 2 when I wont be playing it for quite a while after next Tuesday. Instead I wound up playing STALKER: Call of Pripyat. It's not really the same but was the closest thing I had. I still think I'll buy Arma 2 next time it's on sale on steam, because DayZ looks awesome.
I didn't want to play games that are similar to Diablo 3, like Torchlight and whatnot, because that would just make me think about Diablo 3 more when the reason I was playing a lot of games was to distract myself until Diablo 3 comes out.
I haven't been able to play any game for the past few weeks because of anticipation for d3 release.
Pretty much this. Am playing some Skyrim now to get some achievements I still want, but otherwise I've been watching some streams, reading Diablo lore, browsing TL even more than usual, and just not knowing what to do :p don't feel like starting anything because i KNOW in 2 days there will be D3 and beyond that nothing really matters.. sounds pretty sad I know but I've been looking forward to this moment for so long there will be lots of sleep in the next 2 days, that I know for sure ^^
Yeah, it's driving me insane, too. This is the first time in my life I wish the weekend to end as fast as possible lol... I play d2 again just to kill some fucking time, but I don't think it passes as fast as I want.
I took out my super nintendo and popped in Earthbound. I also have the gameboy attachment for the SNES so I might put in final fantasy 3 or pokemon blue. Nothing says love more than super nintendo on a 72" projection TV.

This. I'm on the 13th level of the Labrynth on Nightmare with a level 27 Sorceror that has every spell in the game that's attainable. Fuckin' only thing I can die to is these damn Lava Maws since they hit like a machine gun and don't let me cast anything if they get too close.

Portal 2 is and incredible game with a cool new level creator which brings it to a whole new level, YES YES YES YES.

Yes, it is very enjoyable
Especially with new editor DLC. There are thousands of maps every day, some of them are really good.
I've been playing WC3, after not having played it for years, and playing a lot of WoW in the intervening time, it's pretty fun going back to see the backstory again. I never knew this, but the Arthas dialogue in Culling of Stratholme was a verbatim copy of the dialog in the WC3 mission - consistency!

Especially if you get a friend to play it with you. Fun times.

Super Nintendo on a 72' must look amazing! lol
lol It is an experience to say the least. Earthbound actually has really good textures. The only problem is the text. It is almost fuzzy when expanded.
Playing starcraft 2 for practice regimes on getting better, then when it comes out sc2 will be like a ghost town to me, people will beg me to play and i will be a different person ravaging with insults and lots of fury as to why i need to beat d3 a million times. But like one of the first posts said i should play some diablo 1 for some childhood memories
What kill's me is that I have my 3 day weekend right now 3 days before game release and I will be working 6 days straight during opening week. I wish D3 came out this week .
So, I have final year exams right now and my brain is basically exploding with want for D3, I can't concentrate. Also feel like I've watched everything on the internet about D3 already. I'm sick of seeing other people kill King Leoric.
I want to freaking rune my spells, they look AMAZING and a different visual for every rune = OMG (see Ciderhelm's rune skill videos on youtube).
I'll hardly be able to play it with my terrible integrated laptop graphics. DOESN'T EVEN MATTER.
Glad there are other people climbing up the walls in excitement
Here's a challenge for you. Spelunky and only spelunky. See if you can master it enough to (a) Beat the game once; Theres 16 levels. (b) Get access to the city of gold. (c) Both of the above in one game. GL
Anyone else concerned we're going to wait all this time and the servers are gonna be fuxxord (ala open beta) and we can't even play? This is especially bad for those who are on US east coast time, because the servers won't open until 3 am...

Yep same here, doing an MSci, Molecular Physics on Monday and a 3rd year Comp Sci Graphics exam on Thursday morning then I'm done. I'm not going to make the mistake of revising for the graphics course at home, thankfully its an easy course (just a fair amount to remember) so I can probably afford to play an hour or so on Monday / Tuesday evening.
Thursday --> Sunday I intend to be stoned out my mind playing D3, collecting all the things. It's going to be absolute, well-earned, bliss.

I'm losing my shit atm. Finishing the first season of Game of Thrones tonight. Playing diablo 2 (on my third barbarian now). Climbing the walls in anticipation.
You guys are crazy ! I just found out that I love to play Terran so I have good time doing all-ins. and I started playing Arma 2: OP that new Zombie mode. look it up on twitch.tv its time killer.
I've been spending my time on Xbox, playing zombies with my friends and doing another run-through of Bioshock 2 on hard mode + no vita chambers. You'd think with the release being just around the corner, I'd be irritable and unable to sleep, but actually I could go a few more weeks if the release date wasn't the 15th.
I have essentially locked myself in my room reading Ecchi Manga for the last three weeks in order to try and not think of D3 every single second. It's a pretty good distraction, but the sand is still running out of the hourglass.
I am counting the days too, didnt happen for any game in the last 10 years :3 ; last time i was so eager to play the game was probably broodwar or warcraft 2 T_T
doing a lot of reading in the meantime and cleaning my apartment so i am free of those duties when the game ships~_~
I've been playing GW1 farming 30/50 for GW2 ^^ Sure as we get closer and closer to the 15th, my excitement rises slowly but surely, but I can bear the wait ;D
I'm torn between playing D3 when it releases or watching the several streams (Day9 and Trump's in particular). It's always good fun and make me look fwd to playing it even more. That's how I did it with Skyrim (watching streams of it, then bought the game)...Although in this case I pre bought the game, updated my processor and motherboard & RAM. Although I read several places that D3 will be GPU intensive (graphics card). So I hope my gtx 460 EVGA OC will be able to handle it *_* Hmm
Ive been thinking about Diablo and Diablo 2, and where i would rank them as my favorite games. When i look at Starcraft and Brood War today i cant really pin point a flaw in those games, there is nothing that pops up as being a flaw or anything. The closest i can get to it is that there were units that saw limited to no use in multiplayer such as Scout and Firebats to some extent.
But when i look at Diablo 2, despite my love for the game, i can just pin point so many annoyances and flaws, such as the trading system where you absolutely needed a third party site to get any real trading done. The fact that the game didnt have respects until very very recently was always a major gripe. How all classes used mana, it didnt make any sense for half of them to even have it. How i hated filling up my inventory with charms and having to only have just enough space for 1 item so i can identify it. The constant popping of potions and having to go back to town often (especially in harder difficulties) to stock up. Hirelings dying alot in harder difficulty and having to res them aswell. How the story was great but was told in a very poor manner, i had to recently dig through DiabloWiki just to understand what the hell was really going on. I disliked how attribute points merely gave you a illusion of choice, you would only get enough STR and DEX to wear the items you wanted, then dump everything into Vitality. How most of the skills on the skill tree were useless and were replaced very fast.
I still love Diablo 2, but unlike Starcraft, i dont feel that it is anywhere close to being perfect, it just lacked things even by then standards to really stand out. I am however glad that Diablo 3 has alot of these additions
D3 isn't GPU intensive at all! Look at it. If a game looks that terrible, it should be clear that it doesn't requires alot of hardware.
btw I watch NBA Playoffs on LeaguePass, cheer for BVB winning the Double (Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal!), play a little bit of SC2 and check Non-Spoiler D3 Forums! Don't think about the D3 Release all day or you gonna get crazy!
I just bought Warlock: Master of the arcane that was released a few days ago. Its a little like Civ5 but with spells and monsters and focus on war instead of diplomacy.

Spelunky is great but hard. I approve this as a proper challange until D3 is released.

My 9600GT can effortlessly handle this game on medium on 1600*900 so you don't really have to worry. To modern standards, Diablo 3 doesn't look that good.

You don't have anything to worry about. I have the same exact card and I ran the beta maxed out on 1920 x 1080 smooth as can be.
Unfortunately I have quite a lot of uni work + final exams in 3 weeks so I won't be able to play that much for the next 1-2 months However, I will reduce the amount of time spent sleeping at night to be able to play as much as possible anyway :D
I'm going insane as well. I was never looking forward to any game this much. I'm 28 and yet I feel like a 12 year old child two days before christmas.
I usually do next to nothing the whole semester and always only do my stuff shortly before it's due. Now however I have done all my stuff two weeks ahead of time (where possible) and even wrote my grandmother. I'm just glad tomorrow there is a whole bunch of good tv shows like Game of Thrones (since I'm always watching tv shows the day after they aired since I don't live in the US) coming out to keep me busy.
Well I try to get as much sleep as possible tonight, as to not go to bed too late the night of release. Then I have a single lecture on Tuesday from 8AM to 9:30 and then I have until the following week's Thursday where I will do nothing but playing Diablo 3 and sleeping occasionally.

Just barely.... You'll be able to play but you might have to play on low settings.
It actually shouldn't be that bad. I played the beta on a machine worse than that, and while I had to have everything on low, I still got decent fps unless there were four people spamming.
You'll probably be able to do a mix of low/medium settings and maintain decent fps with that.

so its quite bit similar and beta worked fine form me ( i also have a large screen so i have to play on 1090p resolution), so it will work fine on medium i guess, but 4 player play could be a bit laggy, always turn off shadows , u didnt really recognice them but you unburden your cpu a lot

No Problem on at least High.
What makes you say that? Or was that sarcasm?
The CPU is on the lower end but with a really good GPU he might be able to play on high. But a 4650 is hardly a gaming card. It was argued that that a 4770 was the entry model for gaming in that series.
It can't even run L4D on high and much like D3 it's a game made to run on as money computers as possible. But since the 3650 is listed as low-performance compatiple card and has roughly the same performance. I think he will be able to play D3 on very low settings.
All set and ready, can't remember the last time i've been this hyped / pumped for a game .... feels like im 13 again. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Constantly clicking my setup file, expecting something to have changed, even though I know nothing will have yet. Looking at TL forums more, and actually watching the SC2 streams I have going as opposed to playing something with the streams simply running on my second monitor.
I kept diablo 3's presence on my radar to a minimum, but man, when the open beta started, I initially said I'll just wait. Then I found myself doing nothing one night, and decided to say, "why not".
Then the ten years of "waiting" just rushed into me all at once, and thus, it's the only thing I've been thinking about for the past couple of weeks.
Right now I'm finishing up some work, and Google Earth + Trees don't get along, so it's certainly consuming time nicely. I'm going around asking friends / siblings for guest passes so I don't have to wait till Tuesday afternoon. I might play all the classes up to 13 before I go to bed.

That's not what I meant. There isn't a population cap as to how many can be online at once, but they are certainly going to slowly increase the number of people who can log in at once to prevent server overloads. Think about the open beta, the same thing will happen.
The servers will be overloaded, so you will get the "error 37" message telling you to try again.
so people will be spam logging in to force their way in.

It means that the servers can't handle 1million log ins within an hour so they stagger it by putting people in a line and making sure the servers don't explode.

Surely they would have a better system for the players then popping up an error message by release.

Someone's never played a blizzard game at release date <3
We all just have to have contingencies in place for the inevitable ERROR 37 spam with which we will all be buffeted.
Someone reminded me of the South Park episode where Cartman waits for the Nintendo Wii. Good thing I rewatched it, I almost went for the freezing plan myself.
As is I'll be getting my copy the morning after cause I don't expect servers to be even remotely playable the first 12hours or so as everyone floods on.

The freezing idea sounds really good, though. Thanks for reminding me, just rewatched the episode.

I have classes all day today.
And worse of all, I also have classes tomorrow.
This will be the longest day ever, freeze myself too .
The 5pm unlock (AEST) means I gotta get home from work and sort out dinner etc. before I can play. Earliest I could hope to log in is around 6:30-7pm. I'm really dreading trying to log in and getting Error 37s all night.
IVE BEEN TRYING TO PURCHASE THE DAMN GAME ONLINE THROUGH FUCKING TAIWAN BNET
Taiwan Bnet uses a credit purchase system, rather than direct money. Its fucking stupid since the credits are 1:1 ratio with the taiwan money. So Diablo 3 costs 1500 credits. I managed to top up 1150, but im missing the 350 credit battle net card. ITS SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE. EVEN ONLINE. FUCKING MAINTAINENCE ON POINTS?!?!!? https://www.mycard520.com.tw/AnnouncementCont.aspx?AnnSn=2219
LESS THAN TEN HOURS TO LAUNCH AND THIS IS THE SHIT I GET
This and many other sites reporting between 2000 and 3000 people waiting in line for over a day under rain, just to get their hands on the Collector's Edition version of the game.
Stories emerging from this include people skipping jobs and school, and even a crazy guy who publicly said that he would stab anyone attempting to bypass the line.
I'm at work getting gittery. Once I get home I guess I install the game, and then sit there with my finger hovered over the play button for 11pm UK time.
GaaaAAaaaAAaaaaa I'm getting it in the mail tommorow but I have exams for the next 3 weeks I'm so fucked I shouldn't have ordered it until next month this is going to be impossible!
What a fucking disappointment. I pre-ordered the game long ago from Finlands 'biggest' site, i got a message on 9.5 that the game has been shipped but apparently everyone is getting their game on 15. When i pre-order a game i expect to start playing as soon as the servers open not when i get the mail on 15. Especially true here when you can't even play the game until they open the servers T_T
Im not decided if im going to buy the game or not, i was not any fan of D1 or D2. The gameplay is a bit too much hack and slash for me. But since its blizzard the enviroment is probably really nice but yeah.....dunno.

Foreshadowing the multitudes of Error 37, don't get your hopes up to play the moment servers go live. :D
