I think she´s doing a good job so far. And I have no problem understanding her even though I´m swedish. I also appreciate the fact that GOMtv selects a female caster in this male-dominated community.

Ideally I would love to see the non-koreans (i.e. who speak English well) that get knocked out take alternating games to guest-cast. In the past with WC3 I quite enjoyed ToD's casting when he would describe the situation and often offer insight into why certain things happen.
Or sometimes, he would say how he would react and why.. It's much better than someone being outright wrong. At least if the guest-caster is wrong, I get insight into the mind of a progamer. Now if Kelly says something stupid/wrong, I gain nothing more than an extra few pages of TL to read.

I really liked that old bw pro from Holland or France that was in a couple of days.. a natural. Rotterdam could also maby be a choice. INcontroL would be perfect, but he is fixin' it up in the US. I think they need to up the salary and perks..GOM are cheap if you ask me. They are banking it on social dumping.

Alright, despite the fact that I had preconceptions, I tried to go into this with an open mind. Let's now go over the ways in which Kelly is below average:
1. Has an annoying/difficult to understand voice. Even if YOU can understand it, it is less understandable than most commentators. So, below average.
2. Makes glaring oversights during gameplay.
3. Makes cringeworthy analysis that sometimes does not even make sense.
4. Appears to not actually know the name for certain Starcraft 2 units.
Let's discuss the ways she is above average:
1.
Ok, so with all the pros and cons in mind, HOW can you possibly defend her for this position? GSL is currently the biggest and most prestigious Starcraft 2 event in the world. Tasteless and Artosis are highly experienced veterans who are loved by the community. Even if you say "Oh, she's not that bad, she can improve" - so the fuck what? Why should we settle for an inferior product in the only league we have to pay to watch? Having Tasteless or Artosis cast solo or with John would be a huge improvement, and save GOM money. You can't defend her as being tolerable, she should need to be exceptional to be considered for this position.

So I was trying to remain optimistic, especially since I'm all for a female co-caster.....
But that was a disaster  I hope that they get someone else next season

The positive thing is, the increased exposure to the good games and players might help her get promoted to diamond league soon.

I agree, but they are cheap on the salary etc. It is not like being a second rate caster in Korea is a dream come true if youre broke on top.

This is not only an Asian or an incomprehensible person we are dealing with. This is another human being. Her "fuckslits" blog is still active, she posted Korea pics to it, and her nickname is "milkies." These are slang for "vagina" and "breasts." When you are actively degrading yourself like this many employers will reject you. She is an obvious e-w***e. fuckslits.tumblr.com

A prospective employer learning that I did cocaine once 10 years ago is a lot different than learning I did cocaine on the weekend.

She did not live up to my expectations. Commentary was still a bit amateurish, she still talks fast which makes it inaudible, and I dont feel the "casting chemistry" between the two yet.
That being said, I'll give her another week or see if anything improves - but so far, it's the same casting style she has been doing since pre-GSL.
Really hope she stops her Haters Gonna Hate attitude and improve.

I think all of you guys are missing a very important point it this whole "why is kelly casting" business and that would be: "Artosis and Tasteless has requested that they would like some changes in their casting schedule." So if you think about it that way she is actually helping them out because it may have been too tiring for them to cast so many games and I am sure if someone of much higher casting skillz and better history would have applied to GOMtv they would have given him the job but you gotta trust them that Kelly was the best choice and you have to respect their decision. I agree that her accent is a little weird but I dont think it is uncomprehensible and she may not know as much about the game than the Casting Archon but i bet she will improve with time. So if any of you not native english speakers feel you could do better live cast in front of the camera you should show it to the world and then maybe you will get a job at GOMtv too, until than live with it and try to enjoy.
