What the hell... first he qualifies for GSL1 and everyone is liek "what?" And now he's being assimilated into ST. And people are like "the fuck?" So I just checked the Korean top 200 and he isn't even on it. Or any of them for that matter. Talk about coming out of NO WHERE.

Congrats to torch from here ! Hope he is gonna do very very well with he's new team and gain alot of inside experience and tips and tricks from the Korean players :D Keep up the good work !

Congratz pretty amazing to see a non-korean on a korean team , i wonder if he'll have like a personal translator or something that would be pretty epic

Watching his attempted nukes was fun during MLG. Congrats and much success in the future!

Congrats to TorcH, but ST seems to think your name is pronounced "토치" "To Chi" when "토츠" "To Ch" would have been right..
|
This recruitment probably happened because considering how "bad" Torches mechanics were, he actually didnt do too bad.
Unfortunately, this is Starcraft 2, so mechanics are not as necessary to compete.
To paraphrase tasteless: "Every build has a half-life so even if you invent some super OP build eventually there is gonna be some standard play and counters to that build."
So even if Torch surprises a good player with an unsuspecting build, eventually he is going have to get his macro up because people will know the counters.
Watching his play he looked like a plat player with good strategy. If he gets his macro up and on par he could be really good but aside from that he wont be going far in future GSL's.

They don't 'think' it's pronounced this way. It's actually a word that was loaned from English* (which is pronounced the way it is because the Korean phonetic system is different).
Anyway 토치 is easier to pronounce than what you propose (it's also nicer to the ear).
* - I'm not really sure on this one but there's a possibility that it came to Korea through the Japanese since in Japanese language only トーチ is possible as an approximation of the English pronunciation (which in turn sounds close to '토치')
