The Korean e-Sports Association has officially announced the Shinhan Bank 10-11 Proleague Season.
Shinhan Bank is once more the sponsor of the Proleague, continuing a four year run of sponsorships that began in 2007. The new season will begin on Saturday, October 16th.
Secretary General Choi Won Jae of KeSPA stated “We’d like to thank Shinhan Bank for their sponsorship, and the fans for their neverending support. All of the pro-gaming teams and everyone at KeSPA will work hard to make the Proleague the best e-Sports league there is.”
Representatives of Shinhan Bank said “E-Sports is becoming a global trend and Korean e-Sports is at its center. By sponsoring Korea’s main e-Sports brand in the Proleague, we hope to work together with KeSPA to contribute to the advancement of e-Sports in Korea as well as become a leader in global e-Sports.”
Before the season officially begins, there will be a series of events held at the Lee Hae Rang Gallery at Dong-guk University. On the 13th there will be a 2010-2011 season trophy showing, winning team predictions, and other events. On the 14th, there will be a media day and special event for fans.
The schedule for the new season will be announced at the media day and fan event, where coaches and players from the teams will be giving interviews.

@official_KeSPA: SHINHAN BANK Pro League will be finally opened on this Sat. (Oct. 16). Detailed things including match-ups will be unveiled on tomorrow. ^^
As you can see in the TL calendar, the Shinhan Bank Proleague 2010-2011 has been confirmed and will start this Saturday.
Details on first match, match schedule etc. will be released tomorrow (Thursday) during KeSPA's Media Day event.
P.S. There is no confirmation yet on whether or not Gretech and Kespa finished the negotiations.
EDIT: It seems like OGN is working on Starleague Season 3 (Perhaps this is referring to ANOTHER Korean Air Sponsor? Only time will tell if that 'Season 3' is referring to same sponsor or not. Either way, it seems like OSL is going to happen).

When I find additional info, I'll post it ASAP (since Milkis is on hiatus, and I basically put myself in a better position for now for college apps (a.k.a. active during nights))

There's no confirmation. It means that we know NOTHING about what happened. KeSPA and Gretech might have found the solution, or KeSPA might have announced this without finishing the negotiations.
I'm going to have a bloody heart-attack with all these ups and downs. I read the rumor thread and wanted to strangle babies, then I this news was announced in the Twitter update and I was happy again :D
when you finally will be tired with sc2 and find you even can beat some great sc2 player by some extreme or some well planed tactics, we can find sc1's merit.

You need to Chill bro....Korean Air OSL S3.Oddly enough Gom.tv was the longest number of times the sponsor of MSL(4 seasons)
I hope there will be FPL! It can definitely see huge difficulites in doing it, what with all the confusion about who's even playing anymore and for which team they're playing, but I really hope there's some way to work it out.
Yeah, hopefully we'll have enough time for FPL sign ups, I mean 3 days is cutting it kinda close. Especially with the merger of CJ and Hite and the eSTRO draft, the points are probably going to be ridiculously messed up. BUT YES, PL IS BACK ON TRACK!
For all those looking forward to FPL, we currently don't even know the rosters or even the team list. We might have to wait for Round 2 to start it. Does anyone have a comprehensive source for this information?
HELL YEAH. Let's get it on~! Looking forward to how teams stack up against each other now... Poor effort though, just when hite Entus was going to be a powerhouse, he retired.

So excited by the news. I hope its for real and it actually happens. I'm not doing anything this weekend so I urge any one else in Korea to join me in Yongsan and welcome in a new season I thought at one point wasn't gonna happen.
OZ hwaiting! (one of my kids asked if i understood what hwaiting meant today? So cute and yes)
YES, I'm so happy that proleague is coming back. I feel like I will appreciate it so much more now because of how turbulent things have been as of late. Nothing tops the BW proleague in esports.
On October 13 2010 17:38 rainei wrote: So excited!! but I am still puzzled as to why these threads arent in the BW section? Hopefully so more people see or it something?
We decided that it would be good to have a consolidated news archive, so we move significant stories to this forum now and put them front page.
There is nothing I love more than PL. What with all of the 'News:BW is dying' threads, I was afraid I wouldn't see this. It's the best gift ever.
Maybe it'll be the last season of PL. Maybe not. Either way, it will be something I can watch after work while chilling out. It will be something I can watch that I care about and will make me emotionally invested.

im really hoping they're going along with this because they are making progress with negotiations though :<

Yeah I'm thinking that they came to an agreement and decided not to make alot of noise about the conclusions they came to.
At least I hope so, I mean imagine how silly it would be to start the pro league and have a law suit inbetween

ya imagine an epic 45 minutes battle between Flash and Bisu in the Grand Final Ace match and all of sudden someone unplugs the main power cable, men in black walked in with court order to permanently stop PL ... then Mike appears on screen laughing his ass off "lol gg no re"
p/s: not like im bashing blizzard or anything so dont take it too seriously ;P

No chance that happened.
Gretech actually delivered a final notice to KeSPA --
I'm not a hard core gamer, or fanboy. But now that SC2 is out and the competitions are heating up, I find BW unwatchable. I want to see Jaedong on SC2!

Good news, looking forward to FPL. But seriously, them talking about making esports "global" doesn't make much sense to me, since BW is pretty much dead outside of Korea.

China. They're thinking about China. OSL finals were held in China and STX went there for some exhibition games after the season ended too.

And that's why it's dead; esports didn't get outside Korea, although I'd imagine they are talking about China, as ^ said

Anyone able to furnish the fabulous Hot_Bid with this information? PL will be amazing either way, but FPL just makes it so much sweeter. Please please please.
Usually, media day was about Q&A between reporters and KeSPA (afaik)
This year, however, KeSPA is having a Q&A with the fans. This is going to turn out interesting if the 'ignorant' ones (aka they want either SC or SC2 dead) show up and starts throwing random questions.
I hope they actually did come up with a peaceful resolution.
If not and it goes to court, KESPA better hope they don't lose because if they do, BW will come crashing down instead of the slow death it would've had.

I want it to go to court. See who wins this once and for all, instead of this nerve-wracking uncertainty.

BW Fighting!
But even they go to court, this can still be nerve-wracking uncertainty, since the case can last for months even years.

Gretech and Kespa should go play some Robot Unicorn Attack together.
Great news about an extended proleague season. More potential for incoming epic games!
One good thing about the loss of teams is that the other teams are suddenly good. Also, I'm kinda sad that 2 epic SL's just turned into Flash>Jaedong. Let's hope PL delivers some epicness to compensate for my loss.
YYYYYYYES!!!! Long live Brood War! I'm so fuckin happy to see some more BW I have been dying.. and seriously I've been trying to get into SC2. I did see a couple exciting matches, but I think the gameplay needs to evolve quite a bit before it becomes anywhere near as great of a spectators esport like BW.
did I mention how excited I am for more BW? :-D :-D :-D

LOL bw unwatchable??!
i dont think anyone on tl agrees with that one... brood war hits home
Small victories, hell atm any victory will do when it comes to BW.
Really pumped for the new PL season, and we can worry about the court proceedings later. For now let's just enjoy the fact that there's a new season inc.
