8600M GT card (which is really crummy for what it was benchmarked at. Cannot get over 40 FPS on COD4 at ANY SETTING, runs TF2 better. Really worried about it running SC2, it's a flawed card. It's also a laptop, so I don't know the specific mobo. 4 gigs of Corsair RAM, DDR2 It's an Asus G1S from 2007.

The 8600 is no amazing card but i don't think you should really worry, again you should be able to at least run the game, and because the screen ratio will stay the same is doesn't matter if you play on 1024x768.

The weakest link in your pc is your GPU, but at 1280 x 1024, it should be fine for sc2.

The GT 220 is pretty much a re branded 9500GT, it has more shader units, but will perform about the same http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=213&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=8 Which will barely play modern games at low resolution. What are you buying that pc for? just gaming? you say gaming rig so I'm assuming that's the case. I'd stay away from that processor, save yourself some money, go with the amd phenom ii x2 550, spend the rest on your graphics card, this should save you ~$70 which will be enough difference to buy a gts 250 instead. phenom ii http://www.guru3d.com/article/athlon-ii-x2-250-and-phenom-ii-x2-550-be-review/16 gts 250 http://www.guru3d.com/article/ecs-geforce-gts-250-1024-mb-review-test/17 Even if you need a quad core for multitasking reasons, I'd go with the phenom ii 940 over the q8400, for about the same price. PCI express 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.0, if he has a PCI express 1.0 x16 slot(I doubt any mobo's that support a q9500 still use AGP) then he can use a PCIe 2.0 card. Also, I wouldn't recomend buying a reconditioned card. When new ones are available at the same price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187070 $8 more, but its free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161244 4850, $89 after rebate, also free shipping. make sure you have a power supply that can handle the cards, 450W for gts 250, 500W for 4850.

Amazingly, I'll probably be able to run it decently well, at least on the lowest settings. The graphics card (or rather, the integrated graphics) are really my only limitation, and they're sufficient to run FPSes through ~2007 at low settings, with the exception of the HL2 engine (some particular 3D technique that Intel integrated graphics don't support). I'm going to assume that SC2 will be less of a graphics drag than an FPS, or at least have the capability to be so. If nothing else, I can run it in wireframes or something.

(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130325) because they are just SLIGHTLY better than 9800gt (like 12 stream processors), and is exactly the same prcie ($109.99) or if you want to go one step up from that then there is the 4870 1gb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131148) for $149.99

For example 4870 in crossfire is only 480 watts (whole computer) at full load. http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-4870-x2-preview/4 Too often I see people recommending 800W+ PSUs which is way overkill. My build actually overdrew the power supply and crashed like twice while i was testing it with an 800w power supply. It seems incredibly computer specific, because i have a friend who gets by with a 380 watt for a q6600 and a gt 260.

This thing right there is bought in a shop. And building my own PC is a no-go as that would probably ruin the computer over here. and the GT220 is the starter that's in there. it will run modern games just fine, not just low res. as the videocard i have right now can play RA3 without lag on lowest settings. comparing the GeForce Go 6150 to the GT220, I will be able to run RA3 on highest settings easily. In a mail i sent to the shop, I asked or they could change the graphic card. now i need to wait till the weekend is over and then on tuesday I'll probably have the answer.
