1. Fisher's shoulder check of Scola was obviously completely unnecessary and an obvious technical-worthy foul. You can argue that he was trying to "send a message" to the Rockets since they're a very physical team who were bullying the Lakers in the second quarter to make their comeback. By "bullying" I don't mean cheapshots or improper play, but the way the Rockets try to slow the game down with their physicality to take the Lakers away from their strong point (finesse game) to their weak point (physical, grind-it-out games). Some of this may also have been to send a message to his own teammates to stop playing like such pansies and fight back a bit when opponents get physical. 2. Artest's ejection was just a stupid move by him. He may have a valid complaint about some cheap moves by Kobe, i.e. slapping his hand/arm away, sneaking in elbows, but his reaction was excessive and cost his team any chance they had of winning a critical game 2. I sympathize with his intent to make it clear that he wasn't going to take an elbow to the throat lying down, but he's got to be a bit smarter than that. As to Kobe's elbow, I actually think it was just typical playoff physical play that happened to result in an elbow in a bad place. If you look at the replay, it looks like he was trying to get his arm through Artest to the right to get the ball and clipped him with the elbow on the way. I can't say anything about the rest of Artest's complaints about Kobe playing cheap or dirty since I didn't see any of it caught on television, but he can't really think that players aren't going to try to cheat a little here and there to win in the playoffs if they think they can get away with it. Everyone knows that you have to elbow a little here, grab some jersey there, shove a little more there, etc. in the playoffs. 3. I wouldn't be surprised if Fisher gets suspended for next game since the hit was so obvious and completely unnecessary, but part of me would be frustrated by the fact that Rondo was able to get away with his closed-fist hit on Miller's face and his swinging Hinrich into the scorers' table without missing any playing time if Fisher does. 4. Very disappointed in Bynum's play thus far. I know he's limited by the brace and is still getting used to it, but what's frustrating me are his mental lapses and stupid mistakes. 5. Complete tangent: I know Van Gundy's supposed to be a brilliant coach, but when Boston went small and had House guarding Pietrus and Ray guarding Turkoglu, you think you'd want to exploit those matchups by taking them to the hole or posting them up. Instead, Pietrus just waits around the perimeter to catch and shoot 3's, and Turkoglu keeps trying to catch the ball above the 3-point line to try to turn the corner on Allen. Teams have to make their opponents pay for going with small lineups, particularly if the smalls are burning your bigger players on the other end like House and Ray were. 6. DHow showed why he's not a true MVP candidate tonight. Battie did more good than he did in the second half. 7. Alston is the biggest idiot of the night for slapping House on the back of the head that way. Nothing more, just he's the biggest idiot on a night where a lot of idiocy occurred.

Just because Artest got up in Kobe's grill for a couple seconds he gets tossed? No contact, just trash talking from both ends all night long. His problem was that he got right in Kobe's face after already pleading to one ref, had to be separated by another ref and kept on jawing even as the ref was backing him off. His refusal to let it go, the fact that it's Crawford, and his reputation, probably was what got him tossed. I also disagree with him getting ejected, but as I was watching everything unfold, I thought to myself, "Ron really needs to let it go at this point or he's going to get tossed..." and sure enough it happened.
