(^^I guess this has been cleared up then) + Show Spoiler + EDIT: HUGEWASTEOF2000thPOST (X_X) (@_0) T_T ("\(O.O)/") My icon is now a GHOSTBLADE!!! In that case, I would say that China is easy to bash. They have a 'communist' government, which is definitely looked down upon and portrayed negatively in the American educational system. They also limit the freedoms of their people. While I was visiting my uncle in Hong Kong this summer, he China bashed ALL THE TIME. He was like "Yeah good thing I'll be dead by the time Hong Kong actually becomes part of China again." Or "Good thing we are in Hong Kong and not China or I would be arresting for saying ________"

Apparently Tl.net is more aware of racism when it occurs than I'd thought. (Though they sort of jumped the gun a bit on that issue =D )

Nah, it's true, I think China did break a few eggs on it's way to making it's omelette so to speak. However, the extreme disasters of those has passed IMO and isn't really the reason for China's success. For example, some REALLY grievous examples of government abuse were it's random revolutions under Mao (who was great as a figurehead but not too much else ...). Ironically, it was under Deng who employed Western capitalism reforms mixed with social ideologies of China that really caused it to prosper.

Alert the crew.. this is going to get fucking messy." Random woman on deck: "ARE WE GOING TO BE OK CAPTAIN?" Captain: "Ok? Someone just mentioned the chinese on tl.net.. we are fucking doomed." Sure china has ethnically cleansed millions of people. They have funded a lot of what has gone in africa right now. And everytime someone leaves africa china is cumming in its pants to get at that vacuum and fill it. China also continues to violate countless humanitarian laws with its own people but what is really important is we do not discuss how china does these things and instead constantly talk about america and all the shit it has done. THAT IS THE POINT PLEASE

Yes. Let us ignore these things and discuss them only when they do not have to do with china. What the fuck is wrong with you? You think china is some kind of scratching post on TL? You think China takes any more shit than any other country on here? Gimme a break.

Why not discuss them in it's own topic then? You don't jump into a topic about "Hey this American pilot saved passengers" and post something like, "LOL AMERICANS - GEORGE BUSH - IRAQ". It's just senseless. Similarly posting something like yours here, does the same merit. So WHAT if china happens to be this weeks country of fucking idiots that passed said policy? The USA will quickly follow it up with another senator trying to ban curse words.. no worries brah. Just quit being a pussy bitch about your nationality and grow a pair. If you got some defense for the shit I generalized in this forum OTHER THAN "hey you guys did it too" I'd love to hear it. Because the thread wasn't about them banning nicknames. Perhaps you should read more than the first line of a topic sentence before forming your conclusions.

Why would you discuss China and something it has done without allowing for discussion on the MAJOR atrocities it has done as well? This is par for the course.. china isn't treated any differently around here.

Every country gets it's fair share of bashing on just about any forum. This was just China's turn. Next week, let's hope it's Sweden. Those swedes deserve a good thrashing from time to time. Been too much textual fellatio going on lately.

-Weak labor laws, exploitable labor (it seems it's changing, unions are coming) -Parents disowning their baby girls -Government destroying old properties to make room to new one. Although thanks to that Shanghai is so modern today, apparently, this harms the poorer classes and creates more social stratification. -The Felon Gong group getting beaten up -Issues with Tibet separation, Taiwan etc. -Quality of products. I.e: Milk containing melamine Pack it all together with the threat of China becoming a world super power, its no wonder the media might wanna draw attention to the bad things that are going on there. And probably cover up the bad things that are going elsewhere in the world: -the tent cities in US -US had to bring a prisoner from Guantanamo Bay as a mediator in Afghanistan. Seems like things are not shinning up for US soldiers over there, and they wanna retreat. I heard that from Iraq news, so the source may be biased. But the same guy who delivered this news also said, 2 years ago, that the US was heading for a recession, and people laughed a him back then. He also said recently they put Obama in power because they might be planning some risky and drastic measures (1 trillion dollars rescue package, deploying more troops in Iraq, etc) and if anything goes wrong they will blame the black inexperienced guy. Oh well... Politics...

Dude...the thread about nicknames quite obviously involves the Chinese government because it's about a law that the Chinese government just passed. The thread about the plane crash, on the other hand, had nothing in particular to do with the US government. Your analogy is way off. You seem to be trying really hard to victimize yourself.

The analogy could've been better but I don't think it's exactly inapt. Government law requiring people to register with their real names upon purchase of online game (nothing related to username) has little to do with posts like the one below. On January 17 2009 02:48 Biff The Understudy wrote: Yeah, it's good! Big Brother is watching you and there is no crime anymore. Are you just an idiot or do you really believe what you are saying? China is a fucking dictature, the governement wants to have as much control on people as they can, including on the internet. If you believe that's good, go live in North Korea. Sometimes I understand why democraties are so fragiles: because people are not smart enough to give any value to their liberty. And I'm not talking about the liberty of buying a new pair of Nike shoes, but of the liberty of not having to give you id everywhere you go and be under control in whatever you do.

Kudos. ![]() BTW Jwd: I said nothing of victimization, I simply said, if people were concerned about Chinese citizens then their efforts are better spent actually /doing/ something about it in their own countries.

Because if you genuinely care about the Chinese people, wouldn't it make more sense to be more involved and active in the plights of Asians in your own country first? Asians (Chinese included) are often one of the most persecuted in most foreign countries (heck even other countries in Asia), a little research would go a long way to show what you can do. Unless of course you're doing it simply for the thrill of bashing another nation. If that's the case, well, you're just a very sad person. =P You're talking such crap. "Asians (Chinese included) are often one of the most persecuted in most foreign countries" If you say "often" and "most" enough times you can say pretty much anything. Ice cream is often one of the most thrown away sugary snacks in the USA, what do they have against Ice cream? I can only speak for the UK where Chinese are treated really well. I fucking love Chinese food, and it's currently the nations favourite food. I'm pretty sure we treat Chinese better than China does. Maybe the Olympics brought Chinese human rights to the forefront of conversation but that's pretty much all. I commend Incontrol on his sarcastic mockery of your whine.

I find jwd's post in the thread perfectly valid because it's his opinion.
