I'm sorry, but where does 600K+ not get you and absolutely incredibly sumptuous lifestyle? It does make sense to consider cost of living in taxes though.

600 k is getting no tax increase under obama, and you think thats unfair?
how hard exactly is life at $600k?

LR the incentive to make 600k+ is already inherent in making 600k, you are making money. Living costs are just part of the equation in a progressive tax system. The rich have many, many ways of saving a ton of money on taxes through deductions, exclusions, and other sort of hidden things in the thousands of pages of the federal tax code. You definitely don't "get fucked" by taxes as a rich person.

Yeah I agree with Hot_Bid. There is always incentive to make more money. Even if you're taxed higher for it, you are still making more money. And I'm sorry but anyone who defines the lifestyle granted from a 600K+ income as "getting fucked" needs a reality check.

Can't afford my goddamn yearly Bentley. How am I supposed to get laid consistently?

You incentive to make 600k is that you will have earned 600 hundred fucking thousand dollars.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@ WHY MAKE MONEY ITS GONNA GET TAXED TO HELP THE POOR, FUCK THOSE LAZY ASS BUMS, HEY O'RELLEY GIMME ANOTHER WHISKEY THIS IS TEARING ME APART

Anyone who's ever taken an economics class care to take a guess at the type or relationship between capital gains tax increases proposed by Obama and GDP? Income tax, who cares. Whether spent by the citizen or the government, the money is still flowing. Perhaps not as efficiently but the difference is small compared to the number of dollars involved. Capital gains increases on the other hand slow the flow of investment directly and unconditionally. Capital, unsurprisingly, is the beating heart of capitalism.

how hard exactly is life at $600k? eh? looks like 8.7% increase if you're making slightly over 600k to me.
it's not hard. it's not that great, either. you still have to work like a maniac; the fact that proportionally more of your gains are taken away is going to hurt.
@HotBid sure some costs are dodgeable but some things don't help; giving money to working-class extended family doesn't. having money paid to you offshore does.

Personally, I'm more worried about the economy collapsing and no one having any money. I'd like to see what the candidates plans are to reduce spending and how they plan on fundamentally changing the current practices which are clearly unsustainable.

Yeah, sustainable development should be part of the goal we talk about, not simply what matters in the near future to select groups

Fucking ridiculous. it is not the lack of incentive you are feeling, but wariness of burdens. suppose you make 40k a year, i'd think your attitude would change. taxes for the rich is, among other things, a reminder that they have things other than their own affairs to worry about.
and it is a federal tax, taxing regions unevenly would offend state rights sentiments, not to mention cause various problems with people moving from one state to another. keep in mind, the cost of living for places will change once you implement this cunning plan,

i agree that biden has had a bad philosophy on the internet. but i doubt this will play a big role since obama is completely uninterested in starting stuff up like this, especially since his campaign grew thru internet popularity.

Obama has actually gone as far to support net neutrality.
Part of the reason "rich" Californians are objectors to the tax issues is because they're also having the pay the state's income tax.

the product of social labour belongs to the group that produces it, anyway. No one has the right to make $600,000.
