The Creation of the “Minor League”
As in the major leagues and the Premier leagues, a minor league for e-sports is projected to be created.
Yesterday, the 11 progaming teams’ (excluding Airforce ACE) representatives met together to officially present and launch the creation of the minor league, beginning with the “Test Matches for the B team.” (False Name.. no official name for it yet) (translator’s note: 2nd team = B team)
The 11 progaming overseers and coaches have met on the 6th to discuss the launch of a Minor league.
The coaching staff that gathered on this day have all agreed on the necessity of a league for the B team, and agreed to quickly implement the idea so that players with great potential who would have otherwise gone unnoticed can be found.
Also, on this day the coaching staff discussed the specific format of the “Test Match”. At this point, the “Test Matches” will follow the format of the Proleague, except 2v2 is taken out and the match will consist of 5 1v1 games, BO5. The ace match format will be kept in the case of a 2:2 score.
There were many arguments about the time to have the “minor league”, but a temporary time of Thursday mornings, which is not affected by the Proleague. The IPark Mall has been chosen to be the location of the “minor league.”
Each team will have a roster of 5-10 players, and players with less than 3 participated games in the “A Team” can also participate in the “Minor League”. A finalized date for the launching date has not yet been chosen, but at the earliest, it may be launched within this year.
The CJ Entus Coach, Kim Dong Woo, has said “There are teams without a B-team but everyone agreed to the necessity of Test Matches.”, and “We haven’t come to a final decision on the format or the rules yet so we will construct the structure of this B-Team League with further meetings”
MBC Game’s Coach Kim Hyuk Sup has also said “Among the 200+ Starcraft Progamers, there are so many players that do not get a chance to even participate in the Proleague or Individual leagues”, and “If the B-Team League goes well, it will become an opportunity for them to show their skill and gain valuable experience at the same time.”
KesPA has also said: “Through the B-Team Test Match, we will be able to project the structure of the future official minor league”, and “We will actively support this idea, because it will also further develop the current Proleague.”, confirming the launch of the B-Team Test Match.

hehe sorry it took a lil longer than i thought, but i realized they were announcing a "test match" and a "minor league" will soon follow it, depending on how well it runs i guess. I was using them interchangably until at the end where i realized they were two separate things and had to run through and make sure all the info was correct.

OMG GOODFRIEND CAN PLAY <3!!

This sounds pretty good actually, we'll be able to know ahead of time which guy is a true 'up-and-coming' player (Like Mind, for instance) and which ones are duds (Actually, I can't think of too many true duds recently, probably because they are so forgettable).
|
Sounds good for the B-team minor players to get some exposure, at first I thought it was going to be for younger players, but I guess this works. It'd be interesting to see if there will be any minor-league exclusive teams that pop up for this, and if any players dominating in the lower categories will be bought out by other teams based on their possible potential. However, another problem pertaining to this is: when will there be too much? I mean, Proleague is overwhelming as it as, and now a second League too? Will anyone watch?

thanks for your message, nice job~ so some guys have chance to show themeselves to us.. mabe A league teams will take some of them hoho~

Getting viewers isn't one of their concerns with this. And even if it is broadcasted, then yes, people will watch it because it's StarCraft and it's Korea.

really happy if this happens, I've alwayys been worried about the lesser players on a team and how much theyy must struggle internatlly not even being able to show the fruits of their labor on screen for many years.
|
Sounds AWESOME. We can see Junwi, Rainbow, all the old schoolers who got demoted to B. But I'm unsure if those 2 are even on B, could be on A just never at proleague. Anyway, should be interesting.

this is a good idea good practice for the lower ranked players and alot of the great amateurs we used to idolize can play against other pros again, great idea here
|
This would be great. A chance to see many of the unknown players who never make a major league/PL appearance, and to better chronicle the rise of upcoming talent.

Wow this sounds awesome. Great chance for exposure and experience for younger stars.

It better be Thursday mornings so I can watch StarCraft Wednesday nights at a reasonable time. And with my first class at 12:30 on Thursday, it'll be awesome! =)
Idra's chance!

whoa.. this is huge! Who says SC is dying, it's only getting stronger. I can't even imagine how much this will boost SC progaming in so many aspects

Milking it before it dies? I don't want it to, but with SC2 on the horizon, lots of thoughts are going that way. Unless of course they play SC1 with the SC2 engine, then they can play for another 10 years if they want!

fuck Goodfriend, let YellOw play for shit sake. I hope this wont leech out the focus of major league, must have 3-4 PRO-league a day.
too bad PJ is gone, SKT would enjoy this league.

It could also be ensuring its survival, as if the B Teams get playing time in a league they will be less likely to leave for Starcraft 2.

Why are you talking about Yellow and Goodfriend ? They have way more than 3 games for the A-team. Read the news again.
Thanks for the information joohyunee.

i think that's just a temporary rule, otherwise the number of players eligiable would constantly decrease (unless you keep bringing in new players) as well as stacking the A-team roster.

Oh, and Idra this is your chance.

great idea i always thot that there are alot of players on the teams that dont get to do jackshit since they're good, but not good enough to be sent out since the team wants to get wins. coaches only send out less known players if they are winning 2:0 or something because they can afford the chance of a loss.
this will let players get a feel for the pressure while at the same time give them a chance to show their skills.
|
This is definitly good for the scene. Since the games and teams are kinda stable now, it's a good step forward to give all the lesser known players or fallen stars the oportunity to gain some expirience and confidence with this league. And like Coach Kim Hyuk Sup said, since there are so many players they should get a chance to play.
And fuck sc2. Just because there is another game on it's way does not mean progaming has to loop around waiting. It's important to refine and build up new systems. That's the reason why it is so professional. So don't give me that western crap where we let games die out just because there is something new hyped up. In fact if you'd be in this progaming buissness you would not give a rats ass about all this little starcraft2 news. Because it's just not important right now.
