Group Stage
All participants will be placed into groups based on seeding. Seeding will be done based on previous tournament results as well as a number of other factors, such as results in NYC BW LAN #1, claimed MMR in BW:RM, ICCup, Fish, personal impressions of players' skill level, so on and so forth.

There will be up to 4 players per group. The groups and consequent tournament will follow the MSL format, which can be referenced here:

(Wiki)MBCGame StarCraft League (MSL)

In summary:

2-0: First seed -> Seed 1 Gosu Tour
2-1: Second seed -> Seed 2 Gosu Tour
1-2: Third Seed -> Seed 1 Chobo Tour
0-2: Fourth Seed -> Seed 2 Chobo Tour

If there are less than 4 players in your group, the format will be Round Robin and any tie-breakers and seeding will be determined on-site following a similar logic to the proposed format of NYC LAN #1's "under-32" format. Reference link.

From that point on, the Gosu and Chobo tours will run separately, following a single-elimination format.

Group stages are Bo1, the tournament proper is Bo3, with the Grand Finals of each tour being Bo5. Thus, each player has two vetoes in the main bracket, and one veto in the Grand Finals.

Maps for the group stage are as follows:

Game 1: Fighting Spirit
Game 2. Sylphid
Game 3" Circuit Breaker

1. ICCup Ladder Rules where applicable.
2. If an administrator asks you to pause a game, you must pause.
3. If you disconnect from a game due to your hours running out, you forfeit the series.
4. If you disconnect/game crashes/whatever due to some other issue that is outside of your control:
      a. If both players agree the game was even: rematch.
      b. If both players agree one person had a significant advantage, win is awarded to that player.
      c. If no agreement can be made, you may request admin review.
5. Keep your computer area clean. Multiple trash bins line the hallway areas. There is sanitizer and paper towels at the front desk. Don't get greasy food on their stuff. We are trying to maintain a good impression and if all goes well, use this venue in the future.
6. Administrator decisions are final.
7. Don't be a dick.

+ Show Spoiler [FAQ] +
1) Do the computers have Brood War?

Yes.

2) How many computers per room, how many rooms, how much each costs, etc.?

~60 total. 40 in the general area. 15 in the high-end area. 4 in each of two private rooms.

Memberships are the recommended option for players. The way this works is, you buy a $20 membership, which gives you $23 of credit for use at the venue (they throw in $3 extra). Being a member means that you pay less per hour for computers. The prices are:

General area: $4/hour, $2/hour with membership (11 hours credit)
Watercooled area: $6/hour, $4/hour with membership (5 hours credit)
Private area: $10/hour, $6/hour with membership (3 hours credit)

The added perk of membership is that if we return to this venue in the future, you will already have it and can just add money to your account as necessary. If you are not planning on entering the tournament, or don’t anticipate staying long, you can forego this option, but it is heavily recommended for tournament participants to get a membership.

We will be negotiating a package deal with the venue once we have a complete head count, in an attempt to make the price distribution more even for everyone regardless of which computers they use in which area.

3) How much space can we imaginably reserve?

As much as we need, with high-end and private areas being reserved first (most likely).

4) Will there be a stream?

Yes.

5) Can we bring a CRT + consoles?

Not enough room/outlets for this.

6) a. Are there any lounge/chilling areas?

Yes, relatively small though. The general and high end areas are relatively open-air, and there is room to stand behind players to obs FPV.

b. Extra chairs available or in close proximity?

Only a few - need to source more chairs.

7) Is there a big screen TV we can stream to?

Yes, in the entrance area, where there is some standing room.

8) Can people bring their own peripherals?

Yes.

10) Can people bring other games on USB sticks?

Yes.

*** Donations ***

Click to receive donation link.

Please fill out the PM informing me that you wish to donate to this event and I will provide you with a link.

Matcherino takes a cut and their bracket services are not useful for an in-person event of this nature. PayPal business also takes a cut. This is the best solution. In "Additional Information" you will find examples of previous events like this that I have run and participated in.

Note: You can also donate in-person if you are attending the event!

All donations are greatly appreciated!!!

*** Additional Information ***

This event is being organized by SuGo, Tim, and myself, with preemptive on-site assistance provided by Overtime.

The NYC BW LAN community has a rich history, which you can easily find by searching for "NYC" in the search bar on TL. We have a FaceBook group. I have organized and helped run tournaments in this area in the past, such as this one. There were many other events in Manhattan and Flushing in the past as well. We are hoping to reignite the passion for LAN BW in the NYC area, so we hope that you will come and play!

Here is our most recent endeavor:
TL Thread
(Wiki)NYC LAN 2019 1

Based on the feedback we have received via post-event questionnaires, the event was successful. We hope to improve upon our extant model and deliver an even better tournament experience this time around, and in the future.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask in the comments.

*** Sign-ups ***

Early sign-ups are now closed. However, you are more than welcome to sign up at any time prior to the tournament in order to give yourself a higher priority in filling any potentially empty computer spots that we have reserved.

Official Announcement #8!
We are again blessed and thankful to...

A secret organization named...

"Revival of Brood War"

Which has generously donated $500!

Out of this sum, 80%, or $400 will be added to the prize pool, bringing us to a total of...

$1816.01 + buy-ins for the prize pool!

Just as before with eSports.fund, the $100 will be going towards expense coverage - and any unspent funds will be distributed to the winners. We now have more funds set aside for expenses than for the previous tournament, but as this is our second time around, we expect to spend less - and thus put more into players' hands!

We are very thankful to Revival of Brood War and all of our generous donors and sponsors!

---

A more minor announcement is that I will unfortunately no longer be attending the event. I will be handing over all of the funds, contact information, and assets that I have collected over the past half-year over the course of the next few weeks as we migrate my responsibilities to Tim and SuGo, both of whom are prepared to continue organizing this event. I want to thank all of you that have made this experience enjoyable, everyone who supported us as an organization and me personally in your messages, and everyone who, regardless of minor drama or disagreements, behaved in a way that exemplifies what our community could be. Thank you all.

This is my last announcement! Stay tuned for a new thread for the tournament, coming soon!

Cheers ♡

Official Announcement #7

We have received a donation from SethN, an NYC LAN #1 participant and longtime BW player, my former teammate on the Rutgers BW team! I would like to extend an enormous thank you to him for donating $500 to the prize pool!

This brings us to a total of $1416.01 + buy-ins!

We have now officially exceeded the base funding from NYC LAN #1! I can't be more thankful and proud of our community for coming together to make this tournament as hype as possible. What we anticipated six months ago to be a small get-together has blown all of our wildest expectations time and again. We have now closed pre-sign up and have informed the venue about how many computers we will be reserving. You are still more than welcome to sign up, but you may not be guaranteed a computer space on the tournament. However, the order in which you sign up will give you a higher priority for available computer space depending on who signs up first.

Long live Brood War!

Official Announcement #6

We have received a donation from yellowFoxbat, an NYC LAN #1 participant and LMaster Beginner StarCraft Discord veteran! I would like to extend an enormous thank you to him for donating $150 to the prize pool! Mr. Foxbat had a few shout-outs that he would like to share

"Shout out to LMaster Beginner's StarCraft Club (click for invite link). We have advice on becoming better at BW, fun degenerate game modes, practice partners, grudge matches, and dumb shitposts. Honorable mentions to abstract daddy, Tim, gurthang, overtime, armada, faust, and sugo, all from LMBSCD who I met in person at the last NYC LAN."

This brings us to a total of $916.01!

We're getting there ;)

We are now (again) officially sponsored by eSport.fund!

Thanks in large part to the hard work, dedication, and love for Brood War of Rus_Brain, we have come to an easy and pleasant agreement of terms with eSport.fund and have secured this sponsorship for our prize pool. We are proud to add their logo to our banner. $300 of their contribution will be going towards the prize pool, while the remainder ($82.10 after surcharges) will be going to expenses. However! If, by the day of the tournament, there is a remainder from the expenses allotment, it will be going directly into the tournament's prize pool

With eSport.fund's $382.10, we have a grand total of...

$766.01 + buy-ins in the prize pool!

Let's hear it for Rus_Brain and eSport.fund!

---

Also: I have extended the deadline for signing up for the tournament. After talking with the manager, we have determined that we don't need to determine a final head count quite so early - as such, we will be extending the sign-up deadline for guaranteed computer spots to September 19th. I'm looking forward to seeing more new faces sign up, and of course the return of last tour's players!

PS: More good news to come ;)

I would like to thank Fazers for donating $300 to the prize pool!

Fazers is a long-time NYC LAN attendee and my IRL homeboy. He is also dope at Melee:

This brings us to a total of

$466.01!

More great news to come

Also, get those sign-ups in, people! I am going to be contacting the organizer with an estimated headcount next week.

Old B ICCup, right?

Old ladder ranks count but obviously at a depreciated rate, this is a market economy

You can find parking within a few blocks free of charge on weekends as far as I know, but it will be a few blocks' walk back to the venue from there. I was setting up with Overtime and we walked about 5-10 minutes to his car which I believe did not require any sort of parking permit or payment on a Saturday.

TL;DR: You can find free parking if you're willing to walk a little bit.

I was B- in like late 2009 lol. Apparently I have played about 50 games of remastered and ended these seasons at the following mmr:
Frontier: 1768 MMR (28 games)
2018 S1: 1613 MMR (7 games)

So... if that helps?
