It's also insane IMO that some of these guys were (and are) measuring their salary in the tens of millions of USD per year while cutting salaries across the lower end of the company and firing hundreds of people to reduce operating expenses i found a pretty good video that covers a lot this stuff. i don't agree with some of the opinions in the video... but there are lots of great facts in it. https://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/540389-the-games-industry-and-atvi#17

Still, there's some good research and a lot of things said that aren't being properly covered by other media. On January 05 2019 18:38 TheEmulator wrote: Just did 8 M+ dungeons back to back. Still, there's some good research and a lot of things said that aren't being properly covered by other media. i just discovered that Eric Hirschberg , the CEO of Activision, left in March of 2018. Hirschberg had been with ATVI for 8 years. the top level executive exits are piling up. Eric Hirschberg , Mike Morhaime, Spencer Nuemann. the Blizzard CFO is not absolute top level but still quite high. All 4 of these people also have an advanced level of knowledge of the financial state of the company. 2 were with the company 8 years and 1 for 27 years. That is a lot of in-house experience that vanished. If another top level executive with 10+ years experience quits expect investors and analysts like Michael Pachter to make an issue out of it. any how , i'm going off topic. for a continued convo i'm going back to the link.

Real money AH in Diablo 3 D3 expansion two cancelled The Real ID for forums push and pullback Warlords of Draenor Titan scrapped Blizzard games were the top of the line in their respective genres, but over the past years Blizzard is chasing trends rather then setting them like the modern MMO. They missed the moba goldrush and hots was too late and never got a big enough market share. Overwatch refined the tf2 formula and its a great game, but we live in a battle royal world. 2019 is going to be a dire year for Blizzard with wc3 remastered, classic wow and diablo immortal. The rest of their games are in content update mode with no major changes in sight. Even if they announce new games or ip this year at blizzcon it would mean a 2020 release at the earliest.

And no, I don't plan to play it. I've played Vanilla and know its not the rose colored heaven most expect to find. Your only young and innocent once, once lost that feeling can never be regained.

Ill probably start classic, since im subscribed anyway, but like Gorsameth, ive played it back then and while it was the greatest and most addicting fun ive had in gaming ever, i recognize it was because of my age and because everything was new and i wasnt as jaded as i am now. It was actually fun waiting on green dragons, doing the trip to onyxia with the guild, running back for 20 minutes in aq after a wipe, but i wont be this time around.

The actual game back then was also objectively just way worse than TBC, WOTLK and prenerf cata (which in many ways did similar things, but better) so i've never been all that excited for that version of the game. Might give it a spin with some friends! It'd be very cool if we got basically the 2004 game on 2019 hardware which could lead to having extremely good client and server performance compared to the live game but i don't trust blizzard to deliver on the server end, they seem to be cutting their costs as hard as they can to the point where it's been an enormous problem. It'll be very interesting to see if they cave and adopt the OSRS model or not, and if not then what they do with the game as it's doubtful they'll patch it through pre-TBC over a year or so and then tell the dev teams to go home. I imagine so much stuff from the current version of the game - titanforging, the azerite armor system, pruning, the switch to phasing etc would never by voted in by a 3:1 supermajority of the community. The WOD to Legion swap for Marksmanship would have struggled to get 25%, let alone 75% ![]() At the same time OSRS managed to do something that i'm not aware of a game ever doing before - reverting to a 6 year old version of the game and forking with a new development team to grow for 6+ years and end up with nearly 4x the active subscribers of the original*. I'd be 110% on board for an actively developed fork of WoW from an earlier era with a focus on the community leading development goals and a different approach to the style of game that it would become. That idea excites me far more than 8.2 and 9.0 do! * ![]()
