I'd rather deal with that than having a smaller player pool to choose form while pugging if limiting x realms was a solution or something.
There's no need to prevent people from grouping and a pretty large list of improvements that can be made without doing that.
The way that i'd expect this to work since we have the group leader and 4/5 of the group on server A would be for us four to walk to the summoning stone, summon the 5'th guy and he would appear on the server of the group leader & majority. It's not the only way to make it work but it's the most obvious one IMO.
Three seperate issues in the same phase:
1; Group leader and group majority (4 out of 5) do not stay on their own realm, for some unknown reasons they choose to disregard the group leader status and phase 4 people to 1 instead of phasing the 1 to 4
2; PVE players being put on PVP server w/ forced PVP (some of which are highly popular and have 99% of their population as one faction)
3; Automatic phasing without consent - Do you want to be phased at all? Do you want player B to go to player A or the other way around? Do you want to swap to a PVP server with PVP forced on?
The results that you get are incredibly random right now. I've been brushing off lots of little problems but they're combining often and awkwardly enough to make this much more annoying than it should be

Catching up with Artifact Knowledge is a bitch. How fast is it? I heard it starts with 2 day research time, then go over to 3, then 4. A guy even told me to never queue up orders cause of a bug ? That sounded silly

It's definitely too slow, especially if you start just now. I think it's still at 3days for even the first few, then 4 days.

It is 3 days even for the first, damn that sucks. I wanted to have a pvp char, cause hunters are horrible there. Guess I should just leave my alt there waiting for the AK to be atleast 6/7 before I start doing shit with him.

It's not really a bitch at all
My friend forgot to queue some, dropped subscription for multiple weeks completely and he got so many days cut off his research with the catchup mechanic that he's researching AK11 already and 20 hours behind me - someone who dinged the day before him and kept them up literally 24/7. He may have even gained a few hours by being afk and unsubscribed which is kinda funny

I don't believe that. I'm only reaching AK 10 tonight and although I took maybe a week to get to 110 I've not missed a single research since. AK11 after 2 weeks off doesn't sound right to me.

I dinged at the very end of launch day (servers down for 6 hours) and i'm 63 hours into researching ak11. There's an achievement at ak10 as well

Well my alt that started on that...over a week ago? Is still only on 3. Not sure how your friend who managed to miss several weeks in the middle could be going for 11 already.

3-day research times, that's 1.667x faster than 5-day. It's a catchup rate of gaining 4.67 "free" days per week; it's 5 weeks of research in 3 weeks

It didn't put him ahead but it's as if he started the research within ~44 hours of legion launch because he got 3-4 day researches right up to ak10 including multiples queued up. Meanwhile those of us from day 1 research have been 5-days all the way

So basically you're saying that he leapfrogged people who started a week later when he had multiple weeks unsubbed. That just doesn't sound right.

Basically, unless it's bugged, the AK catch up system is designed to help people faster towards the same point others are at, but never overtake.

Your friend most likely didn't miss weeks, he qued them up so he recieved 2 of them while he was unsubbed, more likely he missed a week and not multiple.
Either that or he is bugged, lying or cheating because those numbers don't seem to add up properly.

Yeah what Kip said, I'm not believing this for one moment. I've not missed a day since I hit 110 maybe 5 days after launch, and I'm still at AK 9. If it's true then it's a bug.

I've heard that you can queue up researches sometimes in a way that cuts some days off because the research time is decided at the time of the queue even though the second one doesn't start for X days. If you have a 3 day work order then you can queue two up at 3 days each - if you have four days then you can queue 2 up at 4 days each
so 3+3 days instead of 3 days then 4 days for example; 4 + 4 days instead of needing the 5'th day for the second research

That isnt true though. My monk was getting them at 3 days each and just finished 1 of 2 queued. When the 2nd one started it was a 4 day research instead of 3 days again.
I dont think he missed out on as much as he says because there is no way he should be almost past you in research if he missed 2 full weeks.
My monk I started ~4 weeks after my rogue (Who hit AK 10 yesterday) on research. Im at AK 6 and just started AK 7. If I started 2 weeks earlier at it I would likely be at AK 8 or 9 instead.
