how 'thanks obama' is helping your case that the us is a great example for protecting dissenting journos is beyond me.
cherry picked links: def anectodal. probably press freedom index is a better indicator no? somehow using occupy as example for press freedom shows the level of dissonance you're applauding.
The evil that spread from Russia in 1917 to the West will be destroyed by Russia's renewed faith that will heal the world. Holy Mother Russia's benevolence shines out across the earth and now more than ever people from other lands are listening to her. Alaska has had more than 25,000 people who have signed a petition to secede from the US. The petition can be found here. Russians in the Gaza Strip have planned to hold a referendum to join Russia. The high taxed French also prefer Putin like Depardieu who is now a Russian citizen meeting with Putin here. He also recently started a limited-edition line of luxury watches called "Proud to be Russian". The Trans-Dniester region of Moldova sent a letter to a speaker in Russia's Duma to join Russia. I am sure in the future other countries from the former Soviet Union will want to wave the same flag. The question is when.
While there’s nothing inherently wrong with Ukraine joining with the EU or staying with Russia (or a combination of the two) – depending on the will of the people and their elected representatives – this latest U.S./EU plan was motivated, at least in part, by hostility toward Russia.
That attitude was expressed in a Sept. 26, 2013, op-ed in the Washington Post by Carl Gershman, the neoconservative president of the National Endowment for Democracy, which doles out more than $100 million in U.S. funds a year to help organize “activists,” support “journalists” and finance programs that can be used to destabilize targeted governments.
Gershman, whose job amounts to being a neocon paymaster, expressed antagonism toward Russia in the op-ed and identified Ukraine as “the biggest prize,” the capture of which could ultimately lead to the ouster of Putin, who “may find himself on the losing end not just in the near abroad but within Russia itself.”
oh come on, Cheerio will assure you it is all ok - no nazi's at all, Kiev is a peaceful place etc. and those guys have russian accents, so they are not ukrainian nazis but russian KGB agents
and some Ukrainians think they won at Maidan (i bet Sub40APM is) when they actually lost their country and possibly started civil war (of course smarter ukrainians understand that Maidan was a big mistake)
moreover Yulia Timoshenko will probably win president elections and she is even bigger thief than Yanukovich was - lol

For the sake of Ukraine, she better not, she is a crook and is even more ruthless than Yanukovych. She was stealing even more money across two decades, ripping off her compatriots. She is in the politics only for personal gain. The only difference with Yanukovych is that she did not have a chance to fire guns on civilians.
The whole pressure from EU for her release from jail is a terrible embarrassment if you ask me. The western politicians reactions after she was released are another embarrassment. She should have stayed incarcerated and you could add in Yanukovych as her cell mate. Both of them are worth each other.
What Ukraine needs is someone completely unrelated to the current political scene, but the poll above lists mostly crooks, nationalists and communists. Shit for a choice if you ask me.
Wohoo, Zeo, Nunez and Paleman all united in a perfect cacophony of alternative reality. You know, if you can choose between any reality except the one that real, why can't you choose one that's nicer? Just take one where Abraham Lincoln wasn't shot to death, he invented eternal life and governs the united federation of the World in peace and beardedness.

Wat? Even while the most active protests, the very epicenter was in central square of Kiev, and it was quite behind the borders, yes, it was a bit scary but quite.
About Julia Timoshenko, I have no idea who gonna vote for her, and I didn't met a single person who will. Civil war chance is much lesser now than it used to be month ago. Crimean situation forced reunion more than something else. There is stll few thousands of persons in every eastern city who want referendum and federalization, that striking with russian flags in every weekend, but they are very few in comparison to the rest.
Try to filter incoming news, use not only russian sources.
i don't use "russian sources" at all, i'm just speaking to my ukrainians buddies - every day brings several deaths in cities they live in it's a matter of time when critical point will be reached

Breaking news, people are dying sometimes due to several reasons! Carcrashes, illnesess and other, not necessary due to revolutions. Critical point already passed, personally about me, I've changed my point of view after Crimean annexation, after few interviews by mr. Putin when he told than non-russian forces but self-protection Crimean activists acting there, and few days later he told that if ukrainian army will start to fire, russian soldiers will hide behind womens and childrens. I just don't get, how can u say this on public if u're a leader of nuclear country.
And by the way, everybody might be involved in information war.
If u want, I can make a pictures from our central park in this weekend, u'll see that people are tired of all this and they simply relaxing and enjoying the spring. So many teenagers, above and beyond this ages people aswell, young generation with love in their eyes, not with thoughts about civil war.
Next picture is for fun and was made like month ago, this person reminds me about one hollywood actor :D + Show Spoiler +

Everything that is happening right now in Ukraine is completely the fault of Euromaidan. Seriously, they used nazi's and extremists to seize power and now your unelected government is murdering anyone that could endanger their precious 'revolution'. I don't know what kind of propaganda you've been exposed to but the whole revolution cycle is starting up again between the various factions that were barely held together during Euromaidan.
If the people at Euromaidan had not listened to the fascists and had kept their end of the deal/compromise made with Yanukovych, Crimea would still be a part of Ukraine and your country would be on the road to recovery. Maybe it will take a few more political murders to change your mind, but its too late now.
And now for a truly jaw dropping speech. The way to keep territorial integrity is to have referendums in all regions on the annexation by Russia?!
I guess we wondered what Yanukovich was doing while Crimea was being annexed, now it's clear that he never intends to go back. Also note that he quit his own party.
zeo's conjecture seems reaonsable, is also reflected in the article posted earlier.
On Feb. 21, Yanukovych tried to defuse the violence by signing an agreement with three European countries in which he accepted reduced powers, moved up elections so he could be voted out of office, and pulled back the police.
That last step, however, opened the way for the neo-Nazi militias to seize government buildings and force Yanukovych to flee for his life.
not agreeing with you makes you a 'troll' from an 'alternate reality' and anything that doesn't conform to your narrative is 'negative'. lol.

Assuming, of course, that the referenda are held with a fair process.
