Hm here we go again with me having trouble understanding this presumably conservative humor, particularly when it is used to judge an individual in an attempt to make a left-leaning group look bad. Note that you are connecting the fact that he is a stereotype lover with the fact that you see him as being neither thoughtful nor behaving as though he is highly educated, just as you stereotype him and laugh about it. The self-identification of the stereotyping seems to me to be, not so much a defense, but an action similar to when Donald Trump Jr surprised everyone by releasing self-incriminating documents, making the whole world go 'HUH?'

It's not a causal relationship, so no I wouldn't say that, but it's definitely the case that there is a strong negative correlation between education and poverty. In fact, socioeconomic status is likely to be the biggest predictor of academic success in students, moreso than race, sex, etc. There is also a strong negative correlation between religiosity and education, hence my reference to the Bible. Unsurprisingly, most of those states ranked 40-50 in education are also in deep South, also called the Bible Belt.

I said "it's funny" but that was sarcastic, my post wasn't an attempt at humor. Alabama is a deeply red state that has elected officials that think the Bible is required to be sworn into office. It's education is also shit and it's rural hospitals are closing. Conservatives are literally running these states into the ground, soaking up federal dollars and then blamed democrats.

DPB is a teacer in the public school system. So not only is he educated, his politically knowledge is based on his profession. And to no ones surprise, conservative political views hold little appeal who gets to see the impacts of those policies first hand.

Or why is it fair to blame Chicago on Democrats but not blame the many problems in the south on Republicans?

The agreement I was presuming was that most of TL is more liberal than conservative and, as such, would not want Roy Moore to be elected (and, I'd imagine, that even some conservative TLers wouldn't be able to overlook Moore's horrible reputation and wouldn't want him elected anyway, as he would only make the reputation of the Republican party worse).
