Wonder how many more GOP senators are going to come out and be vocally critical of the deal It very clearly is a bad deal for the GOP. However, I'm not sure that it's a bad deal for Trump. It gives Trump another bite at the apple at getting the GOP to move on his agenda. Stated another way, it looks to me like Trump threw the GOP under the bus and is starting to signal that he'll work with Democrats if Republicans won't be reliable partners. Pretty much how I expected this to work out. The Democrats also get to put the GOP through another debt ceiling fight, which only helps them. With any luck there won't be a hurricane to help them push it through either.

And god knows what nightmare Trump will have created for them since then.
It also give democrats leverage if the GOP skimps on long term disaster relief.

it feels like he's really hurting the GOP politicians. can't say i'm upset. but it's not as much as I'd like, because what he's done is postpone it past election day.

Trump wants to win, to win he has to pass legislation, which the Republicans are completely incapable of doing.
Trump would be perfectly fine with working with the Democrats so long as he comes out looking like a winner.

It would be pretty funny if Trump ended up being a center-left president because the tea party platform is plain and simply not viable. The entire GOP platform is not designed for actual governing. It is more of an ideology than a system of governance.

There is no way they want that thing hanging around during the mid-terms for the Democrats to run on.

I hope this just becomes the polite way of saying "Trump's a shit"

I'm still waiting for the republican imbeciles on Capitol Hill to figure out that they are the most hated and disposable figures in DC. After watching them operate over the past 9 months, I can't help but think that they have badly miscalculated politically.

GOP spent so long being the opposition party that they don't even know what to do.

GOP Congressfolk may be quite scummy and undesirable, and they're definitely worse than their Democratic counterparts, but the other side is doing their best to bridge that gap.

GOP spent so long being the opposition party that they don't even know what to do. For a large chunk of them, opposing Obama is all they have known. They were not elected to do anything beyond stop him from doing anything. They have never had to pass anything of substance, only say they intent to undo everything Obama did. And shockingly, that isn’t sufficient to govern. They are going to be beyond fucked if the Democrats put forth someone they can’t turn into a cartoon villain.

Guys, you're missing the true brilliance of this strategy. GOP knows how to be opposition, so if they let the minority do all the stuff they can still run as opposition.

Surely you know better than to still fall for this kind of bait.
