Edit: Just saw on italian news that Trump said he is not sure if he will accept the result in case of Hilary's victory. I mean, how dumb can you be? People are voting right now just STFU and wait. Statements like this are the things that motivate people to go out and vote against him...

Also, people really believe that a single frame of Trump looking at his wife means he does not trust her? I really don't know who is lower - Trump or stuff like this against him. I'm sure some of the people doing it are Trump supporters. An awful lot of women support Trump. Take your victim lens off for a second. All that is happening here is that women who voted are going to the grave of a woman who fought for their right to vote and saying "thank you, I voted because of you". Trump isn't involved in this. It's not a protest against Trump. It's not in support of Hillary. It's just "thanks for fighting for my right to vote, here is my token I got for voting, this one's for you, you can have it".

It is just like placing flowers that will need to be cleaned up when they die. If direct family members object to doing it, I will reconsider my opinion. Until then, it is a nice gesture to her legacy.

I do agree a posterboard next to the grave would've been a little more respectful. But the sentiment is nice. And those stickers are cheap enough that they'll just fall right off without much residue. Overall, I like it.

Can someone educate me as to why American territories are distinct from states and why they can't vote? The general way it worked historically is, newly acquired land would slowly get filled with settlers, and when an area got enough population to be a state, they'd be given state status (more or less). territories never had the vote, the vote was entirely for states. territories were often so sparsely settled that administration was rather thin. The constitution was set up entirely by states, the notion of significantly populated non-state land did not exist at the time. The general assumption was that things would be part of an existing state, or a newly formed state. Puerto Rico has declined to become a state in the past. Guam and American Samoa don't have enough population to really be a state (iirc they total < 300k people together, the smallest states at present have ~600k, which is just enough to justify having a single representative). I'm not sure waht the people of guam and american samoa want administratively. They're far enough from another state, that they probably don't want to become part of Hawaii for instance, or some other state.

Guam and PR and the other territories yeah. It's a very big problem I have personally and no one wants to hear it in particular. It's rich that we, a country bristling with indignation at taxation without representation, hold millions as citizens without the right to vote.

If it is 7, I'll edit my above post. its 7 at earliest, but may do go to 8 or later. looking at the times for each state it looks like the states closing at 8 would likely give a better indication of how the dice will fall (though if IN or GA look bluer than expected that might be a sign). here's a nice summary:

Women, whose support is split between both candidates, were honouring a woman who fought for their right to vote. You decided to say that we only think it's okay because they're not Trump supporters, implying that if they were Trump supporters (which some of them are!) then we'd all be irrationally attacking them as vandals in a surge of hypocrisy. I'm sorry but your post really was just about how if Trump supporters did a thing then they'd be attacked for it because Trump supporters are victims, and it was silly because the people in question who were not being attacked included Trump supporters. I know it's tempting to see Trump as the victim of some media conspiracy but in this news story he wasn't even involved until you brought him up to create a hypothetical in which we'd all make him a victim. That's victim lens right there. You took a story that didn't involve Trump and tried to turn it into how everyone treats him and his supporters unfairly.

If depends on which states report a clear victory. If Clinton wins Florida decisively, it could be an early night. The later it goes, the more it might be in Trumps favor.
