Without any intoxication, I am a science machine thing with regards to eating. After 1 beer I'm an animal.

I have an insane metabolism, so I eat whenever and however much I want and never gain weight. I basically won the genetic lottery in that regard.
Like with a lot of other things, overeating and its consequences are caused by a combination of things. Personal responsibility is only part of the equation, and there's a lot of environmental factors that impact success (good health)/ failure (blobness).

We both take medication for a couple of things and those mess with our appetites as well. Just trying to find a healthy snack on the go if your day didn’t go as planned is a fucking chore. I had to buy 3 dollar hard boiled eggs yesterday because everything else the place was selling was trash.

Well I'm skinny and it takes me pretty much no effort. By extension, fat people are idiotic scum because their social situation, biology, and income shouldn't affect their eating habits.

I have absolutely no idea what you think you were proving by posting this but it in no way responds to "obesity is primarily caused by eating too much" which is damn near to being a tautology, like "exhaustion is caused by exerting too much" or even "poverty is caused by not having money too much". But if you want to continue this absurd exchange I think PM would be more appropriate.
I am not disputing the "eat too much, become obese", which is a useless platitude.
I am claiming that "personal responsibility" is only a small part of the solution. Most obese people are completely incapable of stopping without help. Obesity works in many the same ways as addiction. They are literally addicted to food. However, most substances you can "quit" if you're addicted: never smoke, drink, gamble or do heroin again. However hard it is to stop, and however tempted you are to start again. But you can never stop eating completely, you have to learn how to eat controlledly, however obese people have unlearnt (or if obese since childhood outright never learnt) all those signals that you and I unconsciously follow to simply stop eating when we're full.
Most obese people need professional help to stop eating.
E: as an adult with a normal BMI it takes me 0 effort to not get fat. However, I have the advantage of a life of healthy eating, and parents who taught me how to eat.

I feel all my opinions on staying healthy being easy ended when I turned 30 and could no longer eat shit for breakfast every day and feel ok about it.

Eating for pleasure probably ranks above sex for pleasure for me. If I had to choose between a life of eating only shitty bland food bars that met my nutritional needs and nothing more or a life where I had sex only as many times as needed to reproduce I'd take the shitty sex and keep eating for pleasure. It's basically my favourite luxury. The fact that we get fat after eating too much is bullshit on the same level as if masturbation actually did make you blind. But if masturbation did make people blind and there was a blindness epidemic I'd probably be pretty judgey about the ability of all those blind people to make good long term decisions for themselves.

Eating is a very complicated problem to fix; and the best fixes for each individual vary considerably, so it needs a lot more individualized approaches. Definitely something worth working on, and researching into though.

As someone who has lost over 100 pounds in the past and been a personal trainer, y'all robot folk make me laugh

Lost 80 once and I agree. Completely ignoring the psychological and addictive aspects of the problem.

So I'm seeing a lot of commentary from liberal folks who are taking Fallon to task for not being hard on Trump. Am I missing something, or is taking out Trump not Fallon's job?

Looking things up to get a quick feel on the issue, fallon's a comedian, isn't he? So the point is to be funny. what matters isn't taking down people, what matters is whether it was funny or not.

I am seeing some stuff about the strange dissonance between Fallon’s treatment of Trump and the stuff coming out of Trumps rallies from the sources I would expect. But nothing from any major news network or anyone of note.

Nope, it would be because she is a woman!, or maybe because America is a bigoted country anyways!

Can he not lie for even a second?
Seriously. why the fuck is he stupid enough to try to claim that Clinton started the birther movement...
|
Maybe it is just to help me sleep at night, but I still have a lingering suspicion that the DNC or the Clinton's or Saudi Arabia or someone has some seriously explosive shit on Trump that they don't want to have to use but probably will. I still feel like something massive is going to come up soon before or soon after the first debate. If Clinton comes out of a dominating performance in the first debate, I think they hold onto whatever bombs they have and wait until a bad performance.
