Friends at the scene identified the man as Philando Castile, 32. Castile’s cousin said he was dead, WCCO-TV reported. That could not be confirmed.
The girlfriend started the live-stream video with the man in the driver’s seat slumped next to her, his white T-shirt soaked with blood on the left side. In the video, taken with her phone, she says they were pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street for a broken taillight.
The video was posted on a Facebook page belonging to Lavish Reynolds, but it’s not clear if it is the girlfriend’s page or whether she sent the video to someone else to post.
The girlfriend says the officer “asked him for license and registration. He told him that it was in his wallet, but he had a pistol on him because he’s licensed to carry. The officer said don’t move. As he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times.” Source
If the cop shooting Lequan while he lay motionless on the ground, and the video of Alton didn't move you because he was a criminal, and the last 30 seconds of that video don't break your heart and make you want to demand justice, I'd double check for a soul.

I cant think of anyone that has a good FP record if you really want to start arguing bad FP. US FP in general is shit

Well, the recent comparisons to Hillary from the other side would be Bush.
And uhm... Compared to that Hillary is a Rockstar when it comes to FP.

Just waiting for the excuses to roll in from those clamoring to excuse cops no matter what.
I live in the Twin Cities and this is NOT going over well. I expect a lot more protests in the coming days.
|
And a year from now the cop will be acquitted for having a "reasonable fear for his life, justifying the use of lethal force," by firing into a car with a child in it at a man attempting to do exactly what the office told him. Then everyone will be super shocked and appalled when protests turn to riots.
This man put it best.
This entire country is a bummer right now.

I was expecting them out in full force already, just read what happened. So sad.

Thanks for this link, data always trumps no data. I know Cali and Texas are big states but damn, 50 and 72 in just six months... I mean I don't even know why I'm surprised given the 560 nation wide, it's actually pretty standard numbers given the total, but still they struck me.

We could spark the discussion again on how people that panic that easily in edgy situations (even if the "perp" complies) were able to get a badge in the first place. Again. Or ask what would've happened if the person in the car were NOT a black dude. Again.
.. but what's the point. Nothing will change in this regard, regardless of politicians are promising.

Wow these last two shootings have been completely disgraceful. the most recent shooting the guy had a legally owned weapon?? Also the girlfriends behavior who video taped the whole thing was impressive as well. Either she is a sociopath who doesn't really feel things or is a Buddhist monk and has tamed her emotions, "my boyfriend is dead, my boyfriend is dead" said almost emotionlessly.
Edit: Ok after rewatching the video for the most recent shooting: the officer told him to not reach into his pockets, and the victim reached to what we believe is for his wallet, and then the police officer shot him probably out of fear for his life.

I could explain why she filmed that or I could say you are a moron and move on with my life

The video starts AFTER he got shot so you don't know what the officer told him. The woman in fact said multiple times that the officer told her boyfriend to take out his license (which seems like a reasonable thing to say for a police officer in that situation, so that claim of her isn't really outlandish) and then got shot. But so far it's word against word. The officer claims he told him to not move his hands, the woman claims the officer told him to take out his license. Though not surprised by you instantly believing the cop who said, after having shot the guy multiple times, "I totally told him to not move!"...

More importantly the traffic stop was for a burnt out tail light and the victim had no criminal record. Without some other information, I see no reason for that office to approach the car gun drawn. This was in a low crime area as well.

Yeah really unfortunate, the guy was a responsible gun owner who followed the law. The gf who video taped the whole thing was calmer than the trained officer, really is sad.
To me the Alton case was a straight execution with malice, this one seems to be more incompetence and lack of training combined with miscommunication. All speculation though cause we don't have the full footage.
