Yeah, those look significantly more targeted and potentially effective than the Republicans bashing Trump, since they come off as whiny more than anything else. I hope she goes with the direction of #2, because she can bash his positions far harder than the Republicans can because his positions take a lot of what R support to the extreme, so they can't really bash it directly or properly.
Though I remember one of the most effective attack ads I ever watched was by Obama against Hillary. It had four different still frames of Hillary, and one at a time they turned into video clips, where Hillary directly contradicted herself and came off as a major flip-flopper.

This is one of the problems. Hillary could go the whole election cycle without anyone even hearing her voice, all she needs are these ads. Lucky for her, too.

Good lord. What do people even say to this?

I don't think the general population is as crazy as the voterbase that won Trump the nomination, if this doesn't really change anything you can as well abolish democracy

Not sure if showing clips of people whom the public largely dislikes or hates saying bad things about Trump will do much. Didn't do anything when they did it.

I guess Trump could just say that these Republicans were all politicians, establishment candidates, losers, and didn't want to see him succeed where they couldn't... they were all peanut butter and jealous of his success both as a businessman and now as a politician.
But based on his previous rhetoric, I think the reply he's going to give is something along the lines of "The wall just got ten feet higher!"

The whole idea is not necessarily to gain new voters, it's to keep everyone where they are. Maintain his record high negative image. That's why Hillary doesn't appear in the ad at all.

Bingo. Here's the critical point that people need to understand: nothing that Hillary is going to do will ultimately matter in all likelihood. This election is about Trump. Either his populist, pro-working class message is going to resonate or it won't.

There doesn't really need to be, though. While some Republicans won't vote for Hillary no matter what (because she represents the Democratic establishment), others won't vote for Trump because he's not a Republican either and he's majorly screwing up their party. Hillary's using mainstream Republicans as a shield by quoting them.

Sorry but i think this is terrible. Weird music in the background, followed by a bunch of disliked POLITICIANS saying whiny things about a guy who kicked their asses.
I'm very liberal so I strongly dislike Trump, but this ad sucks.

Most voters are not concerned about only one issue, and negative ads can very much have an effect -- and they have, given Trump's favorability ratings in the general electorate.

I do agree that the first ad is pretty weak, at least if I were the person it were trying to appeal to. Her second one is the one that I think would be more promising.

Pretty sure Trump would be able to make Hillary look scarier to them than she would make him look. By the convention Republicans will have sucked it up and realized even if Trump gets blown out, he's still going to be the single most powerful/popular Republican in the country so they might as well jump on the Trump train.

Neither George HW nor George W Bush, the only two living former Republican presidents of the United States, will endorse Donald Trump.
In statements released to the Guardian on Wednesday evening, spokesmen for both former presidents said they would be sitting out the 2016 election. Freddy Ford, a spokesman for George W Bush, told the Guardian: “President George W Bush does not plan to participate in or comment on the presidential campaign.”
The statement by the 43rd president was echoed in one released by his father. Jim McGrath, a spokesman for George HW Bush, told the Guardian: “At age 91, President Bush is retired from politics. He naturally did a few things to help Jeb, but those were the ‘exceptions that proved the rule’.”
The non-endorsements come as Trump has become the presumptive nominee and many party figures have tried to come to terms with the fact that the demagogic reality television star will be their party’s standard-bearer in November.
While some such as senators Dean Heller of Nevada and Ben Sasse of Nebraska have made clear they will not vote for Trump in November, others such as senators Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Rob Portman of Ohio have said they will vote for the party’s nominee but not endorse him.

a lot of parallel narratives and information looping subcultures. should look at extremism and fragmentation as a norm partly facilitated by tech

Ben Carson has a plan for Ted Cruz now that the Texas senator has dropped out of the GOP presidential race: attorney general, then Supreme Court justice under a Trump administration.
When Fox News Radio’s John Gibson asked Carson on Wednesday whether it would be “smart” for presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump to offer Cruz a position on the Supreme Court, he said yes.
“I think he would be terrific on the Supreme Court, or I think he would be a terrific attorney general. Or he could be both,” Carson said. “He could be attorney general first, you know, go ahead and prosecute Hillary, and then go on the Supreme Court.”
Gibson went on to ask the former presidential candidate whom Trump should choose as his running mate. “I wouldn’t advise him to pick me,” Carson said. “I would advise him to pick someone who really is willing and able to take a significant part of the load.”
The retired neurosurgeon endorsed Trump in March after he dropped his own presidential bid. Trump said on Wednesday that Carson would serve on his selection committee for his future running mate.
