I was at home from college for the weekend. It was mentioned briefly in this blog post here
I left all my clothing at college. I also have a laundry basket full of shit that needs to be washed and dried. I intend on making a second part to this blog in the future though after all of my clothes are organized (bought some new shit too! Im super pumped to have a "fashion show" of myself on the internet :D

Well, my parents love me. They don't drink and they are very christian and religious. One major belief is caring for their children. At first when I was younger, I tried to reject this sort of "pamperment" because I wanted to be independent and not indebt to them. But they still do this for me. I was home for the weekend and they took me shopping, I didn't even know that we were going shopping until my dad said so we are going to leave at about 11 is that ok with you?
I was initially confused because I was planning on just staying in my room eating yummy home cooked food and getting some starcraft 2 done (btw I was in a game with grobyc and was on his team it was so cool! I have to admit though he had a Dragon Aspect. Apparently there is a glitch where if you have a Dragon Aspect, it will ping wherever the Dragon Aspect is for the round. At first I thought grobyc was doing it intentionally and was just being a douchebvag troll as is expected. Without even looking at his name, I said "stop fucking pinging you dumb fuck" because the pinging was annoying as fuck. Later on in the game when I was looking at all the final army compositions, I noticed the guy's name was Grobyc and I recognized his name from NASL commentary LOL.I quickly confirmed it was him and I felt like such an asshole LOLOLOL
Well I got side tracked there but it was a story that had to be told, playin squad td with a celeb! Anyways so my dad ended up buying me a bunch of clothes from Marshalls. I was completely silent because it was not my money but he is ignorant about clothes but thinks he knows enough but he is always trying to learn more so he thinks Marshalls is like a good place to shop for good clothes at cheap prices (below 50$). He has limits though like he doesn't believe a long sleeve shirt should be worth 50$. It was ralph lauren though and it was half viscose...I will be displaying that in the future :D It's so comfortable to wear.

I have wanted to make a blog about clothing for a very long time now and since I have a couple hours of doing nothing right now, I now have some time :D
First of all, most people here I will just assume that you don't like to shop for clothes, you know basic matching, and all in all pay little to no attention to clothing. The most important thing about clothing is price to quality ratio. In order to judge that, ask yourself how does this piece of clothing go with the rest of my clothes? What do I plan on using it for? What kind of material is it made out of? Can I get it for cheaper somewhere else?
In order to decide whether the piece of clothing will look good on you or not, you should be able to close your eyes and visualize you wearing the particular clothes and what kind of look it gives you with the rest of your clothes (do you wear a hat, long hair/short hair, piercings, facial hair, pants/shirt congruence). Some tips to help with this is to look at yourself in a mirror. I don't mean just to see if you have anything on your face, I mean memorize every detail of yourself so that you won't need a mirror to know if something looks good on you or not.
How do we determine if something looks good on you? Well, "good" is a relative term. What might look good on one person might not look good on another. Basically you want to make sure that the clothes fits your "style". If you don't know what your style is, just ask yourself what kind of person do you want to look like? Do you want to look like a business man, a lumberjack, a model, college student? Use every stereotype you can think of because people make stereotypes from first impressions of seeing people. Wearing clothing that suits your style is important in making a first impression (such as dressing up for an interview). Here is an example of various styles that people have.
The American "Brad Pitt" Badass

This is without sunglasses.
![[image loading]](http://image.funscrape.com/images/b/brad_pitt-1259.jpg)
This is what I would call a "style" of dressing. A good style should consist of a variety of colors that play the same or similar role. If you notice all of the colors on his shirts, they are all white/light blue. This falls into the color range of bright subtle colors. They don't draw your eyes to the shirt. Instead, they help compliment the overall appearance of him. What then, is the first thing that your eyes are attracted to when you look at the picture and form a first impression? Well for me it's certainly his face. His clothing doesn't draw attention and as you can see it is used as a background blend for his face area. I use a similar style, where my clothes are not what attracts attention and so it compliments my face and helps me "pop" because I have my own unique style.
Although he has different haircuts, he has sunglasses on, sunglasses off, and different outfits on every time, there is always an overall underlying "theme" that is projected when you look at him which makes him stand apart, in a good way. It's basically pea-cocking in a subtle way.
The European Style
+ Show Spoiler +
It is the truth when I say the best clothes are made in Europe. They are the most expensive, use the finest materials, and the quality is beyond amazing. When you buy from places like Dolce & Gabana, Prada, and Armani, this is pretty much the top of the line clothes that you can aquire. Simple shirts and t-shirts easy cost a couple hundred euros and coats, especially fur and cashmere will be more than 1,000 dollars.
If you click on all the websites, there are already models from each brand that display "European Styles". If you compare it to the American style with the example of Brad Pitt, you will notice that there are differences that create alternate feelings when you look and get your first impression.
For me, I notice the design of the glasses and on the dress of the woman on the Prada website. There is no doubt in my mind that she is wearing a $1000+ outfit. Where is all the money put into? It is put into all the fine details and the quality of clothing. First off, the quality of the clothing directly affects the texture and the visual feel of the clothes. You are exposed to material such as micromodal, viscose, cashmere, wool, and the list goes on. Most of this stuff is dry clean only because you will ruin the material (cashmere and wool clothes) if you put it in the wash with your other clothes. I can't really describe the texture, but basically different material combinations with stuff like micromodal and viscose compared to 100% cotton or polyester/cotton create a more vibrant feeling when you are wearing them.
Here is a cotton t-shirt vs a micromodal t-shirt
+ Show Spoiler +
All clothes, but especially European clothes are essentially pieces of art that you can wear around. However, unlike paintings, this kind of art is customizable, easy to move around, and feels better! More on this later though because I want to talk about the $$$ issue now.

The kind of material also plays a large role in what kind of colors you can create. In this example, I'd just like to point out that although they are both "red t-shirts", the cotton one color is a more solid color whilst the micromodal t-shirt is slightly faded, yet still maintains the same red, but doesn't really attract your eyes because the red in this case compliments your face (if you are wearing this color vs the solid color).

How to Save Money while still getting decent clothes
+ Show Spoiler +
Of course, we all would like to save money so this is going to be an explanation of finding bargains. These bargains are usually better quality for less money and so score really high on the price to quality ratio. Where do we find these bargains? Well there are two ways of shopping, there are stores and there are online stores.
For regular stores, to save money on designer brands, hit up the local Marshalls, Macys, or Burlington Coat Factory. These are the three most popular department store chains that I can think of where you can find some really high quality clothes for a good price. Although you are still paying around 50$ for a good shirt, the original price is usually a lot more so you save up to 40-50% or more if they are on a clearance sale. The only problem is, if you live in the middle of nowhere these department stores will be non-existent or they will have a very very limited selection. In order to get a better selection, always try to hit up the populated areas like a local mall or stores in the city. I have found good clothes 50% off for 25$ instead of the original 50$+ price. That is a pretty standard, even a bit high price to pay per clothing at one of these department stores.
For online stores, the sky is the limit. You can buy stuff from anywhere in the world basically because the internet is awesome. You get a better selection and have a better chance at finding great deals. Here are a couple websites that I have bookmarked. (I like nice clothes. I will pay more money for better clothes 9 times out of 10. Quality>quantity but I am just using these websites as examples for what a clothing website looks like)
http://www.julesb.co.uk/
http://www.raffaello-network.com/raffties/
http://www.bluefly.com/
http://www.macys.com/ (I can always find some great sales on the Macys website and shipping is cheaper too. Although they have a lot of variety, I just don't like a lot what they have so I don't really go there a lot, but that's just my personal tastes)
One huge pro is that these websites often have sales sections so if you are trying to find bargains, you can just go straight to the sale, organize from lowest price to highest, and now the entire inventory is organized.
For me, I live in the USA. I like European clothes. Since I don't near a major city, the only way that I can buy European clothing is through online shopping. Unfortunately, that means that global shipping costs apply. If you order from Europe to the USA, expect to pay 15-20$ extra just for shipping. USA to USA delivery is cheaper though and shipping costs is usually half that of Europe to USA. I still find great clothes though so I don't mind paying a little extra for shipping to be able to wear something that almost no one else wears. I am probably the only kid in my college that wears Hugo Boss on a daily basis.
The last tip that I have for online shopping is that unless price is not a problem (for example you just won MLG so you got a little bit of money to spend), or you really really want a particular piece of clothing from a certain designer, you should NEVER buy from the actual website. All of the designer websites that I have listed in this blog so far are very expensive. When fashion season comes though for the winter/summer clothes, the newest stuff is always the hottest and therefore the most expensive. You get a little price decrease if you buy out of season clothes, but it is still generally not what I would consider a bargain.
Instead, those 3 websites that I use to shop are better alternatives to find clothes for better sales. Websites like Jules B and Raffaello are basically like online Macys and Marshalls. In fact, I know that Jules B has chain stores in the UK too. These websites operate differently compared to the designer brand websites. Designer brand websites participate in fashion shows and lead the fashion industry. Outlet websites hold clothes in their inventory from a plethora of brands. This gives you better selection unless you are looking for a specific brand and also allows you to find better sales because these websites lose money the longer an item is taking up inventory space. Therefore it is in their better interest to lower the price even more to move the item rather than keep a higher price and wait a while to sell the item.

It's not about the quality of clothes you wear, it's about why you decide to wear what you wear that gives your style a personal flair
+ Show Spoiler +
The clothes you wear should reflect who you are as a person. For me, I am a very calm person in real life and I wear darker colors most of the time such as navy blue, black, and grey. I have a bunch of brightly colored summer undershirts though that I can also wear in the summer. So when I am wearing something, I usually have this bright color flair of clothes underneath calm, darker color clothes. That would be how I describe what I wear physically and what my "overall theme" is in my style. Sometimes I even wear all black. I don't look emo though, I just look like a badass from "Men in Black" because that is the kind of personality I have and that is the kind of feeling that is emitted from me wearing black compared to an emo person wearing black.
Basically the point that I'm trying to make is that the same color means different things to different people. That's what makes your style individualistic and 'you' and that's why often copying other people's styles makes you sort of a douche bag because you have no originality in what you are wearing and remember, clothing is a mobile piece of art that you can wear around. Why copy someone else's painting when you can create your own painting that better suits you?

The last thing that I would like to mention is that I consider myself to be good with fashion. There is a stereotype that women in general are better than straight men at fashion. Gay men have a stereotype for being good with fashion too. This is a stereotype though. I dress better than a lot of people that go to my college and it is pretty visible when I walk buy someone that I have a better attire on then them, which includes a lot of women. I can also spot out people that have a sense of fashion as well too. Fashion is all about attention to detail and how it compliments the rest of your outfit. I didn't really give a fuck about what I wore until the summer I finished high school (less then 6 months ago) so it is certainly something that you can learn with 0 experience. In high school, I used to wear sports shorts and a hoodie every fucking day. I used to wear shorts during winter too and I live in a 4 season area so it gets cold in winter (below freezing). Now I look a lot better, I get compliments about how nice I dress as well because people can tell that I know what I'm doing when I put an outfit on. Best of all, all the clothes I wear all feel nice on me and are all comfortable too so I do not sacrifice any comfort for looking better.
Honestly wear whatever fits you and your current level of fashion. The more aware you become of what people are wearing, the more you will care about what you wear and why you wear it because you aren't doing anyone a favor, especially yourself, by not looking as good as you possibly can.
I hope this has enlightened people a bit more on fashion and fancy clothes and that it's not all about fancy expensive clothes and a shallow, socialite lifestyle.

While they don't have the selection of high-end designer clothing like Neimans does, they still offer very good quality clothing brands. The selection is somewhat comparable to what you'd find at Macys or Nordstrom, however, the prices are much cheaper.
Example: You can get men's Lacoste shirts (retail: ~$75 USD) for about $50. Free shipping too! :D
I buy most of my jeans from that site. $178 Joe's Jeans for about $60. I wouldn't suggest buying jeans though, unless you really know your size. >:
