first of all the narrator's voice gets annoying with all the random pauses <_> Anyways... Tasteless says there is a difference between addicted gamers and competitive gamers, and that addicted gamers cannot truly be competitive. The narrator goes on to say that's not always true, and that there are a range of addicted gamers between the professional and amateur level... I guess CNN didn't understand (from that quote) that Tasteless was trying to just point out that competitive gamers are not all addicted gamers, but many are simply dedicated (as he says elsewhere) to mastering the intellectual games. At least, that's how I see it. Tasteless meant competitive gamer as in a gamer who is dedicated to being a professional gamer, while CNN seemed to interpret it in that quote as a "good" or "skilled" gamer (and that you can be "skilled" in games that you can't beat but are neither intellectual like Starcraft).

I hope they make another one soon, now that eSports has grown a lot (that documentary was 7 years ago, which is a lot for eSports since eSports is relatively very new). In that documentary, i got the impression that people were still prize hunting and many practiced uncomfortably (looking at SC2 practice houses these days, they are much better). I mean, people still do prize hunt and such today, but there are many more sponsorships, and progamers today can make a lot of money coaching/streaming, which is additional revenue on top of their already steady salaries, paid-for-food/water/shelter/electricity/etc., tournament winnings, public appearances, modeling, etc. The only real thing I can criticize about NG's documentary is that I don't think they made it clear how much exactly they were living on. I don't know if this was intentional or if it was to make the documentary more interesting (passionate people working with little reward) and xello's story more amazing, but I got the impression that they were living almost completely on prize money alone. With winning only $20,000 or so with Xello's gold for 1 year, and the money being shared... seemed very very little to me once you spread it around ~10-15 people. You could look at this as a good or bad thing; it shows how passionate these people are but also gives an impression that the scene is very "small" and maybe not even "serious" when what seems to be the greatest tournament (WCG) only gives ~$20,000 to one starcraft progamer.

Features MKP and tasteless some. Wow they got Tasteless again! Also you should watch it. There's a MarineKing bio in the middle and it's not negative (it's good). MPK fans should definitely watch that video for MKP ![]()

CNN did a a good job putting together a nice piece about MVP. I would love to see them do one at an MLG to show that foreign scene is really big too!

I just noticed that 4 of these are EG players... o.o Just a small comment, when you show shots of the game, make it look exciting and make sure that the player's race is in the screen and that a Terran player (because it was Mvp who was in the documentary) was the one selecting the units etc. and doing whatever. Grubby would be great for a documentary, especially if/when he goes to China.
