Not sure if this is a bug,
While laddering not sure what happened,
but all of a sudden it started bugging like hell.
i can't do anything. It seemed like everysingle unit and building was in one control group. i Couldn't make a single unit, i couldn't stim, I couldn't do anything but move my army around as you can see (looks like being shift clicked). I can't even type enter to start typing.
Also note the hotkeys, when i press a number on my keyboard, it automatically hotkeyed it without holding cntrl.
I tried tabbing out, but it didn't solve.
meh.
Anyone else run into this?

The same thing happened to me like looooog ago, maybe 4-5 months, I blamed the batteries of my wireless keyboard holding shift automatically or somehting, anyway, never happened again.
funny thing I was a-moving to victory in a pvz with a nice deathball after a long macro game and this happened, then opponent left when i was about to engage panic mode

I had a problem like this... it was strange. At the start of the match I must have hit some key to switch hotkey settings or something. When I pressed enter to try to talk, instead of showing "To All" in white, it showed it in red. I couldn't type anything. I couldn't use my control groups either (this was at the very start). I could left click on things but that was it. Though, I could somehow press F10. The only thing I could do was quit, but it fixed the next game.
Also, I changed keyboards (paused the game) but no fix. So it wasn't the keyboards.
Maybe it's related...?

What type of keyboard are you all that have experienced this using?

It happens when you place buildings into the same control group as your units. Check at the end of your control group and there are probably going to be barracks/command centres selected as well.

This sometimes happen to me to. I usually just spam the Alt,ctrl,shift and alt gr. Usually it stops.

I had this same thing happen the other day. When I tried to select my drones to mine, instead it just pinged the map over and over again.

Did you happen to tab out of the game? Did you hold shift/ctrl while doing that? I had this issue once and it was after I tabbed out to check a messenger

Do you use any software that require combo Shift+Ctrl?
I use a Vietnamese typing assistant software Unikey, and everytime I want to play SC2, I have to turn the software off because the combo Shift+Ctrl (which is supposed to switch between English mode and Vietnamese mode) get in "sticky" mode and keep queuing stuffs.

known bug where sometimes the game reads that the shift key is being pressed down, causing minimap pings and general chaos.
fixed by: alt tab, key spam, sometimes restarting game etc etc.
seen this thread at least 5 times in my tenure here and have experienced it myself (although not lately)

this has happened to me numerous times but only at the beginning of a game. I can't reproduce it even if I try but I think it happened to me when the screen is loading before the game and I clicked numerous times on the screen. But sometimes, even if I do, it doesn't happen so I don't know the exact cause.
What happens is all my workers are selected (I did not select them) and they are shift clicked to my nexus and the mineral patch. I cannot stop them, cannot issue other commands; I must wait for them to finish the queued actions before I can control them. Luckily, this has only happened to me on team games and not on 1v1. I think this has happened to me at least 6 times.
And BTW, they are not queued to nexus-patch one time. They are queued nexus-patch-nexus-patch... you get the idea. And also on a single patch so it really affects your opening.

It's holding shift down. When it happens, just press the shift key and it should stop.
I have a black widow, it hasn't happened in a while, don't think the keyboard has anything to do with the bug though. I remember it would sometimes happen when the lag window would pop up - the game didn't receive the Shift-Release input, so it acts as though the shift key is pressed. I've had it happen at the start of game as well, and after a pause/unpause.
Edit- I looked at your actions in sc2gears. It's definitely holding down the shift key, not ctrl. It started right after you hit Ctrl+1 to hotkey 2 marines, you then shift+select the tech lab, factory etc and do a bunch of Hotkey Assign (add selection) commands.
I've found that pressing the shift key by itself fixes the problem right away, don't need to alt tab or restart. (If it doesn't work try tapping the Ctrl key, and maybe Ctrl+Shift, the point is to make the game receive a shift_up input.)

This happened to me once, I restarted SC2 and the problem went away
Dunno what causes it, but it was REALLY annoying.

So I think I know what has caused this for me in the past. For me, it turned out to be an issue that happens when I launch Starcraft through steam and shift-tab in game at some point. I don't know if this is the same issue you're getting but I just became a lot more careful about shift-tabbing in starcraft and stopped getting the issue. I'll also note, it usually didn't occur right after I shift-tab'd. It only caused problems a bit after(I think after I hit shift at some point? I'm not sure).

Yeah, I had this and as the others said shift key is the culprit. Fix the key or replace keyboard

yeah i usually get this in mid to late game when all my hotkeys get messed up and i have no units and 1000/1000 resources its an annoying way to lose

i dont think its keyboard related. i had this a long time ago with a brand new DAS keyboard.. has not happened for a while now

yeah, looks like a auto pressed shift key.
i explored such a behaviour on a friends pc. his keyboard was able to autotrigger keys and i somehow activated this for the shift-key.
adding to/creating controlgroups, no chatting (shift+enter doesnt work afaik) and shift-rallying are the logical result of this.
maybe your keyboard has such a function too, or its just broken(did the problem continue?).
you should refer your keyboard's manual if ur no sure.

Shift being held down automatically is a well known steam bug, I think, or at least my friends all seem to know about it and talk about if frequently when it happens to them. If you weren't using steam at the time, I don't know what to tell you, but if you were, this is most likely the cause. When it happens to me, I find that if I tap shift a few times it goes away. It also only seems to happen if you're using the Shift + Tab functionality of steam. I've started alt+tabbing to interact with my steam windows nowadays, and I never seem to get this bug any more.

Happened to me as well, just in a different fashion. All my keys became "escape".

I think it's like Shift is held down, it happened to me a few times. Everything you select with control groups then gets added to other control groups and all your commands are shift queued and you basically cannot do anything. I just spammed shift and caps lock like a madman while Alt-tabbing in-between :D

GrooveShark gave me this problem. Did you have your web browser open and some website open? I'd sometimes randomly have none of my keys work or do anything, both keyboard and mouse.

Happened to me about 3 times since the release. Have no idea what triggers it, but every time i suffered it, that game is lost.

Yep thats really annoying, it happens when u press shift too many times, i think its 5 times. You can disable that though ! o,o !

thought they fixed this months ago really annoying bug, there is also a bug where you can't use your keyboard at the start unless you alt tab out and in.

Something like that happens to me occasionally. Press the key that seems to be pressed. Like you you were selecting things into the same control group, it might have been "shift" stuck down into your keyboard.
Happens to my alt key every now and again, even on a new keyboard. Think its a game bug that occurs while loading.

Do you use steam? because if you "alt+tab" out into the overlay, this happens. Tab shift or alt-tab again to fix it!

It has happened a few time to me, maybe 3-4. I usually alt tab and let it sit for a second and it goes away. I don't really know why it does it.

had this with 2 keyboards attached and accidentally hitting the second one with my feet while playing ..

This happened to me today for the first time ever. Acts like a stuck shift key and needed to alt tab to fix it.

Happens to everyone. It's like a Strg Lock (like capslock). Just press Ctrl Alt Shift each once and it's fixed
