Not all words are equal. And that doesn't change because you want it to be changed. All racially charged or hateful words have the same negative connotations they have always held. The fact that he lied to his management, tried to cover it up and called all of this slander, attacking the people who posted and then wrote a useless apology when it all came out was just plain stupid. On the subject of raging: I play Hon a lot and staying calm is often not an option. I rage a lot, i curse, i flame. Still I don't use racial expressions. Why would I? It doesn't improve the rage. Using racial expressions does mean something. I can just as well call someone an asshole.

The quote from IdrA was to demonstrate the colloquial use of the term "faggot" which, frankly was relevant in 2007, and is relevant now. Perhaps it was dug up as "supporting evidence" for the current situation, which is perfectly acceptable just as if this were a court case. But it seems that those images have fooled many people into thinking they were more recent.

I agree.. In my opinion.. it doesn't matter if he's streaming on his own time or not.. he represents for EG and eSports.. this was completely unnecessary. I raged a lot in BW BGH and UT99.. but this whole being in the spotlight thing is so much different. I'd EASILY be able to restrain myself from explosions like that.. I'd just be so damned happy to be involved in esports, even at his level. While I re-read this, it seems difficult. I mean, sure, I guess he IS on his own time.. but streaming seems like a mix of work/play.. I dunno what I'm trying to say, but, if it were me and I was streaming, even to only a dozen people.. if I was involved in eSports like orb and I was laddering, while streaming.. I'd be pretty damned careful.

The reason that those words should not be used in anger or to talk down to someone is that, when presented in a public forum (ie. the internet), they bring out the worst in some people and really hurt other people, there is no good that comes of it.
I hope he is fired and gone from the community.

I understand where a corporation like EG is coming from if they choose to no longer hire/use orb to represent them in particular casting situations but at the same time I think it's a really stupid of a community to get up in arms over this whole thing. A word is a word, it does not mean he is a racist and if he is a racist what he does in his own time is his thing. If he continues to cast well and be a powerful/useful analytic tool in the community then so what?

Also there's a lot to be said for the argument of Destiny. People have heard his statement on the use of the word in question here and how he doesn't give two shits what people think, it's just a word. So even if you have proof that orb has used the word, just because he raged and typed it out to someone versus saying it on stream doesn't mean anything. You still have no proof that orb is anymore a racist than Destiny is. Now if EG and other corporations simply just won't interact with orb because of this then that is their decision. But no one should be saying it's because he's a racist, it's because you don't want bad PR surrounding an obviously overblown shit storm that is based around a central idea that still has no proof. (Orb being racist)
