I'm getting a little worried about the amount real life threats I'm getting in Starcraft II. Firstly, I want to know how it is possible to search up an address through sc2, if that is possible or not and hopefully someone here can help me. Of course, I would love to play a game without having to be fearful of some impending danger.
Secondly, to all you people who make real-life threats. Be warned that you do not know who you are dealing agaisnt... its just a game I prefer not to have silly life threatening situations occur for either of us or any other sc2 player in general.
Seriously...

My life for Aiur. You threaten my life, Aiur threatens you
|
Welcome to online gaming.
|
well first of all they can find out who you are ... only if they were a good hacker or something people dont think its possible but its quite possible.. the only reason why i believe people are threatening you is your just acting more childish towards them thats the only reason how i see it maybe you should change your attitude when you play then you shouldnt be so worried of real life threats

If you're concerned about random people in a video game going to your house to hurt you, perhaps you should find another activity. Like painting. Painting is fun.
|
... this begs the question of what are you doing to have your life threatened?

How poetic. Self-referencing.

=.= First of all, it doesn't matter what I do in a game to have been threatened. Its a game. Live with it. Secondly, why is everyone so hostile regarding this incident, I'm just looking for some information to set my mind at ease. Perhaps you haven't had real-life threats issued to you, and I haven't not provoked him in any sense. Thats why blizzard has a ticket for real-life threats, because they realize its an issue.
Also are any of you aware that people have died because of such issues? Yes they are rare but in that odd circumstance these people actually to persist in finding you and eventually end up harming you. Can you all please be more open and don't post anything unless you have something useful to say.

Lol for some reasons your post reminds me of someone who tries to be an internet warrior but is afraid of being called out/caught.
That's not the case here is it lol?

Maybe the internet isn't for you.

I think this is the best answer

I might be wrong but the examples I know of people getting DDoSed or whatever come from the IP being accessed over Skype and other such applications.

If anyone makes a real life threat to me, I'm gonna go to their house and force feed them pickled olives
|
i'm pretty sure you're worried about nothing, and i highly doubt your a victim
|
First of all I have recieved (numerous) "real-life" threats, reaching from "i'm gonna hurt you" to "i'm coming to your house to r### your mom," basically for beating people in the game when they were already in rage mode. Kiddies? Probably!
I understand that most people here on TL consider the OP a trolling post, however the implementation of the Real-ID (aka the game knows your name) feature has gotten quite a few people worried and I think the OP deserves at least 1 legitimate answer (Which I can't provide because I'm not a hacker/ don't know anything about it.)
|
Ok that's enough now, I'm coming for you cruxBoss !!!
|
When I first played CS 1.6, I really thought everyone in the world had sex with my mom. Didn't talk to her for a week.
As I grew older, I learned not to take everything seriously that's said on the internet.

Seriously... First off, no way through the game itself can people find you. To the best of my information, such information is not stored in the replays. However, with things such as your screen name, it is theoretically possible to find some personal information if you go around posting it everywhere.
Now on to your second post, with the way that you phrase things, it makes it really difficult for people to take you seriously. Things suchs as "Be warned that you do not know who you are dealing against..." make many of us doubt the point of your post.

lol 2pgs and still no srs answer.
you should buy a shotgun/samurai sword just incase, even if nobody comes to kill you or perform with your mother, you'd be ready for the zombie apocalypse. :p
|
Seriously, what do you guys do to get threatened all the time? I think the closest thing I've gotten is "i hope you die of cancer"..
|
I get real life threats from every single protoss that tries to one base me and fails miserably. Don't worry about it and just report them
|
I just laugh at them for being such sad failures. I don't get many threats though.. I usually ignore ragers are you sure you are not taunting them back OP?

Yea this comes all the time from any kind of timing attack, though ive also got similar for holding an all in with 15 nexus.
People are just insecure in their own failures.

That's it. Somebody gonna get hurt reaaalll baad.

This could quickly be the new Nada's Body thread...

This thread lol...
If you have to post here asking, are you this childish on Battle.net or act like it? There is a report button for a reason if your that convinced they are serious...But if you have to make a thread about it, review your actions...it might be pure bad luck, but I get the feeling you like to cheese/BM your opponent.
Hacking Blizzard files to get someone's IP and location is REALLY easy. A basic google search can lead you to an answer. The chance of someone acting on anything more than looking it up simply to scare you is .00000000000001%. I haven't searched for any incident of anyone acting on these threats, because I'm so confident that they are near 0%.
Now if your a European futbol fan and you are wearing you team's jersey at night in the city of the team you just beat, you might want to run for your life. But over the internet, chances are your most likely across the country or even in a totally different country then the person you are playing.

When i saw this title i thought "ok either this dude is drunk or hes playing too much." And i guess im just simply right! You must be drunk posting this thread cause i don't see any point in it.

Why would you actually be afraid of something somebody says on the internet? secondly, even if they do they are bluffing. How many people do you know that got beat up after a online player found there address and actually went threre. Stop being a baby.
O, and welcome to the internet.

Laughed out loud. <3

Am not 100% sure but i thought that threatening on the internet to do people harm is illegal (just like making thoose threads irl is) so if it is realy serious (wich seems unlikely) you could go to the police. I do know that the police take such threads verry serious if they for example posted on facebook and such

You have no idea what you are talking about, you can't get another players IP over bnet regardless of what u do.

Used to happen in WoW and CS 1.6 but so far nothing in Sc2 ^_^
