If you want more women to get into e-sports then don't be creepers and stop making a big deal out of them. They aren't some rare and exotic species of animals, they don't need to be singled out and given weird degrees of special attention. Introduce your friends, male or female, to Starcraft. If they're interested, they'll come to TL, and they'll go to MLGs. If they aren't then they aren't. Male or female makes no difference in this case.

Ads specifically targeted to women, on websites that receive lots of female traffic, would arguably reach much more female eyes than lowering prices. If MLG lowered prices by $10, the only females who would even notice are those who were already interested in going. I don't think it makes any sense to assume that females are going to look at an MLG that they previously weren't interested in and then change their mind based on a price decrease. But I guess that's just my opinion. And as I stated before; attracting those is important to grow the awarness and acceptance of eSports which will then correlate in way more audience(of different demographic gropus).
While that's certainly possible, we don't have any statistics or knowledge to necessarily back that claim up. Any comment we make on that specific point is mostly assumption, but I would argue that it's likely that that specific demographic (females who want to attend an MLG but find the price too steep) is probably a very, very small demographic. Outside of that, whether or not the price is too steep for that demographic could be based either on financial constraints, or that those females don't consider the event worth that amount of money. If it is the latter case (which is easier to deal with than the former), a better option (in my opinion of course) would be to increase the value of the event to female viewers. Not only would this make the event seem more appealing to females in general, but would make the event a better value and more marketable to those who want to go but find it too expensive. Events that appeal even more to these females would likely help them justify the price to themselves and encourage attendance.
On an unrelated note, I keep typing MLF instead of MLG. Don't know why.

MLGs doesn't happen every week. Spending a few bucks for your own enjoyment doesn't hurt. And about the lack of girls thingie, I believe it will chance sometime in the future once gaming becomes more mainstream. You see alot of girl gamers playing call of duty, the next step might be SC2 or some other esport games.
But I still don't see a problem with how it's now.

how many times have you argued for female only leagues?

A price discount won't bring girls in. It'll just be cheaper for those BFs who obviously have to pay for their GFs if they want to them to tag along wich might be the motivation for this OP.
Anyways, progamers get more attractive to women as the pricepool goes up. So we need to promote E-sports untill progamers drive at least a Porsche, then they will come.
Maybe the progamers need to buff up and take off their shirt in ceremonies....like Anytime in that proleague final match vs Stork. Although that might become weird and awkwardly homo erotic if there's just dudes around.
Maybe we should market the cute cuddlyness of the contenders like Korean BW......
We could pressure Sundance into hiring some strippers.
The absolute best way to get more girls in is probably by saying they can't come. Cuz it's a guys only thing and women are not allowed.
+ Show Spoiler +I don't want to sound sexist, but that's what I am so that's how it comes out.

I hope they give female discounts so I can go as a ladyboy. Skinny girls should eat free at restaurants as well since they'll want to keep skinny and won't eat much.
|
I'm not sure if it's in MLG's interest to take an interest to make a mixer out of their spectator floor, but I'll leave that up to them to decide. The 'Ladies night' comparison is a valid argument. Perhaps it can generate more revenue for MLG the same way it does for bars... perhaps in some way shape or form, who knows. That's up to MLG to decide. For all the people calling it sexist or offensive in this thread, I pity you. That is all.

Female only Leagues are a different story. It is to HELP encourage more females to be involved in the community and in the competitive scene. This is not a hard concept to understand.

I don't care if its common in Germany. The thing is this is unfair and will just cause more problems! Like I said earlier: "I know many ladies who went to events like MLG. Now while bars and clubs give discounts to ladies or have ladies night, they also make a profit off the drinks sold. However MLG sales tickets for people to GET into the event. Many females are actually interested in the game and dont want special treatment just because of their gender. Now what you could do is suggest to the MLG for a group discount. IE: If 2 people want to go together, lets say a couple, then maybe they can offer a discount for buying 2 tickets at once. They could also apply this to like friends who want to go together. For example, lets say John and 4 of his friends want to go to MLG. Now if they all pull their money together and have 1 person buy all of their tickets, then maybe MLG could offer them a discount deal for buying more then one ticket at a time. NOT because of their gender though."
Also do me a favor and don't pm me again. The pm you sent was pointless and a total waste of time.

Yes we want equal rights. There is nothing wrong with wanting that. There are leagues for this group or that group, so having a females only league is not as bad as people want to make it sound. Its the same as North American only leagues or how WCG does leagues based on location. So yes, we want the same type of fricken equal rights as what you guys get. We just want to enjoy starcraft, the same as you, without special treatment based on our damn gender.
