Interesting. Seems like there will be actual international competition. I mean, the LCS teams should shit stomp the teams from the Russian and Turkish regions, but we should see some interesting NA v EU games. Cloud 9 v Fnatic remach perhaps? Fan voted so my money is on Cloud 9, TSM, Fnatic, and Gambit.

Ooooooh, I thought they were just listing several of the possible teams, not all the possible options. That's kinda lame. But at least Cloud 9 and Fnatic should make it in.

Oh that sounds really cool!

And Fnatic, Lemondogs, Alternate for Europe.
So it will most likely be C9 + CLG from NA and Fnatic + Lemondogs from EU.
Of course it sucks that teams get there only by invite and popularity vote, but at least we are getting something outside of LCS. Maybe other LCS teams get invited to the next one so that it is at least somewhat fair.
Also interesting which teams were not invited (EG and Gambit among others). This might be because the rosters of these teams are not yet fixed, and further fuels the fires of the shuffling speculations. :D

They probably (hopefully) started the whole process asking which teams intended to take part at all, then decided playing a qualifier with so little teams wasn't worth it. Can't really fault ESL/IEM to err on the side of caution after NA teams routinely skipped IEMs even though having qualified.
I wouldn't necessarily count fnatic in. They are - at most - a distant #3 in Europe to Gambit and EG in terms of fans, though their recent success at Worlds might benefit them. I wouldn't even be surprised if fnatic would drop to a team like SK, NiP or the rumored "super team" in a fan vote, if any of them pulls a big name transfer soon.

Not sure if the wording of the announcement allows this interpretation. The whole "and more" hints at additional teams being included in the vote - though if aTn is named already, we probably can't expect any big names. You're right about Gambit and EG, I guess - they'll have to consolidate their rosters first, though they'd probably win the vote easily.

Clg manager said on reddit that teams had to say if they wanted to be included in the vote or not. Gambit probably wants vacation and EG has 100% rostershuffles.

Gambit is also asking for votes on their facebook. So they are in as well.
I dont agree with your assessment of the Fnatic fan base at all though. For example xPeke has more FB likes than anyone on EG or Gambit. They would win the vote easily over teams like SK let alone NiP, its not even a contest. Maybe EG could give them a run fo their money, but I suspect they would even win over them.
If Gambit is in Lemondogs will lose out though sadly. I would much prefer them over Gambit.

OMG and PE joind "Clan china", team OMG is also recruiting new players, especially for its bot lane. the transfer fee is not revealed, but its estimated to be about a million RMB (100k$) both teams are moving into same gaming house preparing for WCG PE is previously sponsered by "Clan china", and got renamed to team PE.china
fun fact: both "clan huangzhutianci (Royal)" and "clan china" are famous and at least top3 clan of almost every mmorpg in China, both clan's owner are son of billionaire and have invested tons millions of dollars into online games. Both owner have shown interest in eSports.
anyway nobody can beat Jianlin Wang, the father of team iG's owner, Wang was the no.1 in China Rich List 2013 (19 000 000 000$ by September 2013).

But this means 4 teams will have to find new KEY players which will NOT happen Gambit won't find a russian mid strong enough to replace Alex. (also he still only plays mid in SoloQ.) and EG will need to find someone to replace Froggen/Wickd which will not be easy as well. Arguably undoable Copenhagen Wolves will need to find someone to arguably replace a top 3 EU jungler. LAWL. All of this doesn't make any sense whatsoever please. STAHP it annoys me so much I said it before 20 times and I'll say it again the only proof there is is their ranked 5s 5 man bruiser 2 am troll games. But that wasn't even with Alex that was with Shacker top feeding like a bad ass. The only part of that story that just causes an eyebrow to be raised is Alex. Not only for the top lane, but the fact he would have to relocate with his family to participate with the team. Though that was partially left to fill in with Wicked. It's just a fun thing to speculate on because there will be so many moves.
Plus lets be honest, if any team in E-Sports was to make a giant move like this it would be EG. They have the money to make it happen, and 2/5 of said team are already paid by them. Using the sub spots on the remaining EG players, and Coach.
SK with their disappointing showings, could possibly have the money to make this work. So I suppose they would be the second likely candidate, this thought seems incredibly unlikely.
The reasons you gave aren't reasons why this won't happen. If Alex would be offered to make more money, would he care if Gambit would struggle to replace him? The same thing with Copenhagen Wolves. "Hey guys EG offered to pay me double what I'm getting now and its one hell of a team. However I know how important Iam to you guys so I said no!"(Incredibly unlikely)
Richard Lewis is a reliable journalist. So it does deserve to be looked at. The only factor that could derail his theory sooner, is if Edward does return to Gambit.

didn't edward burn hella bridges when he left gambit though? i don't think hes coming back tbh, i think he doesn't like diamond; diamondprox isn't moving from gambit that is forsure.

Okay, can you tell me which major stories he broke then? I'd look to read some to make up my mind xD
And I agree if anyone will do this it's EG but there are more possibilities SK, Na'Vi maybe. But I mostly am saying it won't happen because I don't want all these teams to fall apart lol.

Anyone know more about IEF? It's starting this weekend but I can't find if/where it's streamed or who is playing other than the Korean teams listed (Xenics Storm, Sonic, KIN), if any. Last year it was 3 Korean and 3 Chinese teams but I guess China is busy with WCG qualis this weekend.
