I don't actually follow LoL but some discussions comparing Korean dominance in SC2 to Korean dominance in LoL had me wondering. Are there international tournaments where Chinese teams and Korean teams play? Or is there a general consensus which team is the best at the moment? Because everyone keeps talking about the Korean dominance yet last time I checked because I wanted to see how clans I knew are doing in LoL, iG was kinda owning Korean teams. (Then again I have no clue so I'm probably wrong, would be nice if someone could enlighten me.) OGN Champions is the Korean league. LPL is the Chinese league. Right now, the Chinese scene is regressing, and new teams like OMG and Positive Energy beat iG and WE in the semifinals of LPL to make the spring grand finals. In Korea, the scene is so deep that it's hard to say who the best team right now. Ozone won the most recent season, but Blaze, Frost, Sword, SKT, and KT Rolster B are all capable of winning the summer season.

(Then again I have no clue so I'm probably wrong, would be nice if someone could enlighten me.) there are currently no international leagues like in sc, but teams have occasionally traveled to compete in regional leagues. someone more informed will have to reply to give you a better idea, but naijin sword and i believe one other korean team played in the chinese starswar league last year (they didn't win), which is why you remember ig beating koreans. it's been a while since starswar, and the competitive scene has settled into strictly regional tournaments divided by na (NA LCS), eu (EU LCS), cn (LPL), kr (OGN), and sea (GPL). the closest thing to an international tournament this season was the recent all-stars tournament, held in china and contested between one team from each region composed of players selected by popular vote. korea absolutely demolished that tournament. even prior to all-stars, korea's ogn league has been by far the most competitive, and the amateur league (NLB) is continually fielding some very talented players. while china's top teams, namely omg, ig, we, and positive energy are also very good, they are succeeding against a much shallower field. the only recent matches between korean and chinese teams were at the all-stars tournament, where korea crushed china 2-0 in the finals. those matches were not between the complete rosters of any teams; that said, when also considering the depth of talent in the korean scene, it's reasonable to consider korea to comfortably be the strongest region. whether or not this strength extends to the level of dominance seen in sc remains to be seen until the world championships, and any discussion until then is largely speculative.

It is no secret that our initial results have not been up to the high standards that the team has set of themselves and what the fans expects of them. Therefore the team has decided to effect some changes to the roster for the remainder of the LCS Summer split. 3 players will, in order to improve on our current results, to step down from the active roster. NeeGodbro, TheTess and Svenskeren has decided to step down as subs, to be replaced by two of our current subs in the form of Vytautas "extinkt" Melinauskas, and Tobias "Malunoo" Magnusson. While we have recruited Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek, former AD Carry of Heimerdingers Colossi and Samurais in Jeans teams. .The team believes that these changes are what is needed in order to remain competitive, and challenge for the higher spots in the current split of the LCS. The new lineup will be seen the first time in the upcoming week 3 matches to take place at the studios in Cologne, Germany The new NiP.LoL - Lineup: Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg - Mid Lane Martin "Deficio" Lynge - Support Vytautas "extinkt" Melinauskas - Top Lane Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek - AD Carry Tobias "Malunoo" Magnusson - Jungler Dan Van "NeeGodbro" Vo - Sub Kasper "TheTess" Poulsen - Sub Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen - Sub

Just taking things at face value, it's pretty weird to announce that a mid and top are swapping lanes at a stage in the game's evolution where the idea of even having distinct "mid" and "top" lane players is becoming obsolete.
